Should Suggs Be Fined?

51 posts in this topic

Not trying to start controversy being that this is playoff week and all. But there are multiple topics about the playoffs and I wanted some Ravens fans perspective on this matter.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Video-Terrell-Suggs-uncalled-shot-to-Jerome-Si;_ylt=AkgI8lWeXgAzsmeS0WjUybRDubYF?urn=nfl-302568

Not sure if you all saw this during the game but Suggs retaliated against Simpson who was just trying to help him out towards the end of the game.

I'm just curious what you all think and if you expect a fine. Not stirring the pot, I know this is an emotional game so take out the fact that I'm a Steelers fan when answering.

Good Luck against the Chiefs.

Yes he should be fined. These guys are professionals and need to act like it. I understand that it's "an emotional game", but you need to keep them in check or else you will hurt the whole team and cost them the win.

That would have been a crucial personal foul if the referees would have caught it. If I'm not mistaken, that happened on a failed 3rd down attempt late in the game by the Bengals forcing them to punt.

I think he deserves a fine, but I don't think he'll get one... maybe $5k at most.

I believe it was a failed 4th down attempt.

Nope. Either Simpson made some dumb comment when he handed him the helmet or Suggs though that Simpson was the guy who ripped his helmet off his head and tried to injure him, that should have been a flag right there.

Without knowing if it was a retaliation or not, I'd have to say that it was highly unsportsmanlike, didn't look like it was all called for and should probably mean a minor fine.

He should know better, and he knows it. I don't think we'll see anything like it again.

No. He shouldn't be. I understand its classless and more or less dumb, but all he did was push him. It was barely a push at that from what I remember. I mean, they are football players, they're not ballerinas. It WAS unnecesarry, but its not really that big of a deal.

Possibly. I hope he at least apologized to Simpson because the hit seemed completely unprovoked. I was disappointed with Suggs after that, since it could've easily extended the drive.

Only if they fine the guy who grabbed Suggs by the facemask and ripped his head around earlier in the game.
Someone almost ripped his head off twice and they did not get called, those refs were awful on both sides yesterday.

He did kind of look like he was trying to help. Of course, he could have said something that Suggs didn't like, but in any case it's not smart and it's not a good sign. That kind of thing can come at the worst time, and the Ravens have improved at being disciplined but they still make mental mistakes.

Why would he get fined for that? I'm just glad that he didn't get flagged and given them a 1st down.

I just gotta say, Suggs arms looked like two giant tuna fishes sticking outta that jersey. I'm pretty sure based on your logic that Suggs "barely a push" would have felt like a right hook from Holyfield.

It was pretty blatant and I figured that most of you guys would have seen it that way. That truly would have been a game changer if the PF was called (even though the game didn't technically matter) and those blowups can't happen during the playoffs especially ones that happen after the whistle.

If you look at it and watch Simpson closely he kinda bends over and gets close to Suggs like he was gonna say something to him. Maybe Suggs will clear it up at some point.

Hey kids, he SHOVED SIMPSON IN THE FACE, snapping his head back. Of course he should be fined. If he doesn't, just goes to show the NFL is hypocritical in its approach to players safety. A punch isn't as harmful as helmet to helmet, so the fine shouldn't be that steep, but it's an act that has no place in this sport. This isn't hockey.

It was unsportsmanlike, and behavior like that can cost a game. (Example: NE meltdown game. flags flying everywhere. I think it was [correction Bart Scott] that threw the ref's flag even) It is never acceptable, caught or not caught.

I understand that. I know he shouldnt have done that, it could have cost us. Bus i dont think a push warrants a fine. Yeah, its unsportsmanlike. Yeah, its unnecesarry. But is the man he pushed dead, dying, or hurt? No. He isn't.

I didn't see what happened to Suggs right before the "alleged" incident. Let me remind you that sometimes the refs are out of position to make the call.

If you were talking about the 2007 game, it was Bart Scott I think, not Terrel Suggs.

Like my friend, a Sicilian lawyer would say, "Se entrambi erano colpevoli, quindi nessuno è colpevole." For the rest of you it means, "If both were guilty, then no one was guilty."

That's the game. My bad, that does make more sense.

Suggs SHOULD be fined. Rules are rules they apply to every one.

If some one punched Suggs in the face (not that I would recommend that)we all would want that player fined.

No question. I wonder if Simpson said something to him. Obviously it appears that he's just trying to give his helmet back, but that O-Lineman more deserved the blow. Oh well.

He probably should be fined, but I doubt that simpson was trying to help him out. He most likely said something as he was handing Sizzle his helmet.

It definitely should have been a flag, but a fine? Seriously? People are fined for things like helmet to helmets hits, that could put a player in danger. They go through a lot as NFL football players, I think they can handle a punch to their face.

I do feel bad for Simpson, though, since he was trying to be nice. It was probably a misunderstanding, Suggs probably didn't know it wasn't Simpson who ripped his helmet off. Either that or Simpson was rude about handing him his helmet in some way.

Why even start this thread? Oh..its a pittsburg fan..and his asking whether suggs should be fined lol.
I'll go to the Pitt website, bring up some play that Harrison did and ask if he should be fined and then enjoy the high brow conversation.

What is the over/under on the number of insults I'll receive ??
