It's a great thing for Heap to have the kind of game he had today. He's had such bad luck with injuries the past few years and has always hung in and worked hard to get back. Todd, you are Da' MAN!

He's a gamer. I hope the young TEs are learning all they can from him.

Yes, hopefully as much as Heap learned from Shannon!

He is a very important part of the offense, especially when the other receivers can't get open.

It's not that they can't get open, they are put into a situation which doesn't allow them to get open. There was the one first down pass to Heap in their zone, where he was running a drag route. They showed the play from above and Boldin, Mason, Housh were all running deep routes (two were running streaks).

Flacco really had no other low-medium option than Heap. Just bad play-calling. Cam had some times where his play-calling was utilizing our receivers strengths but then he reverted back to sending them all deep.

I wonder if the offensive guys even talk to Cam and give him input on stuff like the defensive guys do? Ray Lewis or Ed Reed will let Greg M know what is working and not working or what should be called and he listens or adjusts...does anyone go to Cam and tell him that they should run something to their strengths?

The players certainly talk to Cam and Saunders and Zorn probably have provided input too but from what I've heard Cam has a stranglehold on game-planning. Considering we've seen the same types of plays all year, I'd say Cam doesn't really listen to advice he's given.

The story that he talked to Hue Jackson last week actually surprised me.

I wouldn't say it was bad play calling when it allowed Heap to consistently be put in 1v1 matchups over the middle that he exploited.

Boldin had a good game as well, Cam had him going across the middle several times for some nice gains.

Well I agree that it wasn't bad play-calling, I think Cam called one of his better games. But he still went back to some of his tendencies which usually produce nothing.

It was nice using Heap in the middle a lot. Something we should had been doing more this year.
