T.o. Placed In "reasonable Cause" Drug Testing Program

4 posts in this topic

On the same day the Dallas Cowboys announced that wide receiver Terrell Owens had agreed to a contract extension with $13 million in guaranteed money, Owens was in New York meeting with NFL officials after being placed in the league's "reasonable cause" testing program for performance-enhancing drugs, sources told ESPN.

Basically, T.O. missed phone calls on the days he was selected to be randomly tested, therefore giving the league reasonable cause to increase his number of annual testings.

Not exactly earth-shattering news, but still ironic given that T.O. is in better shape than guys 10 years younger than him, and has been suspected of using performance enhancers before. However, it is important to note that he has never failed a drug test, nor did he fail an impromptu test that was administered upon meeting with NFL officials on June 3rd.

But, goes to show you how careful NFL players have to be nowadays, especially if they're even SUSPECTED of trying to gain a chemical edge.

Personally, I don't think he juices up, but you have to believe that he'll be struggling with injuries at some point, and conditioning will be a bit more difficult for him right now at the age of 34. No matter how much of a physical specimen he may be, even he can't fight Father Time.

Yeah, I don't think he juices either, but I admit the first thing that came to mind when I saw that headline was "well, THAT explains the shape he's in."

I hate that everyone always seem to assume the worst of a guy right up front. He's never failed a test before and outside of his mouth, he's never been in any off the field trouble. He deserves the benefit of the doubt.
