Convicted Steroids Dealer Found Dead

6 posts in this topic

A convicted steroids dealer who recently met with NFL security officials and gave them names of players he said bought steroids from him has been found dead in his home.

Source: ESPN.com

Definitely sounds fishy, especially considering the fact that he had supplied sensitive information that would've put a lot of people in jail.

This is why it's important for the identities of witnesses and other persons of interest in any investigation to be kept anonymous, even if the public may have a right to know.

I'm just hoping that the person who had intercepted a letter from the alleged killer of Denver Bronco CB Darrent Williams doesn't meet the same fate, and that law enforcement does everything in its power to bring that person (as well as the killer of this convicted dealer, criminal or not) to justice.

Sad story, if you read it, and definitely fishy.

But the guy seemed to have many, many clients; who's to say a member of the NFL was responsible for his and his wifes' deaths?

Well, he was shot to death. Its going to be fishy. May he rest in peace. I just hope none of those named players were involved. The last thing the NFL or any major sport needs is a "scandal" like this.

That's the only thing I'm worried about, really, is another scandal.

berad had a point about how he probably had a long list of clientele that likely included people outside of the NFL as well, but the specter (no pun intended) of another possible NFL scandal still looms.

First priority, of course, is catching whoever's responsible for these deaths. But from there, the possibility exists that a horrible web could unfold that could damage a major sport.

We all know baseball doesn't need another steroid-related scandal. And basketball doesn't need steroids when gambling and cheating have already been in the spotlight. Hockey has already lost a huge segment of its fanbase in the United States, and soccer isn't significant enough in the U.S. for a scandal to really have an impact compared to other sports.

They're saying it's a suicide: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3429424

It's still weird, especially since another body was there.

You beat me to updating this topic.

I think it's weird, too, since they're not ready to say whether it was truly a murder-suicide yet until they examine the other victim.

The police are still waiting for the medical examiner's FINAL report before they can determine whether it was as cut-and-dry as that.

And, of course, there's still a few OTHER possibilities (maybe MADE to LOOK like a murder-suicide, etc.), but that's just wild speculation. For now, I understand and respect the police's wait-and-see approach, since that seems to be the responsible thing to do.
