Tough to overcome poor o-line play.
While that is true, thats not a good enough excuse. I mean does Flacco really need a great offensive line, great receivers, great running backs and a perfect offensive coordinator to succeed? If so, maybe we should of drafted him in the 7th.

I think Flacco just needs the last part. A better coordinator.

The o-line has affected the entire offense, not just Flacco. A better coordinator would have helped this season but 40 sacks surrendered this season(I know not all of them been on the o-line), numerous QB hits and vastly inferior run blocking have hurt the offense as a whole.

If you look at it from a psychological standpoint, pessimists are more likely to call because they are more compelled to speak out about their opinion due to their anger and dissatisfaction. They need an outlet and use these call-in shows as a cathartic release. In some cases, callers also seek validation of their opinions. We, as humans, crave affirmation and we like being told that we're right. We hate being told that we're wrong and we hate being excluded from the majority.

That doesn't mean that there aren't optimists out there, they just have no incentive or motivation to call.
Tis the truth. Sometimes I seriously want to call and give a big rant and just start yelling sometimes

But they are all well-founded and not ridiculous like some of these folks

"Long time listener first time caller" I love when people feel the need to say that.

Also, I only listen to Scott and Jeremy, they are pretty funny in their banter and I like their segments like "he said she said" etc.
Sometimes I listen to the player shows afterward, but it depends who's on and how I feel.
I think the average person is a little more reasonable with their expectations. I once heard Brian from Owings Mills say "I don't have TIME to wait for Flacco to get better." A much higher percentage of the pessimists feel the need to call in and complain.
I usually like what Brian says, and even that quote about Flacco is at least funny to me.
Take it with a grain of salt.
Besides, the crazier the caller the better it is for ratings, it seems.
I still think Ken is the only good one on that station. Sucks he doesn't come on till late
Ken is nothing more than a blowhard.
Him and his silent pauses, and that thick accent, can't really stand they guy.
His trash talk actually got me fired up for the Ravens/Jets game more than anything. The guy is delusional.
Q is simply a sports fan without a home.
He likes whoever is hot at the moment.
I get a kick out of some of the crap he says, all in good fun. You can disagree with someone while laughing at them.
You could say that is what a sports fan is, technically,
but it's not why I watch them.
Being from Baltimore, I'm Ravens and O's only.
Werd. Its kinda like online reviews of businesses. Most of them are negative just bc people who are mad and dissatisfied are looking for a way to vent. Someone who is happy just goes on with life. No reason to tell anyone you are happy, lol.

Overall, I love THE FAN.... To be honest though, I'd really like to see Viv. and <Bulldog> hit the bricks. I can't really stand either of them for more then 15 mins.... Especially Damon. The biggest crybaby known to the airwaves.... He swears to be a genius but as soon as someone proves a vlid point, he takes his ball and leaves. I'd like to crack him in the jaw to be honest...

My problem with 105.7 is the when the co host say one statement like "wheres the killer instinct" and every caller runs with it for the entire show. Its almost like before they called they had no idea what they were gonna say so they just went with that. Maybe its me but that is the pattern Ive noticed on most of there shows, most callers just call in with uneducated guesses and no original comments just repeating what was said 10 times before. Also Aside from football season the station kinda runs out of things to talk about before and after nfl. The orioles dont justify having a station talk about them 24/7 and you can only talk so much about local schools.

I can understand that, its weird we have different reactions to that show because thats my favorite one on the lineup but the one thing that drives me nutz is how in the middle of a argument viv will just breakout into a commercial read then ethier continue the convo or go to a break.

Well, Bruce now has the best sportscaster in Balmer, Bob Haney, at his side for the foreseeable future. Bob is old school Baltimore, great radio voice, 100% authentic Balmer and very knowledgeable. Bob deserves his own show but in the meantime he will add a lot to Cunningham's show, Haney, Bruce and Preston should make for great radio.

I was thinking more like a "pack a day" voice.

They have to do that because of radio station regulations. TV stations are required to do it as well. They have to pay the bills by planning commercial breaks at certain intervals.

These breaks usually occur around the same times during each hour or half-hour, depending on the length of the program, so that sponsors can queue up that general time range to see if the station ran the ad that they paid for, as frequently as paid for. That's also why you see a lot of repeat ads. Station promos and station IDs, however, don't count as a true commercial break.

Nah I getch there and what your saying, I understand the business but it just kinda sucks the wind out of the room and completely random. I dont know any other radio station that does it that excessively, he just did it again for gramaphone, there were talking about where everyone is watching the game this weekend and bam he starts spouting gramaphone. I dont see howard stern doing that stuff until the commercials have started. Its probably just me but besides that little complaint its my favorite show to listen to on the station.

I cant listen to 105.7 the guy just repeats the same thing over and over and he is not very football savvy. I cant stand the WJZ post game thing either with Bulldog. He just needs a muzzle or a mutual muzzle to share with Marty Bass. God, Marty needs to just shut up

Bulldog is the worst. I have yet to find a single internet post about him that is positive. His voice is incredibly annoying, and he seems incapable of making a concise point. When he overpowers the other talker(s) and goes on a self-serving rant, I have to turn it off. I usually can't listen to that show anyway, but he is by far the most annoying radio personality on that station.

Yeah he is. And he always tries to justify his negative Nancy attitude. He's the complete opposite of Zinno. That rant that Zinno had a few weeks ago about Flacco was priceless. Which Bulldog was going away instead of Zinno.

It's hard to watch because I'm convinced Bulldog is the ugliest thing living on this planet.
As for Marty Bass, I love him, I hate him too, it's one of those things.
He is the most self-righteous, egomaniac but for some reason, I like watching.
It's sort of a hilarious train wreck for all the best and worst reasons.
I love hearing people complain about Bass, I get it, but he entertains me, as a human.

*begin toned-down rant on Bulldog*

Ever since I had the unfortunate "privilege" of seeing Bulldog grace my television set on WBAL-11 before I ever heard him on the radio, I've included him in my top 5 list of guys who shouldn't be broadcasters. Keep in mind, because I work in the field of radio, I'm more critical than the average audience member. However, never have I heard someone have absolutely no grasp of the flow of a broadcast before. He constantly goes on tangents that sound as if he's making things up as he goes along; that's not improvisation, that's just rambling. Not only that, but his tangents contain so much circular logic, I've wanted to bash my head against the wall for some of the mind-numbing things he's said. No offense to any of you, but he talks about the game like the average fan -- that's not a good thing as a broadcaster. Broadcasters must give the appearance that they know more than the audience about their particular field, even when that's not the actual truth. That means speaking confidently and using terminology appropriately. There is nothing about Bulldog's on-air persona that tells me that he knows more about football than I do, or that he can teach me anything about the field of radio or broadcasting. He makes sweeping generalizations that my 10-year-old nephew has made, and my nephew is only starting to get into football. He constantly steps onto his broadcast partners' sentences and interrupts them with the most inane comments. Bulldog also has some of the most puzzling score predictions I've ever seen; there've been only a dozen games in the entire NFL this season that have been decided by 1 point, and yet, many of his predictions have had 1-point differentials. For someone who allegedly coaches football, he speaks with very little knowledge of the game. He's supposedly had a long career in broadcasting, but he's done nothing to prove that to me, and I'm only an amateur in the field. At least I approach my craft like a professional; a so-called professional like Bulldog should do the same.

/rant

Wait...."there is a disconnect within the Ravens clubhouse".... more Dog-speak...
What exactly does this mean? Lol. Btw, I really get tired of him jockying the Steelers soo hard.... When we win our games by 3 its,"lack of killer instinct, or playing down to the competition" when the Steelers do it, its heroic, never-say -die, getting the job done...etc. He swears that if Harbs were to call him, the Dog could fix everything. Give me a break. He's a leper without a cause. Lol.

How about him and Viv. repeating the same phrases/words over and OVER AGAIN...? Things like " they're just not" or "really, really?"

Did anyone hear Flacco said on Webb's show last night. Apparently, he can check in and out of some plays but has to go with the play Cam called at other times. :34853_shakehead:

I think the people who are willing to call into a radio station and voice an opinion are more of the pessimistic kind. I'm sure its about even in real life though. It also makes for better ratings if there is something to argue.
It's said that a dissatisfied person will tell more people about a bad experience than a satisfied person will tell about a positive experience. People call into radio programs to vent and most people want to vent about something that makes them angry, not happy.

Speaking of 105, does anyone think that Ed Norris is out of place on a sports-themed channel. Nothing against him, because he actually has a good knowledge of sports. It's not because of his annoying NY accent either (i.e. the perple berd made a terd on the cerb).
I cannot recall for sure, but was there a time a few years ago when the station was not entirely sports oriented? Ed had the morning show about local stuff. I get the impression that he is being slowly phased out. I like Ed, but he just does nto seem to fit into a sports oriented program.

I find that morning sports guys are not usually sports guys at all. They dwelve more into everything else and dabble in sports.

DC sports talk stations are the same way. 106.7 has the Sports Junkies (I hate them). And they don't know crap about sports. They know more about entertainment and analyzing womens looks than football talk. Sportstalk 980 has Tony Kornheiser. Who picks up a Washington Post and talks about what he reads.

True, but better or different mechanics and a game plan to adjust for the OL deficiencies would have compensated for the lack of protection to some extent. Flacco is still holding the ball too long (Cam, Zorn, are you working on this?) and Cam shows no ability to adapt to changing games situations. A weaker OL is a season long changing games situation if you think about it. There are times that Flacco has plenty of time and still is unable to make a play. It's not just about the OL, but it is a factor.

Agreed. Holding onto the ball can attributed to WRs not getting enough separation but also the speed with which a QB makes his reads. Joe often seems slow in makings his reads and that could be partly due to his relative inexperience.
