Flacco's Demeanor

114 posts in this topic

In today's Sun paper the column of Kevin Cowherd's, he hits the nail on the head about Joe Flacco and some of the fans . I said this before and I'll say it again it is truly amazing that a young OB strait out of college can come in and lead an NFL team to not one but three play offs in his first three years. And for those fans who wont Joe to be more of a Ra Ra guy . One little peace of information, a QBs job in the NFL is to lead with precise direction. He is not a cheer leader . Joe's demeanor is what you wont in a good QB. As for his production on the field it is only going to get better. A QB in the NFL is not something you throw into a micro wave oven and out pops NFL player of the year. A QB that comes strait out of college and leeds his NFL team to the supper bowl is exception not the rule .

While I don't believe he lead us to the playoffs the first 2 seasons (managed games would be the better words), I do agree he did this year.

My problem is the hypocrites who will say Flacco lead us to the post season and that Sanchez is only there because of their defense..

I didn't know people still talked about Joe not being more vocal...especially after the Saints game.

Joe is doing great out of College. But for him to really reach his potential, Cam Cameron has to go and he needs to work on the simple stuff. Quicker releases, faster progressions, attacking the middle of the field.

Please note that this thread is for discussing Joe's demeanor. If you want to discuss whether or not Joe is an elite quarterback, please use the existing thread. We're not going to have two active threads on the same subject as that just leads to repetitive posting.

I have to agree that Cowherd's article pretty much sums it up regarding the relationship between Flacco and the fans. Baltimore fans have always worn their emotions on their sleeves and we can be a tough crowd especially when it comes to sports. Some say that a true fan is one who stands by their team NO matter what and I have to somewhat disagree with that notion but I'll save it for another thread. If anyone has researched Flacco's background, they'd know that he's always been Joe Cool. That will not change but the experience that he gains will change his thought processes and how he executes on field. Given time, this kid will be rockin' the NFL for many years to come.

Wow i don't know if the clip helps you think he is more vocal or a straight up wimp. Joe looks like he is cussing the Ref out for nothing. Disappointing to see him behave that way after that weak hit.

You can't be serious. The guy gets kneed in the head and you say it's a "weak hit"? QBs around the league get flags thrown in their favor on less contract and Joe is a "straight up wimp" for wanting a flag on that play? Please...

The demeanor and his QB status in the NFL go hand in hand.

You said the above but nothing about the OP not having a link to the article, which is what I thought were the rules with these kind of topics for a thread. I think the no linky is more important than discussing something that has to do with Flacco's demeanor.

Actually, in this case a link would be a courtesy, not a requirement. The OP clearly states the source of the information and includes his own original thoughts.

It was a late hit, on top of that. The Ravens were upset because they were called for (and fined for) roughing the passer on a far less egregious play.

And anyone calling Joe Flacco a "wimp" :34853_shakehead:

Joe is from Jersey, the foul mouth shouldn't really surprise anyone...

As far as Joe being a "wimp" for complaining about being kneed in the head: say that to his 6'6" 240 lb face.

Can you give me one reason why you're a Ravens fan? Every post you make is so negative

Seriously? You guys will complain about anything. I guess Peyton Manning isn't a good QB because he keeps his emotions under control.

I had a Pitts friend that went to the Steelers @ Baltimore game that on the way out a Ravens fan told him, "I wish we had your quarterback." :34853_shakehead:
He was also surprised at how many of our fans throw Flacco under the bus and/or boo as soon as he does something wrong.

I told him there is no doubt we have some of the smartest, yet some of the dumbest fans. :(

I also think those fans were not around prior to the Superbowl team. So, they really have no idea what the Ravens came from.
I wish the bandwagonners would jump off, so I could move up on the Wait List.

I didn't see this as a "wimp" move or reacting to a weak hit. I loved how he reacted. It put a lot of fire into our team.

No Peyton Manning is a great QB because he does funny commercials and hosts Saturday NIght Live. Duh, thats why Flacco will never be great lol

I want to see Flacco on SNL now. That would be the most awkward and horrible thing on television, ever.
I actually think it would be pretty funny. People see Joe on the sidelines and think he has no personality but having heard him on the player shows and even in pressers this season, he's got some wit.

????????????????? Are you serious??? I"m not complaining about anything!! The point of my post was referring to the moderator's post, hence the reason I quoted what he/she posted...

Read the posts again.

My beef was getting on some of the other posters about "getting off topic" when the posts seem slightly warranted with the discussion at hand, while saying nothing about the no-link in the OP.

Joe has a lot of natural talent, as far as accuracy, rocket arm, etc.
I love when he gets emotional,as it is an emotional game. He gets pumped when we score and goes right over to whoever makes the play to give congrats.
Love that.
He is our future - just protect him.

Favre is boring but Brady was pretty funny on Family Guy.

We can't really question his demeanor, IMO. If he's the quiet leader who leads by example rather than getting into your face and firing the team up, so be it. So long as he shows progression in the playoffs, I could care less what his demeanor is.
