Tired Of Hearing About This Jets - Pats "rivalry"

11 posts in this topic

I do not know why things like this bother me so much but watching NFL Network tonight and they are hyping this game next Sunday like it is the SB without any mention of the Ravens - Steelers. A rivalry is not made on smack talk and butt whoopings, a rivalry is made in the trenches with close games and mutual respect.

The Jets lost 45-3 the last time these 2 teams met, the last 6 (I believe) Ravens - Steelers games have been decided by fewer than 7 points. This irks me.

**Side note to this topic**

On the night of the MD - Duke game is likely the only reason I am so bothered by this, Maryland is not Duke's rival but living in MD and surrounded by a large contingent of MD fans and alumni this is all I hear about.

Rivalries are special, rivals do not choose each other. Rivalries are sports.

There is NO greater rivalry in the NFL than the Ravens & Steelers.

Everyone in America is licking their chops for next Satuday's AFC game.

It doesn't get any more personal between two teams like it does between these two.

To be fair, even though the Patriots have owned the Jets for much of the past decade, the two are split 51-49-1 in favor of the Jets all-time. Their rivalry is dictated by history. Specifically, their recent history has included an exchange of talent between teams via free agency and trades, with players and coaches switching sides often.

I was watching NFL network as well and they were back and forth between our game next week and the Jets game pretty even IMO. They are amped up for our game next week, even on ESPN Boomer & TJ and then Hodge/Dilfer were all over our Raven/Steeler game.

Plus this is the first time in NFL history that the "Divisional round" that the four teams are from their respected divisions. The NFL sure lucked out once again this year with Baltimore/Pittsburgh & New England/ New York, for key games against each other. If you remember back when the Steelers came to Baltimore on Dec. 5th that game was for sole rights to the division lead and on national television Sunday night. Plus that Monday is when the Jets went to the Pats on MNF for their game and sole rights of first place in their division with the out come of that game as well. So once again the NFL got another great weekend with HUGE out comes on the line for all four teams! It doesn't get no better than this boys and girls!

They have their rivalry. It is a little different than ours. Their games go back and forth with one team dominating the game. Our games are decided by less than a TD.

Naturally, as Ravens' fans, we think our rivalry is better. And, you know, it is lol

Theirs is still a rivalry as well.

Well to be fair if we really want to talk about rivalries than Pack VS Bears is the oldest. As far as intensity though everyone would agree that Ravens and Steelers.

I think Jets/Pats are a great rivalry but i am tired of Rex making it all about him...he has an ego bigger than his appetite.

Who thinks either of BAL or PIT will have the gusto to win next week against NE or NYJ? -- It's one of those "all-you-can-eat buffet" style games but "save some room for dessert" scenarios.

I read "appetite" and all I can think about is food now.
