Oft-troubled Player Re-signed, Then Suspended

4 posts in this topic

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Jerramy Stevens was suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2008 season

and fined an additional game check on Wednesday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

So, umm...he's cut by the Bucs after last season, then re-signed last week, and has now been suspended?

And after all the off-field transgressions he's had over the years, dating back to his COLLEGE days?

Anyone remember this article that we were all disgusted by in an older thread?

Let me get this straight: Pacman Jones can be faced with a litany of legal issues, possibly be indirectly at fault for a man's paralysis (thus taking away his livelihood), be questioned by police multiple times, and STILL be traded to the team he wants to play for, let alone STILL be IN the league? Jerramy Stevens can be accused of rape, fail multiple drug tests, be convicted of assault, and be convicted of a DUI, and STILL be rewarded with a contract after initially getting cut from his team? And both men are supposed to be first-round draft picks?

Makes me sick...

Seems like this story isn't getting much notice. Flipping around SportsCenter last night, they were more than happy to show clips of Pacman at...practice. But this story only got the little scrolling text at the bottom of the screen. You'd think this guy would run out of chances sooner or later, or that at least that a reporter make a big deal out of it.

I'm sick of the off-field issues, but this definitely deserves more attention.

All of these off-field issues make me so happy to know that no one on our team has dissappointed us like this recently. I think that speaks huge amounts about the integrity of all our guys.
