Terrence Cody's Siragusa Moment

Cody makes a hustle play forcing a fumble on Charles but also just simply falls on him and basically squishes Charles. After this play whether it be by Weiss' choice or Charles got dinged up abit from the play, Charles wasn't the same force he was prior to that. I know alot of people werent happy with the Cody pick but this play itself shows his potential as he slices through the LOS and doesn't quit on the play which is something you cant teach.

I was impressed by that play, and he's shown potential through out the year. If he works some more on conditioning he'll be all pro for sure.

That's a lotta beef on top of that Charles and dirt sandwich!
Mt. Cody will be good one for us for a long time.

Speaking of beef, how bout that Kelly Gregg firing through and blowing up KC's 4th down run!

If Cody can lose some weight, add some muscle and improve his stamina in the off-season, he should be a force next season. This was a great play though; I love the hustle.

He just needs to do that next week to Ben.
Not to ben, they'll flag him.

I think I'd rather see a Cody/hiney/dirt sandwich!

The problem is Cody does get many snaps early in games to get a rhythm, but after charles got a couple of 7-10 yd runs I noticed Ngata wasnt on the field and then they begin rotating Cody and McKinney more....

Next year I'm Sure Cody will man the middle full time

By drafting Kindle, I'm sure the team felt they'd addressed the pass rush for the most part.

Well, that didn't stop us from drafting two TE's back-to-back... again, hindsight will always be 20/20. I'm holding out hope that Kindle will be donning purple and black next season.

True. With the pass rush, you already have a dominant player in Suggs who should be playing a high level for four, maybe five seasons. Prior to the draft, Davon Drew was the only TE on the roster behind Heap.

Agreed about Kindle though.

They do, don't they! Makes me really question my call of "egg's over medium w/bacon" today at the Williamsburg Inn. I won't make that mistake next weekend!

Couple things regarding that:

- Kindle is also excellent against the run. He's basically James Harrison 2.0. I think Kindle was brought in for his pure talent, not just as a pass rusher; meaning that much like Suggs, his sack totals probably wouldn't reflect his abilities due to the way we use him. He would certainly improve the pass rush, but I don't think he alone would have revamped our rush.

- But assuming that he would have been all we needed, I still felt Dunlap was light years ahead of Cody as a prospect. He's just flat out better than Cody ... and considering the sorry shape our line was in (and still is), I really wanted to see us go out and get the best DL in the entire class.

Admittedly, I've never liked Cody ... I was cussing up a storm when they announced his name lmao ... but who knows. Maybe one day he'll become what we hope he will be. After a season, I'm not very optimistic about that though.

There's no denying Cody has incredible talent. I wouldn't judge him by what he's done this season alone, since we hardly use our rookies (except D Reed who is on KRs, and a monster at that I might add).

Cody is probably the closest anyone will get to replicating Ngata. It took Ngata a few years to really get rolling. So it will take Cody a few years to... yeah, rolling.

"Incredible" is a strong word to use. I think he has potential. But nowhere near Ngata's potential. I think Cody's ceiling is going to be like Maake Kemoeatu ... a huge, strong DT who is solid against the run and will occasionally eat up two blockers depending on the matchup, but brings little else to the table.
BTW ... Ngata was banging heads from day one (remember his 60 yard INT in his NFL debut?). Just took a couple years before people started to really appreciate him.

I think Cody has a higher potential than any D lineman in that draft. He's big and athletic, but he could be stronger and in better shape. He also has a lot to learn about football and hand placement as far as beating guys goes. Definitely a "prospect" and as a second rounder he was a great pickup. Ngata would have been better recognized if we used our rookies more, which is why I think fans don't appreciate Cody yet either.

Agreed with your first point.

I agree about Dunlap but coming out of Florida, there were serious questions about his effort, work ethic and his DUI also brought questions about character. Granted, those very same questions surrounded Kindle and Cody but I still feel the team was right in drafting them as they likely saw Kindle as J.J,'s long-term replacement and Cody replacing Gregg.

If Arthur Jones develops, I think the d-line will be fine but with all the quality DEs that'll be in the draft, I think the team will be able to "guarantee" the d-line is shored up.

I won't say he has "nowhere near" the potential of Haloti. Kemoeatu is no slouch but I'd put Cody's ceiling higher than that. Although the impact performances from him have been far and few in between, what he showed against the Panthers in pre-season, against the Falcons and even today are signs of a guy who could be really special if he commits to being great.
