If I'm not mistaken, the AFC North plays the NFC West next season...

Harbaugh Bowl!

We sure do! Could be a night game :)

Wow.... I'm surprised. I thought for sure he would have stayed since Luck stayed but I wonder if Luck will change his mind. Congrats Jim... looking forward to the Harbaugh Bowl next season!

I knew he wouldn't be able to pass up the Moola and go back to Stanford. Plus 49ers is a good spot to be. Good run game, defense is there, young OLine. He just needs to solve the QB play. Shouldn't be hard since it seems he can develop a young QB.

We do play the 49ers next season, and I'll be the first to put it out there: I will be p****d if we lose that, regardless of how good Jim is.

Good for him though, I hope he is successful there. I wish him Luck...

maybe he will draft luck?
[/quote]

Not in 2010. And I doubt he wants to be the worst team in 2011 to get Luck.

It's interesting that he was allegedly offered $5.2M/year to coach Michigan... I guess the NFL was too much to pass up.

will be interesting too see how harbaugh approaches the 49ers QB situation.

i geuss he still has a shot at drafting Luck. going back for his senior year could mean Luck gets over-evaluated and his stock drops. or maybe he'll find a guy he likes this year or one of the Smith's will work out

I'm trying to figure this one out, San Fran runs a 3-4, Jim Harbaugh ran a 4-3 defense in Stanford? You guys think he'll switch the 49ers to a 4-3 defense? Makes sense to me as not only is he use to it but also with everyone running the 3-4 it could be a good time to make the switch to the 4-3.

Who's Jack Harbaugh going to be supporting?

I'm even more confused by Luck's decision to stay at Stanford after this. Hasn't he seen what happens to projected 1st overall picks when they go back to school?

One example: Jevan Snead. Now, I'm not saying Luck is anything like Snead but Snead was a projected 1st round pick, as high as top 5, as low as a second rounder. Snead decided to go back to Ole Miss where he looked awful and went undrafted. I'm sure Luck could've forced a trade that would've sent him to San Fran with Jim Harbaugh.

Good luck to Harbaugh. I can see them going for a veteran stop-gap now until the 2012 draft rolls round so Harbaugh can get his guy.

I can see Harbaugh going after Josh Johnson from Tampa Bay to start his regime....

EDIT: For those who didn't know, Harbaugh was the head coach at San Diego and Johnson was his QB.

I can see him going for Kyle Orton since he might be the best QB available in Free Agency. He could go for McNabb but we'll see. I wouldn't be surprised to see him trade for Kyle Orton and whenever Luck does come out, trade for Luck. I also think that maybe Jim can convince Luck to change his mind, and the 49ers will make a blockbuster trade to move up from 7 to 1 to get him.

Panthers said that if he declared they were taking him no matter what. Only way Jim gets him is if he pulled an Eli Manning/John Elway and told the Panthers he would never play for them, forcing a trade to the 9ers. Or, he bides his time, gets a stop-gap (Orton, McNabb etc.) and hopes Luck slides.

Also too, Luck can stay, he can get a stop gap, like Orton or McNabb and get Luck next year.
