Ravens Projected 2011 Opponents

42 posts in this topic

The Ravens' projected 2011 opponents have been named based on the league's scheduling formula, assuming there is a collective bargaining agreement in place for next season. (LINK)

As usual, the Ravens will play six games against the AFC North, in addition to facing the AFC South, the NFC West, and the second-place teams in the AFC East and AFC West.

HOME
Pittsburgh Steelers
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Indianapolis Colts
Houston Texans
San Francisco 49ers
Arizona Cardinals
New York Jets

AWAY
Pittsburgh Steelers
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee Titans
St. Louis Rams
Seattle Seahawks
San Diego Chargers

This will mark the second straight season that the Ravens and Jets will play, as well as Rex Ryan's first significant return to Baltimore since leaving for the Jets, barring a playoff meeting in this coming postseason. If the Ravens meet the Colts in the playoffs this year, next season will mark the 8th consecutive year that the two teams will play in a meaningful capacity. Additionally, only four of the teams on the schedule are 2010 playoff teams, three of them in the AFC.

NFC West = 4 wins right there LOL... I kid.

This is a very favorable schedule. We finally get our really tough games at Home for a change.

Not too bad at all. Though it should be noted that our NFC West Home/Away games may be changed due to some odd thing with teams having to play the AFC West.

http://www.baltimoreravens.com/Gameday/Future_Opponents.aspx
*The NFL recently announced that in future years, when teams play the entire AFC West division, they will travel to either Kansas City and San Diego OR to Oakland and Denver, and when playing the entire NFC West division, they will travel to San Francisco and Arizona OR to Seattle and St. Louis. The actual home and away opponents have not yet been announced, so, while the Ravens' 2011 NFC West opponents will remain the same, the location of the games are subject to change. 2011 matchups against NFC West teams that are not confirmed appear in italics.
So just to make sure, that means that we could end up getting Rams/Seahawks at M & T Bank instead of on the road and our original home games with San Fran/Arizona would become road games correct?

As far as we know, it won't be changed. The road trips to St. Louis and Seattle will remain on the schedule. The idea is NOT to force teams to travel all the way to the west coast in Seattle and San Francisco in the same year.

As for a possible trip to London, which the Ravens are rumored to be contenders for in 2011, we'll see. I'd rather not do it for fatigue reasons whether or not it'd be a lost home game, but that's just me.

We can make Schedule Requests right.... I have a suggestion...can we ask the league to play the Chargers in September-October?

Yep, and that request might be in our favor if the Orioles play a lot of home games during those months. The league accounts for these conflicts.

Orioles September Home Schedule(Sundays & Mondays):

Sunday Sept 11th: @ Toronto finishing a 3 game series. Projected NFL Kickoff 2011.

Monday September 12th: Home vs Rays.

Sept 18th: Home vs Angels, finishing a 3 game series.

Monday Sept 19th: @ Red Sox.

Sunday Sept 25th: @ Detroit finishing a series with the Tigers.

Monday Sept 26th: Home vs Red Sox.

Didn't see anything for October so I guess the Baseball season ends in September.

Remember that there is always a surprise team in the NFL every year.

I got to see how the offseason plays out before I make a judgment. So many questions for this team going on. So many key players that could be leaving.

That schedule is partly wrong, we are going to Arizona.

The schedule is:
HOME: Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Houston, Seattle, San Francisco and N.Y. Jets

AWAY: Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Tennessee, St. Louis, Arizona and San Diego

Of course as long as there is a next year, and if there is a 16 game schedule.

I don't care so much about who we play, because to me it's more about when we play them that matters. i.e. Injuries and all that.... Go Ravens!!!

No because the league stopped giving the 49ers and Seahawks and the Cardinals and Rams the same home and away opponents. Instead, they switched it to the Rams and Seahawks and the Cards and 49ers getting them. They did it in the AFC West too. Now, instead of Broncos/Chiefs and Raiders/Chargers, it's Broncos/Raiders and Chargers/Chiefs.

They did this because they didn't want to have non western teams making two west coast trips in one season.

In 08, the AFC East played the AFC West and NFC West. The Pats and Jets each had to make trips to Oakland, SD, SF and Seattle. That's four west coast trips right there. I think that was the deciding factor because now, only two seasons later, they made the switch.

So there is the potential that... two of the now most hated former Ravens will be coming back to Baltimore.

1. Troy Smith
2. Rex Ryan

I suppose you could even throw Bart Scott in there...

Should be a great time! hahaha

I don't know why you think that Troy Smith is a most hated. There is not love lost there. What most of us hate is the justification that Troy should've been our starting QB.

Hopefully he'll start that game, throw 3 INTs, and maybe, just maybe, that "debate" will finally die.

I saw a report that Smith won't remain as a 49er. He'll have to find a new home. Maybe Cleveland, Arizona?

Will if you want to take every word as its literal meaning... have a blast.

Whatever word you wish to use, you know that most people here want to see him do badly. And this is evidenced by the post above stating that they hope he starts, throws 3 picks, and the "debate" dies.

So okay, maybe nobody literally "hates" him... maybe nobody literally "hates" Rex either. But that has pretty much been the talk of the town since Rex left and talked trash before this seasons opener, and about Troy since... we drafted Flacco and everyone went wacko.

I think he's got teammates with faith in him, namely... Ted Ginn and Vernon Davis. Crabtree doesn't work hard no matter who throws to him. Alex Smith doesn't sound like he's willing to re-sign with SanFran so they might keep Troy to compete for the starting job come training camp. I doubt they want to go into the season with just a rookie QB... especially behind that horrible offensive line. Considering how many teams who draft before them are speculated to draft a QB, the 49ers might actually do the smart thing and help their o-line or defense out.

But if the 49ers don't sign Troy back... he'll definitely find some place to serve as a back-up. Just look at Curtis Painter! Cleveland has their future starter in Colt McCoy. Arizona is probably going to go for a veteran QB to make Fitzgerald feel better. They have to make their best player happy, so I'm sure Fitz will have PLENTY of say in who they go after for QB. For all I know... they actually like John Skeleton and want to keep him.

No that is one person not wishing him well. You have zero evidence to say "most people here want to see him do badly".

The dislike Rex has earned from some people here is well-deserved.

With Troy, what I've observed are people arguing with those who believe the team "did wrong" by Troy or didn't give him a "fair shot" or made a mistake in letting him go. I don't think many people have a problem with Troy personally. I's his supporters that make outlandish statements.

Well but look at the Browns. They play at Oakland next year, along with at San Fran and Arizona. If they were to play at San Fran and Seattle, which they were originally scheduled to do, that's three west coast trips right there. The league looks at west COAST as being different from just the west.

I like our chances against the NFC West next year. Of course, the divisional games will be tough. Let's see if we can finally knock off the Colts in the regular season.

Looking at that schedule I see 2 Guaranteed Prime time games with the Steelers/Jets and the only other two games that could be Prime time games are the Colts and Chargers.

I'd like to step in here and say that I have rooted for Troy every single time he's touched the ball, as a Raven or a 49er. He's always been a class act from the very start.
