Nfl.com Around The League For June 5

For anyone interested, more discussion on Troy Smith. Stuff we've already heard, but it seems the media in general is finally paying some attention to him. Hopefully all of the good publicity won't affect his practices, I would rather have our QB competition fly a little under the radar myself and whoever ends up starting blows the league away in September.

EDIT- heres an actual article written essentially saying the same thing

Pshh, it's a little early to compare Smith & Flacco to Anderson & Quinn, but it's good to hear he's doing well.

It's great to hear he's picking up the system so quickly and making plays, but, again, it's only June. There are over 3 months left until week 1, anything can happen. It's all about who's playing the best then, not now.

No one outside of Baltimore was really watching the Ravens after the Monday night beatdown in Pittsburgh, save for the dramatic Monday night game against the Patriots.

I'm shocked I was still watching even after getting blown out by the Colts in that Sunday night game. I guess I'm a sucker for pain... :(

Back to the QB issue, though, I'll take the diplomatic approach again and be fine with whoever ends up as the starter, just so long as they EARN the job. Even if it's *ugh* Boller.

Haha, very true.

I'm not gonna lie, I loved Troy Smith @ Ohio State, and I love him as a Raven so I'm secretly hoping he gets the chance to start at least a few games this year, but I'm right there with you. I may be a Troy Smith fan but more importantly I'm a Baltimore Ravens fan. Even if its Kyle (no offense Kyle) who earns the job in the coaches' eyes, then he earned it and let him start.

I still am shocked you don't hear/read much about Troy having a shot. ESPN had a poll after Flacco was drafted asking the question of who was going to be our starting QB come September, and Troy Smith wasn't even on the poll. Did people just not watch him play last season? I don't get it, he's a rookie and did decent for his debut(s).

i just want a good solid QB either way I s was so happy to see McNair retire I know everyone liked him me personaly thought he was garbage.... But it is way to early to count Flacco out I mean he just hit OTA's sunday the 31 was his last day of school.. But i am glad to hear of Smith doing well..

I hate how the media always has to compare. Our situation with Troy Smith will be very different from Anderson. For one, Anderson came off the bench. Smith might actually retain the starting job from last year. Anderson had it the year before last and lost it twice.

None of that. Unless you went to OSU or Delaware, were all Ravens fans here. I'd prefer Smith at this point because I want to see what he can do and I dont want to throw Flacco in to early but as long as its not Boller, Ill be happy.

Enjoy man. But I'm kind of partial to UMD. Smith should start this season. Its as simple as that. I'm not saying he has to finish the season as the starter, but he does have to start it off for us.
