Well the decision was probably easy when Carolina said they are taking him no matter what. He's a west coast boy and probably doesn't want to compete with Clausen for the job.

He's probably hoping that Seattle, San Fran, Oakland need a first pick QB next year.

I wonder what Carolina will do with that #1 pick now. Can't see them getting an awful lot for it seeing as there doesn't seem to be a standout-number-one-pick worthy player.

That and the ever looming CBA.

Unless Clausen got a lot better, real fast, there was no way he was keeping Luck from the top of Carolina's depth chart.

I thought he would've gone where ever Jim Harbaugh went, doesn't look like the case now.

Yea I agree. But if Luck struggled he'd have to be looking over his shoulder at the highly touted Clausen a lot. Not exactly ideal to have two big name young QBs on the roster.

What competition? lol

Only competition Clausen would win is worlds biggest Dbag.

I heard Luck wants one more year with his guys and he would miss his professors. I pray that nothing bad happens to this kid, he seems like a less in your face version of Tim Tebow. Great Character.

I agree, Luck sounds like he legitimately wants to stay in school to earn his degree; from what I understand, his dad talked to him and told him that the NFL will always be there but his college days won't. Not only that, but he's apparently gotten good grades in his major (architectural design), so it's not as if he's looking to breeze through this next school year. He's got a good head on his shoulders. I wish this kid all the success in the world.

That said, I also think money might've factored in; with labor uncertainty next season, there was no guarantee he'd get big money. It was better for him to wait another year to polish his game and enjoy his final college days, than to rush into the NFL. Even if he has a down year, he'll still be sought-after and will make a boatload of money.

I 100% agree with all you just said above. Most Underclassman declare because of the money, and I can see why some are declaring because this is the last chance to get all the money they can before a rookie scale comes in. Luck is playing it smart and no doubt he is going to be the top QB again in 2012 but now it will be a matter of who will pick him.

Now the question comes of Jim Harbaugh, I think with Luck staying Harbaugh will go back to Stanford as well and wait a season because for one, the Dolphins are being such jerks interviewing other candidates while they still have a Head Coach and Jim shouldn't go coach for a organization who would do such a thing and second he should wait to see what happens after next season as I expect more coaching jobs to be opened since it seems most teams kept coaches due to uncertainty of the CBA.
