Cundiff can't break the record beyond today's tying mark; the record of 40 only applies to the regular season, as Mitch Berger played for the 15-1 Vikings in 1998 that went on to lose in the NFC Championship game against the Falcons. Berger would go on to record 7 more touchbacks in the postseason, marking 47 for the entire year.

I'm sure there might be others who have come close to the record that could've broken it as well if the postseason counted.

They announced this today at the stadium and he received a king's applaud. It was also a nice touch with the the probowlers being announced during the team introductions.
