It's funny how everyone checks everyone else's message boards when they are about to face each other.

They seem split, some think the Chiefs are world beaters and the Ravens have no shot while others wish they got to play the Jets instead.

I do think the Chiefs pose a threat if we don't shut down their running game. They also think our secondary is our weakness which may be true but they are really playing better especially with Wilson stepping his game up. I think Webb needs to start playing better and Reed is lights out. They don't have much of a passing game other than Dwayne Bowe. They seem to think Matt Cassell is some great QB...he's okay but he's not even on Joe's level.

How is he not on Joe's level? I just don't know why people say stuff like that....he has a better QB rating, more TD passes, and less interceptions.

I think they really mirror each other if anything. Would say they are on the same level. Consider them "Game Managers". Not elite but will get the job done in most occasions.

Lol, yeah I was about to say he's definitely not miles behind Joe, if behind him at all.

Okay, there numbers are close. He sat on the bench learning for 3 years, he is in his 6th year. He has the #1 running attack in the league, he is definitely more of a game manager. Last year they were talking about releasing this guy because he underperformed, at the beginning on this year when he was throwing for 63 yards they were talking of benching him.

I guess you can say their stats this year are similar but in my eyes they aren't..as QBs. Joe is ahead of Cassel...if Joe sat learning for 3 years I'm sure he would be way ahead of where this guy is...but that's just be making assumptions. I didn't mean to make you upset, it's my opinion.

Not upset, But if I had to compare Joe with any other QB right now Cassel's name would probably be brought up along with a guy like Jason Campbell.

Cassel did ride the bench thats true, however, he really didn't start a game in college either...So that kinda says something too.

Also, Cassel has never played or won a playoff game and Joe has....this is not why I started this topic...

Good for Cassel he had a good year...

Really? You wouldn't compare Joe to everyone's love child Matt Ryan? Now those two have identical numbers practically....Matt gets the love and Joe gets nothing..

Jason Campbell? lol..come on man, he's a cast off who had a few good games in Oakland this year.....Joe is handcuffed by this offense, it's not his fault they wont let him use that arm and all the weapons around him.

Again, He had the same record as we did in 2008. Sometimes you dont get in. If anything he had a bad 2009 and has 2 solid seasons under his belt.

It is what it is. We have Flacco, they have Cassel. I think Flacco will win but thats because I think our defense will play better than their defense.

Yeah and in 2008 he took over for Tom Brady on a team that was loaded with talent..hell, Jamarcus Russell could have had success with all those weapons.

....a little exaggeration

Similar player styles. Campbell has a great arm but prefers to throw it short, same with Cassel and Flacco.

I'll have to go over to the Chiefs site and see whats up there.

I always think every game that the Ravens will blow out the other team because I'm a die hard fan since they drafted Ray Lewis. But also I have a bad habit of being a realist and know that any team that makes it to the playoffs has the potential to beat us. I just hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Go Ravens Superbowl bound!!!

I think the Chiefs have as much chance as anyone. I also think a lot of people may be underestimating them.

If the Ravens play like they did today on offense, they will certainly be a one & done team in the playoffs. 5 turnovers and only 13 points to show for it? Stagnant, lack luster, depressing, and just horrible. 1 first down in the second half? Are you kidding me?

Also going into Arrow Head is definitely never an easy place for opponents to play.

I'm at a toss up for this game and currently I'm not looking further than Kansas City.

And you just said exactly two reasons why KC is better on offense than we are! Better oh ooppsss "#1 running attack" which where is ours at this year? Dont worry I'll wait!! And "more definitely a game manager". Why even bring up points about why he/their offense is better, to come back with a cop out of him sitting on the bench? That's irrelevant man, come on now.

1 more thing about Cassel being on Flacco's level....Cassel played inferior competition. This is the Chiefs schedule this year...

vs San Diego - Result - W 21 - 14 (Chargers are good team I guess...overrated)
@ Cleveland - Result - W 16 - 14 (Brownies)
vs San Francisco - Result - W 31 - 10 (The 49'ers are a joke)
@ Indianapolis - Result - L 9 - 19 (Their 1st tough challenge, and they lost)
@ Houston - Result - L 31 - 35 (Overrated Texans, no defense in this game, they lost)
vs Jacksonville - Result - W 42 - 20 (Jaguars are average at best)
vs Buffalo - Result - W 13 - 10 (Buffalo? haha, they got hot at times but come on)
@ Oakland - Result - L 20 - 23 (Raiders? See Buffalo..and they lost to them)
@ Denver - Result - L 29 - 49 (Broncos? suck)
vs Arizona - Result - W 31 - 13 (Arizona? That's a solid win!!! Oh wait they suck too)
@ Seattle - Result - W 42 - 24 (Seattle!!! Made the playoffs! ....at 7-9 what the heck...)
vs Denver - Result - W 10 - 6 (Broncos!!! Hey, at least they won this one!)
@ San Diego - Result - L 0 - 31 (Chargers finally did their thing and woke up but too late)
@ St. Louis - Result - W 27 - 13 (The Rams? Got a QB but not nearly a good enough team yet)
vs Tennessee - Result - W 34 - 14 (Titans? They were good early but really fell apart late)
vs Oakland - Result - L 10 - 31 (Really? They lost to the Raiders twice? damn....)

Ummm...The only team they have a win against with a winning record is the Chargers unless I looked at the stats wrong. Most of those teams are inferior competition to what the Ravens and Joe Flacco faced and especially the AFC North compared to the AFC West.

...i had a brain fart for a second there and said chiefs playedd in NFC lol...damn im losing it

What are you talking about? I never said anything bad about their offense, I said they have the #1 rushing attack so if we take that away their only weapon is Dwayne Bowe basically.....learn to read and quite acting like its that time of the month for you.

KC passing offense is 30th, rushing 1st, Bal passing is 20th, rushing 14th..

KC passing d is 17th, rushing d 14th, Bal passing d id 21st, rushing d 5th

Yea he started behind Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart, who he is smoking, performance wise, by the way. Look I am a Chiefs fan and I do live in MD. The Ravens have been my playoff team since I moved here. But I wouldn't discredit what Cassel has done this season, he is only second to Brady in TD: INT ratio. All who want to credit Cassel's performance to our #1 rushing attack have not truly watch a game of ours. For weeks now we have had 8 to 9 in the box to try to stop our team, because of the misconception you have currently, that Cassel can't pass. Well that is around the time that Cassel's numbers blew up.

I am not asking for fear but respect for what my team has accomplished this year. We have fought our tails off and dug ourselves out of the gutter of the AFC West. You will see that after the game on Sunday in Arrowhead, that this was not the team you imagined yourselves going against. I look forward to seeing my team go against the challenge that your team, who has performed consistently, go against my team, who is in desperate need of playoff experience. Good luck and know that if you knock my Chiefs off, I am pulling for you guys to get the ring that has been robbed from you the past 2 years. Go Chiefs!!! (Sorry gotta say it)

I agree with everything you have said in this thread(including the cassell verse flacco comparison). Congrats to the success that Cassell has been experiencing and to the Chiefs in general but I would hands down take Flacco over cassell as my QB of the present and the future. Anyways thats not the topic so I will let that one be.

Yea they are definitely a threat hell every team is in the playoffs, they earned there right to be here and bet they show up in the game. That said I think we pull this one out(hopefully bigtime) but I doubt it will be a blowout or anything. When it comes to our flaws we definetely have some but all the teams in the NFL have flaws so I am sure we will get it straightened out and play some tough Raven football here in the playoffs.

Cassel has looked pretty decent to me this year, you guys had a nice draft and your young players contributed instantly. Thats a sweet deal, it's going to be a tall task getting a win in Arrowhead. I do think the Ravens are up to the Challenge. I'd be lieing to you and myself If I didn't say I'd much rather play the Chiefs then the Colts, thats not to be taken as disrespect to KC but more of a respect for the Colts ( and them beating us... TOO MUCH!)

2 different mentalitys , the Chiefs either bend and break on D or collapse . thier offense has do a majority of the work on the ground , cassel is good when Run First is the style but is horrendouse when run first is not available

I don't understand the fear of the Chiefs. We are a better team, period. Does that mean we will win? Not necessarily. But the fact that a team that depends on the run scares you guys is baffling to me. We played a harder schedule and have a better record. I'm just worried that this Chiefs will be playing with nothing to lose because they're just happy to be in the dance and potentially knock some of our key contributors out for the divisional round.

This team dug itself out of the gutter of the AFC West? The West IS the gutter of the AFC. Come on now.

In the end they are still a playoff team and deserve a level of respect. Especially if you have watched some of their games and have seen what they've done in different aspects of the game.

If I had to a choose a team I would want to play first in the AFC, it would be the Chiefs. Mostly because of the lack of playoff experience. But that doesn't mean they can't be feared. They are a tough team.

The part I highlighted is contradictory. When someone says that the running game significantly boosts Cassel's performance they mean that the running game FORCES teams to play 8-9 in the box, opening up a lot of receivers for Cassel. In other words, Cassel wouldn't be nearly as effective without a strong rushing attack to force opponents into playing heavy run-D instead of focusing on the pass. I think we can both agree on that, not trying to criticize Cassel. Just like Flacco, Cassel is still more of a game manager at this point. I think Flacco has the edge because he has more receivers (Boldin, Mason, Housh, Heap, Rice). Flacco also didn't have nearly as much help from the running game this year. Flacco also faced Pitt twice, Cinci (who always gives us trouble) twice, Atlanta, New Orleans, the Jets, all of which have good pass defenses. Cassel didn't face nearly as much resistance.

As for the game itself, you'd have to be crazy not to give the edge to the Ravens. But no one should count out the Chiefs, not for a second. They are an extremely dangerous team and we will need GREAT play, not mediocre like the past couple games, to defeat them.
