Flacco's Demeanor

Wow i don't know if the clip helps you think he is more vocal or a straight up wimp. Joe looks like he is cussing the Ref out for nothing. Disappointing to see him behave that way after that weak hit.
A weak hit? He got kneed in the head! It was a late hit and there was no need for it. Yes he is usually a lot less vocal, but even quiet people have their breaking point. I'm sure he is under a lot of stress most of the time. A QB has a lot on their shoulders. Give the guy a little slack!

Now we know the truth of why Flacco was pissed. There was a bounty on his head by the Saints and the Officials turned a blind eye on it. At least Flacco knew what was going on because the Saints were getting in all these last second hard hits that was trying to force him out of the game. Good thing, Flacco hung in tough and gave that ref a piece of his mind.

While I don't believe he lead us to the playoffs the first 2 seasons (managed games would be the better words), I do agree he did this year.

My problem is the hypocrites who will say Flacco lead us to the post season and that Sanchez is only there because of their defense..

I didn't know people still talked about Joe not being more vocal...especially after the Saints game.

Joe is doing great out of College. But for him to really reach his potential, Cam Cameron has to go and he needs to work on the simple stuff. Quicker releases, faster progressions, attacking the middle of the field.
Bountygate? He looked like he wanted to injure joe's neck when he drove with his knee.

Wow I hadnt thought about that hit since that game. PRIMETIME example of a bounty on Joe Flacco. New Orleans deserved everything they got and more, the Saints are a disgrace. Which leads me to think, why did Ben Grubbs go there what was he thinking!!

EXACTLY!!!!

you can see #91 intentionally kneeing Joe in the neck on that late hit. wow!! the saints are a bunch of bums! smh!

1st...it was the patriots with "spy gate"
2nd.it is the saints with "bounty gate"

i wonder what the next "gate" will be and which team will be involved?

Yeah, and now we know that the Saints were getting paid for hits like that, so I guess it wasnt weak and I guess it wasnt an accident.

Lesson to learn...

Never go to conclusion without learning both sides of the story. With the Bountygate now exposed, I'm glad Flacco gave that ref a piece of his mind because the refs did not do enough to protect players from such dirty and intolerable actions like bounties. I think refs are now going to be more intolerable to dirty hits. Heck they might straight up eject players for questionable hits. I guess Harrison is not going to be pleased.

Please note that this thread is for discussing Joe's demeanor. If you want to discuss whether or not Joe is an elite quarterback, please use the existing thread. We're not going to have two active threads on the same subject as that just leads to repetitive posting.
I don't understand why there needs to be a thread about Joe's demeanor and a separate one about whether he's elite. Just put it all under one thread called "The Fans That Will Forever [profanity deleted] About Everything They Think Flacco Is Not."

No matter what the guy does, it won't ever be good enough here. If I'm Flacco, they'd have to overpay to keep me here. And if they tag me, I'd hold out til week one.

The rules favoring offense is already ridiculous. The flags & fines are already ridiculous. I'm honestly hoping that refs don't get more involved than they already are. I liked how the playoffs played out this year... it seemed that they were actually allowing the players to play. I think the biggest issue that Flacco had with situation is that certain quarterbacks get those calls without any hesitation and Flacco is not one of those guys. That is not going to change. There will always be special treatment for the Tom Bradys. But with head shots, it should be penalized. Head injuries should be taken very seriously. And obviously cheap shots shouldn't be allowed (obvious late hits, launching at a player away from a play ie Wards hit on Reed, intentionally going bellow the knees, etc). With Joe's situation it was defiantly a late hit & the player was using his knee intentionally. But when I see hits like Pollard made in the Jags game and he gets flagged & fined for what really is a clean hit.. it boils my blood.

If there name isn't Tom Brady, Peyton, and soon to come, Andrew Luck, they ain't getting any calls. And Flacco will continue getting no calls because not many including his own fans (minus myself) likes him or his demeanor.

I don't see it. It looked like he was trying to pull up and didnt wanna jump over and hit his teammate or injure himself. It looked liked he was trying to slow down and the hit looked fine.. Of course every tackle will be disputed as such because of bounty gate.

Yeah the way he is putting his arms out there to brace himself really spells out "bounty". Think you guys are overreacting a little bit.

EDIT: NEG -3 for voicing an opinion LOL! when did Baltimore fans become Philly fans? Yeah, they put a 1 billion dollar bounty on flacco to put your hands on his back and drive the knee cap into his face so they can take him out of the game because he was a huge threat and an elite qb. give me a break. Please act a little bit more educated than that.

This non-Flagged/fined play was fine. We have seen players before coming in with closing speed dropping down before the QB or finishing plays to make sure there isnt a fumble, but let's make a huge deal of this because of bounty gate...

gonna take names down of the people crying like babies about this so next time Suggs or anyone of our players touches Tom and there is a penalty, I am calling you out.

Yeah, Joe Flacco doesn't get calls because he isn't a vocal "rah rah" leader.

Let it rest. It's not a conspiracy. While I will say Refs favor Brady, I haven't seen it much with any other QB.

And those Refs did give us a play versus the titans Joe's rookie year when the play clock was expired and he threw the ball to heap for a first down. Why don't you bring that up?

Joe is a QB and all other 30 qbs besides him are treated the same. The 32nd being brady.
that was a mean knee shot. Looked like something from UFC smh but of course your excuse is "if it wasnt for the bounty bullcrap it wouldnt seem that way" no sir I thought the same then as I do now that it was purposely done and if you wanna get technical he was putting his arms out to brace himself for a cleaner hit to joes head...i mean it would definately be harder to aim without the support of his arms and he coulda also used them to make it look like an accident...but I couldnt careless its done and over with, joe didnt get hurt AND beat em so someone didnt get money and the team was saddened leaving bmore...not ruling out it was an accident but seriously back then and still now looks intentional

As a quarterback, you are one of the most important aspects to a Football team. one of the main driving forces behind moving the ball down the length of the field. being a leader also means Staying cool and collected under pressure AND the willingness to let fire be fire when the situation calls for it and Joe has demonstrated doing just that. thats a man you want, not a pre maddonna look at me look at me type. Joe is a driving force behind a majority what the team does and isnt afraid to show his leadership by asserting his emotions WHEN called upon.

Well if that's intentional I guess we are no better for signing guys like Pollard and Suggs who have also injured QB's or touched their helmets....

This is getting brought up because of the stupid bounty gate and you people are finding a reason to make it a big deal. It's done. Joe is a tough son of a gun, don't make him a lil <wimp> like Sanchez by coming forth with this crap.

If that is a UFC hit, I should join right now because thats like a knee spasm while I sleep. Nothing to see here, move along. <Deleted>

I'm responding to all of this all at once, so yeah.

He clearly wasn't trying to get out of the way. They knew what they were doing was wrong and probably tried to make it seem as incidental as possible. He's obviously pissed about something, its pretty clear what this is about. Do you hate Flacco so much you just won't admit the Saints would put a bounty on him? How thick are you? There's a difference between hitting the quarterback setting up a system to deliberately injure them, take down names all you want its not like this is a clear-cut black and white scenario.

The Titans play...they followed the letter of the law with that one. The referee watches the clock, when it hits 0 he looks to see if the ball is snapped. Was it snapped by 0? No. Was it snapped by the time the ref had turned his head to look? Yes. I don't have an NFL rulebook handy but the analysts on that game said it was technically the correct call. I'll take their word for it.

As far as favoritism... Flacco (2 years ago, not last season) was top 5 in sacks and bottom 5 in roughing the passer calls. I'm not saying the NFL is out to get the Ravens, but I do think they have a bias towards big-market teams. Manning and Brady generate a lot more revenue for them then we do, and they get better treatment for it. Again, I don't think its intentional it just is what it is. Zebras are more likely to throw flags for the NFL's golden boys.

What golden boys? There is one and it is Tom Brady. I've seen Brees get hit and I've seen Rodgers get destroyed. It's apart of the game. I just don't see that particular play being malicious.

Honestly, it has nothing to do with Joe.

I'm just saying I don't think that was a malicious hit and I can name several times where one of our guys had a late hit on a player. I just don't see the "UFC style Knee to the throat" like some people. I think it was clean; maybe not squeaky clean, but definitely not dirty.

I hope that the league looks at this clip before they dole out the punishment to the Saints' players in the bountygate. That was a blatant attempt to injure a helpless QB on the ground after the whistle had blown. The Ravens never seem to get these kind of calls. If it was Brady, there would have been a flag and a $50K fine.

Bounty!

It's apart of the game, there is testosterone flying and defenders wanna hit.....

My opinion (people have them, it's weird) is that you are basing that play on something that just came out on bounty gate when honestly, I have seen Haloti Ngata come in late on a play.

We can't just point the finger and say bounty on every hit or we are no better than Tom Baby.

And if it hurt Joe's throat so bad, I doubt he would be able to recite the 7 words you cant say on the radio to the refs.

Now that I've watched it again, and knowing about the bounty program, I'm definitely angry but I'm sure the Saints will pay for this. The media has been trying to spin this as an excessive punishment for what is considered part of the game. I say that the league should throw the book at the players not just the coaches and team.
