Ok. You really can't love being a pessimist.

I wasn't always like this, but the last couple of losses have made me this way.

I saw you made the same mistake on another thread. It's Harbaugh, not Harborough.

As many of you have said, I am more confident about this game than I have been about a Steeler game for a long time. Our team is really peaking at the right time.

You should put a beard on your avatar! (I have photoshop, if you like I will, unless you created it yourself, then good job.)

We've got to score early and often. Period. I have 25% confidence we can pull this one off and steal a win.

Guys, note that if you cross warden86/Steeler fan, he is amazingly arrogant. I understand now, more than ever, what another said about Pitt's fan hubris.

He needs educating. He is overly sensitive about Ben's health. I recognized and gave credit to Ben's talent; however, indicated something noticed over the last few seasons: injuries; i.e. to the knee are wearing him and may be a factor in the game. Of course, exuding with Steeler bravado, he reminded me how he played victoriuos with foot, knee and nose injuries.
I can stick up for Wardy as well. He's been a great member of our forum despite his fan allegiance. Sure it sucks that he always talks the truth about the steelers and 'stats' but it's good for the forum. Besides one day he'll take off his jersey and we'll see that purple shirt underneath.

I think some fans mistakenly believe that just because one is a fan of another team, he/she should yield to the fans of the forum.

Fact is we all put our pants on the same way. Yea, someone may cheer for the rival, but that doesn't mean they are incapable of intelligent conversation. Quite the contrary. Aside from the fact that this is a no smack forum, if you talk trash to someone, it's probably safe to assume that you're going to have to absorb some too. This is usually when the "why are you here" and " you're arrogant" and "Mods get rid of this guy" comments begins. It's always the same.

I digress.

Anyway, Confident? No more and no less than most Ravens fans I guess.

I am actually very confident about this game, particularly because of how well our defense played last time. The Steeler O-line is just too weak (worse than ours) to keep their offense on the field. We all know Mendy will do little to nothing this game, so Ben will have to air it out, as will Flacco. I just feel better about our receiver options.

Our O-Line is definitely weaker than yours. However, I forgot that Scott was starting at LT. That's a good thing. He was the 3rd option at that position. Not saying he's going to dominate or anything, but he's yet to give up a sack to Suggs.

update: knock on wood. lol

I have a good feeling about this game. Unlike 2 years ago where I didn't in our last playoff encounter with the Steelers. This one feels a lot different. This time I have hope instead of doubt...

same here i am so confident we can beat the steelers on their home turf! :18_1_301: ^_^

Agreed. Wardy has been a great member of this forum and his contributions have made numerous discussions much more interesting.

More likely than not there is going to be a personal foul called at sometime in the game, we have to be the team to draw the Steelers into that, and not the other way around.

Maybe Chester should try to 'hurt' Harrison on an XP to set the tone lol.

We are all fans of the NFL, well most anyway. The thing is the people that normally disrespect you are the fans that only come out around this time of year, or when Flacco has a bad game. We could use those comments that they stated to you on them and it would be much more fitting. Sometimes some of the things that these "lesser fans" say remind me of the comments I see on nfl.com when I am looking at the game recap. Uneducated Steelers and Ravens fans talking about nonsense, a Cowboys fan who just doesn't belong, then a person with a name like BearsPatriots whom was probably a Bears fan in the Chicago area but now also roots for the Patriots so he can say his team won those Super Bowls last decade!
And to the point of the topic Warden, don't lie we know your nails are bitten to nothing and you've got cold sweats over there :th_cancers:

Confident is such a strong word to use for any game between these two teams. I will say that I think man to man we match up better this season with the Steelers than any previous year. I like our chances to take this game. I think this one does put the pressure on Flacco. Our defenses will do their jobs, Ben will do his usual and Joe will have to perform. I think he's grown a lot and is more than capable of getting it done on Saturday.

Sidenote: I think it's funny how the NFL pundits are saying how "Ben like" Joe was against KC. Even Harbaugh made the comparison.

I'm actually going to a friends house for this one (Rare for me). So, no matter what happens, I'll probably have to calm him down:

"Oh, William Gay sucks!!!" "Why doesn't Ben just throw it???" "McFadden, you're an idiot."

This is when we're up by 10 in the 4th quarter most times. lol The funny thing is, you will never find a more rational man anywhere on any other day of the week. lol

lol. Really? I'm the opposite until we've lost. Then depending on what took place I may be angry. The Jets loss angered me a lot. Most of my outbursts are "YEAH BABY!" and stuff like that. lol

My buddy Chris though? I liken him to Bill Paxon's character in Aliens:

I started the week mellow, emotions were as low as if I didn't care. Starting to pick up a little now. It is just something that happens with me in the playoffs. It is because I am really not looking forward to the game. It is not because we are underdogs, I felt the same last week. I just know how frustrating it is going to be. Even AFTER we win Saturday, we still have two games in a row to win to truly make it all worth while so it's tough.

I could have written all that myself; every word of it. lol.
I'm sure we're not alone there.

Another underlying emotion is the sadness that the season is about over. For one of us, it officially ends on Saturday. That's always a bummer.

I'm predicting that we blow them out by three scores. It's the law of averages, Big Bens luck finally runs out.

Oh yeah, if the Steelers win the Superbowl I'm quitting the NFL.

Ravens will win because we are a better team bottom line. Steelers are no match for us. This is where we graduate to the top of the AFC. If we can do a good job protecting Flacco, i have no doubt, he will show the world, that he is the best all around QB in the AFC.

I know I keep trying to put that to the back of my head. That is the kind of thing that doesn't just hit you somewhere down the road. Whether it is week 17 or the AFCCG, the last game of the season leaves quite an empty feeling that we have all experienced too much.

I've never been more confident that we have the ability to beat them!!! That said, yes KC is in the soft AFC West and the AFC North is where the big boys play - if they play as hard and as good as they played against KC then we got next!!!!

Nows as good a time as ever to beat them, every game it comes down to one play, a broken tackle, a tipped pass, a broken coverage, a broken protection and we seem to be on the wrong side of that one play that dictates the game even when we have the ball. Nows as good a time as any to correct that mistake, make that tackle, block that blitz, get separation against the Steelers.
You forgot making that ONE correct play call at the CRITICAL time in the game. (the pass play in the MUST RUN situation that allowed Palamalu to get the strip sack on Flacco). Had Cam called a run play there, we swept Pittsburgh this year.
