Kemoeatu is no slouch but I'd put Cody's ceiling higher than that.

I should rephrase ... I think Cody will be a player in the mold of Kemoeatu, but his ceiling is a little higher than Maake's.

I think cody has the potential to be one of the best nose tackles in the nfl. I got a prediction next year greggs gone and cody makes the pro bowl yes the pro bowl. our staff will work hard to get him in shape and his conditioning up. And in doing so he will help keep ray lewis clean for a few more years.

I think Cody has a higher potential than any D lineman in that draft.

I just dont see it man ... I'm not holding his technique issues against him; nearly all rooks have that problem. Hell, look at Mario Williams. I think he's the best DE in the game, but his rookie year wasn't that great due to his struggles with technique and the fine points of the game. But near the end of his rookie season, you could see him quickly putting it all together. He also had/has the physical tools to be an elite player.

But when I look at Cody ... I see a kid who is just as raw as the day we drafted him; no real signs of progress, despite seeing significant playing time throughout the year. On top of that, his only physical assets are sheer mass, and his natural strength (what I mean is, he doesn't have training room strength, as we saw at the combine when he only put up 22 reps. Freaking Jay Cutler put up more reps than Cody did. But he really knows how to use his size to his advantage and throw his weight around).

Didn't we say that this year too?
I really hope Cody proves me wrong.

Fyi, Dan Williams was amazing for the Cardinals in his limited playing time

I think Cody can be an elite player if he loses a lot of body fat and gains some muscle (which shouldn't be impossible with our conditioning crew)

I think Cody has a higher potential than any D lineman in that draft. He's big and athletic, but he could be stronger and in better shape. He also has a lot to learn about football and hand placement as far as beating guys goes. Definitely a "prospect" and as a second rounder he was a great pickup. Ngata would have been better recognized if we used our rookies more, which is why I think fans don't appreciate Cody yet either.

I agree. I think Cody will be much better next year and this post-season will be his warm up to next season when he starts full time at NT. I think Ozzie's second round luck will turn around with Cody and it will be even better with Kindle if he can turn it around.

I have to be honest when I saw that I thought how the hell did Charles get back up, and my second thought was where did Charles go?

I think Cody's ceiling is more in the Casey Hampton range, in the pass rush he's just going to push the C backwards and walk him into the QB and in the run game he's going to be immovable once he gets the idea of hand placement down with Clarence Brooks. Its not to say he's guaranteed to be the multiple pro bowler than Hampton is but when I look at Hampton and how Hampton plays and how he's used I see exactly how Cody should be used and how Cody plays. Cody in his limited snaps this year was pretty good, especially when he was lined up at NT (why we kick him out to DE ill never know). He dominated the interior of the Falcons Oline, an Oline that blocks for a 1300 yard rusher and was a one man wrecking crew that forced the Falcons to be one dimensional. When he's in on run plays that are dives/ isos/powers the C cant move him and Cody more often than not walks him into the backfield and leaves a giant gap for a LB. He struggles with pad level and hand placement and his pad level could be due to flexibility in his hips which is workable. Not only that but we needed a true 3-4 NT, Gregg is 34 and off microfracture and has struggled at times this year and Redding has been playing really good football the last month.

With Dunlap I dont know if he could have excelled inside the way he's excelled at 4-3 DE, he's so tall and lean built that I think he would take a beating against the Gs in the run game.
