Yeah I like how they moved the release of Madden closer to the regular season. Hopefully with the later release date it gives them time to work on getting the default rosters right and not all screwy like it has been the past couple years.

If they weren't improving Franchise Mode the way they have already said, I would just finish creating rookies and just stay with Madden 11.

gotta admit the 3 days after my birthday is sweet too

Saw that video a couple days ago on the Madden website, the presentation stuff is cool but really in the end for me this game hinges on how much they upgraded franchise mode, and how much they upgraded the actual gameplay physics. DBs shouldnt be able to cover 2 guys at once in a cov 3, LBs shouldnt be able to jump 9 feet in the air to pick off a ball thats being thrown 10 yards over their head. They need to do a better job with pass rush physics, the no suction blocking will be a huge improvement.

But its nice they got Ray's dance right lol

IGN article about the new Superstar mode improvements. This is what I like to see. Superstar mode has always had great potential but they never made it what it could be. These improvements are really pushing me toward actually getting Madden this year. Looking forward to reading about the new Franchise enhancements. Still not completely sold and will be waiting a week or so after release to read all the harsh criticisms before I decide, but its looking more promising than the last few years of Madden.

Loved everything I read in that article. I like how sitting a rookie is actually a working strategy this year. It happens often in the NFL, but in the previous Maddens recently, all sitting a rookie really did was stymie their development. The streaks go without saying, it just makes sense as almost every player has good and bad days/weeks in the NFL. However, my favorite part was the team roles, I've been waiting for them to implement something of that nature for years. If it's pulled off like it should be, it will definitely bring a new dynamic to who you pick up for your team and how much you value them and the players already on your team.

^ what he said....and sign that 2K Sports guy who took over Donnie Moore to an extension. Dude has done more in 6 months than Moore did in 3 years, and the 2K guy got rid of Moore's biggest accomplishment "Pro Tak" and replaced it with a better interface principles and animations.

Cool, I was really hoping they would do that.
Probably what I wanted the most.

It's good to see Player Roles come back, I like what I read before about expanded Rosters and a Cut Day Feature, but I'm still going to make my decision off what is revealed on Monday when they release the full Franchise Mode Blog.

That all sounds awesome, particularly the emphasis on realism and how players can have bad days and develop bad traits (fumble prone). It sounds like no two Franchise modes are ever going to go the same, and you can be a great player and still have a wrench thrown into your gameplan due to extenuating circumstances. I like that, as I quite simply don't *like* winning every week, and like the idea of having a greater challenges like these to overcome.

Still not *completely* sold as I want to wait and see about release day bugs/design flaws and how they impact the experience. Ever since the Madden franchise went next-gen (360/PS3) and stopped innovating or even improving anything except Online mode, I've been very careful about buying Madden games. I bought 09 and traded it in quickly, didn't touch '10, 08, or 07 due to the lack of improvements from 06. In fact, I recall Superstar mode and Franchise mode getting worse during that period.

Of course, my dream would be for the Madden franchise to go back to the presentation values of Madden 05, back when EA Sports had to compete with 2k Sports. That competition needs to come back for the sake of football video game fans.

I hear you on that. Winning every week and blowing the computer out of the water becomes incredibly boring. I have to sim weeks just to have a losing record... or try really hard just to lose.

I agree the one thing I noticed in 2011 was when you didnt blow out the comp it made it nigh impossible to do anything , it was like microsoft and ea said well how can we sell controllers realy fast lol , Glad to see EA came to thier senses about the game and the set up for franchise !

I don't know if you guys looked at the Screen Shots for Franchise Mode on the IGN article about Franchise Mode Improvements but you should. It shows images for Superstar Mode and Franchise Mode. I like that the Drafted Rookie have actual pictures and the fact that there is a Bidding System for Free Agency!

Here's a Link to the Album:

The crowd... I am excited for NCAA 2012 because of the crowd, and stadium enhancements. Sometimes I feel the madden crowd is non existent. Apparently EA's team has never been to M&T bank stadium, and listened to us on a 3rd down when the steelers have the ball, and Ngata bull rushes Roethlisberger down for a sack.

Tomorrow is the big day when EA will release the Franchise Mode Blog, and even though small details have been released already, here is even more(and these are bigger details) about Franchise Mode:

- Switch Teams in Off-Season

- Ebay Style Bidding Wars on Free Agents

- Edit ANY Player, Created, Veteran or Rookie

- Better Retirement Logic

Read More Here: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/116/1168424p1.html

After Reading this, I'm even more excited for the Franchise Blog tomorrow and I'm probably going to my first Mid night release to get this game.

I'll be honest, from the early info this looks like it could easily the best Madden on next gen consoles.

The having pictures for made up rookies is a bit weird...

Wow JO. You've never been to a midnight realease for Madden? I'm shocked to say the least lol
lol I have never been into the hype of that. Now I have gone to Wal Mart at Midnight and bought Madden 10 before but that was a month or so after the game was released.

Let me ask you guys something, currently in Madden every team has 7 original picks with a Max of 10 and not reflecting real life. For Example, Patriots only had 1 1st Round Pick, instead of 2 and the Raiders were able to keep their 1, Vikings kept the 3 despite Moss being traded.

As we saw this year the Patriots have 2 1st & 2nd Round Picks next year because of the Draft, do you think that trades for picks should be reflected in Madden?

EX. You start a Franchise and the Patriots have 2 1st and 2 2nd right off the bat, Saints don't have a 1st and whoever gave the Patriots their 2nd don't have a 2nd, etc.

2. Play Other Games: Remember the days on the PS2 where even if you did a 1 team Franchise, you could have the option of playing other games during the week, bring that back. That way we could create our own parity if we wanted to.
I have to say it's weird quoting yourself but I just found out that you could actually play other games in Franchise Mode. If only someone had told me how to do that before I might have enjoyed Franchise on Madden 11 a little more.

If you only choose a 1 Team Franchise and would want to play other games to create your own parity, or play out the results of a real season, go into the section that says NFL Info, Click on League Schedule and once you click on a game it will ask to Sim or Play the Game, and just hit Play. Thus the ability to play other games and create your own parity!

Now only if I had known this before I created all the Rookies. I think I'm going to be playing out past seasons of real life now.

Oh it's a done deal now. I will be purchasing it. Might preorder it actually in the next couple of weeks. Haven't been this excited about a Madden game coming out in a while.

Edit: I've never been to a midnight release period.

Yeah I just read the Franchise Mode Blog and I'm glad I preordered it this morning. I must say I look at some of those things they added and they could have been added in the past but I guess they wanted to make a big splash and give Franchise a complete Overhaul, which they did. I love the new Bidding System for Free Agency, and I'm glad they finally re-tuned the Import Draft Class Feature for when you transfer from NCAA to Madden.

Other things that stand out to me:

- Future Draft Picks, now you have a set of 14 picks to work with(7 in 2012 and 7 in 2013) which is great but hopefully they removed the 10 Picks Max limit and made it 15.

- Expanded Roster & Cut Days

- New Scouting System

- Change Teams in Off-Season

- Edit Any Player in Franchise

Don't feel bad I have never been to a Midnight Release either and I'm going to my first this year.

For those who haven't seen the Blog here is the link to it:

That sounds really good. I'll definitely buy it now, although the chances were that I would have anyway unless they had decided to do absolutely nothing.

My favorite part of the entire article:
Last year, a team like the 49ers would always re-sign a player like Alex Smith because they had no other alternative on the team at his position. They would never take his potential into account and keep him on the roster for years.

This year they’ll make decisions more intelligently, getting rid of Smith and addressing the QB position in free agency or the draft.

Video Talking about some of the new Features in Franchise Mode.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUdLS5yNky4

I will say I do like how the Players have some sort of saying under neath in terms of Cut Day. I saw a screen shot where it had Todd Collins saying "Give Me Another Chance, I only have 1 shot."
