i think our defense also matches up well against their offense so could be a low scoring battle.

If I were KC this is how I would gameplan for us. Pound the rock early with Thomas Jones. Our defense will get tired fast especially since KC's D matches up well with our O and there should be a lot of 3 and outs by us.

Then in the 2nd half. Screen passes and pitches to Charles. With our defense's tackling issues and the fact that they will be tired, Charles could punish us in the second half with his speed.

Pretty much KC, just stick to what you've been doing all year long. Don't get cute.

Exactly, and defensively they just need to blitz, blitz, and then blitz again. We can't handle it on the O-line and Cameron doesn't have any "blitz beaters" in his playbook; even if he did, I don't think Joe could execute them consistently.

Yep, and when they have guys like Brandon Flowers and Berry roaming down field. Flacco will continue to look off and get pressured. I'm not expecting much from our offense this game. I'm hoping for a squeaker where we can pull one out through some aspect of the game (perhaps defense).

Just would like to say..

Kanas City has beaten these teams:

San Diego (OK, but they started out flat)
Cleveland
San Francisco
Jacksonville
Buffalo
Arizona
Seattle
Denver
St Louis
and
Tennessee

They got blown out by Denver and San Diego, and also got swept by Oakland.

They've only beaten one team with a winning record.

Just saying

San Diego - Not Impressive. TCU could beat San Diego in Sept/Oct.
Cleveland - Not Impressive
San Francisco - Not Impressive
Jacksonville - Not Impressive
Buffalo - Not Impressive
Arizona - Not Impressive
Seattle -Not Impressive
Denver - Not Impressive
St Louis - Not Impressive
and
Tennessee - Not Impressive
So I don't see any impressive wins under their belts. But they are much like us the last three years. You beat the teams you are suppose to beat.

They wont beat us using Jones the entire first half, hes less explosive than the HBs in our own division, and breaks less tackles than them as well. That would be a half wasted, Jones is the type of HBs we usually shut down, not a scat back and not a huge power runner that give our LBs problems in the hole. Jones is an accomplished runner, but he's less explosive than Mendenhall and we seem to do well against Mendenhall. If the Chiefs want to win they start Charles all game long and leave him in.

I didn't really think that Jones would be the one that did the beating. I have no doubt we'll shut him down. But he would soften up the defense for Charles in the second half. You run Jones to speed up the tiring process, pass to an open Bowe, repeat.

Chiefs just need to stick around the first half. Because they'll make the adjustments (i.e. get Charles in the open field) while we'll fold and try to kill the clock in the 3rd Qtr.

I just read on Peter King's MMQB article that our last two trips to Indy have resulted in 2 losses at a combined score of 51-6... that's pretty pathetic.

Arrowhead won't be easy, but it's a whole lot better than Lucas Oil Stadium.

never look past anybody in the NFL.

This is no cake walk. Everything we know about the regular season is over.

Look at who we lost too:

Cinci- what can I say the silly roughing the passer penalty mid way through the fourth where we went from 3-23 to 1-10 on our side of the field which led to a touchdown didn't help much. We never play them well. Be glad when Marvin moves on.
New England - 3 points is a game that could go either way.
Atlanta - we all know how that ended with a cheap throw down by the Roddy White that the refs missed
Pittsburgh - always a hit or miss with these guys.

We are a pretty consistent team when you think about it. My only real concern is we don't quite have that quality win on the road this year. For us to make it to the Super Bowl we are going to need 3!

Keep hope alive I am going to think positive while I am rooting them on from the stands. I already booked my trip to KC. Anybody else going?

I wish I could afford to go, but I'll just enjoy it in front of a big screen :)

The only time the Ravens Defense has faltered is when the O.C. and offense left them on the field too long.

The Ravens have a good defense (not great) but is sufficient to help get the win.

The Ravens Offense has the skilled players to win the game if they are used properly.

It is not a good sign to go into the playoffs the way the Ravens did against CinCin.

I think the ravens can win the SB if the O.C. gets it together.

Bowe and Charles are the focal points of their offense, double Bowe and shut down Charles, easier said than done. For the most part I would like to see Mattison stack the box on 1st and 2nd down and in 3rd bracket Bowe. None of our CB's matchup well with Bowe because he is fairly physical. We need to dominate them in the trenches, make it our kind of game, real physical.

I'm really just scared of Jamaal Charles. Remember a few years back when we had to face Chris Johnson? He was destroying us. If it wasn't for that injury I feel that they would've won. He runs just like CJ and we need to stop him in order to have a shot.

I don't know if we can. Simpson went nuts on us, 12 catches for 123. You would've thought we'd do something to stop the only thing they had going. Bowe is a possession guy much like Roddy White sort of. When we are playing off these guys at the line of scrimmage, they are making us pay.

Bowe could end up with a very nice game. We can't play soft back there. Play tough and tight from the get-go. Leave the deep ball as a weakness.

Just look at what the Ravens offense has done against Cincy in the past 4 meetings, nothing at all. So yesterday was pretty much par for the course. For some reason, Cincy's defense just has our number.

let's get serious - NOTHING is a given in the NFL
the Chiefs got humiliated Sunday and I am sure they will be ready for us.
We just have to have a better team show up than they did yesterday.
Carson Palmer has looked bad all year, and yesterday he looked like an AllPro. I love Joe, but he holds onto the ball too long. I saw the other threads - is it really possible that nobody can get clear? On every down?
We better be ready, emotionally, heads in the game, and focus on what it will take to win and go far in this part of the season.
That will make the difference.

Go :baltimore-ravens:

To be fair, he played his best game of the season against the Chargers two weeks ago.

As usual, I was listening to Jarrett Johnson on 98Rock this morning to get some insight into how the players felt about the Ravens lackluster performance yesterday. He was convinced that many of them are banged up and needed to rest up for Sunday's game. I'm just glad that we didn't have to play on Saturday, because we haven't responded well to short weeks during the regular season. One thing I like about Johnson is his humility. He never comments on how others play unless he has something nice to say about them. He also said that he didn't care who the opponents were because we had to play them hard to win. I'm sure that Ray has convinced him that they are going to go all the way!

To be honest, after watching the Raiders DL expose the Chiefs OL, I think Bowe won't have a very good game at all. He has a tendency to disappear when he doesn't get enough balls thrown his way, and if we pressure Cassel enough, which I think we certainly can, he will have to dump it off to Charles or throw it out of bounds. Now, we have to ensure that if (when) Charles gets the ball he is contained and doesn't break off big runs. Last time we played this rushing attack we held them to I think 30 yards combined between Larry Johnson and Charles. We will need that kind of effort against TJ and Charles as well.

Offensively, we have to just ground and pound all day, use the PA pass. Pretty much trademark Ravens offense. Although I hope Flacco can do to this secondary what he did last year, torching them for 3 TDs

I don't ever understand why we wouldn't double a guy like this, when it's plainly obvious for all to see that he will make some plays against any one of our CBs. I think we'd see much more success should we double him to take him out of the game. No disrespect intended, but I don't think they have any other receiving threats in the league of Bowe, making it even more attractive to me to take him out of the game.

I hope no one minds that I pop back in here so often but I do wish you the best of luck in your chiefs game. I don't have anything against the chiefs but, as you may have noticed, I sort of like you guys.

It won't make much of a difference, but is Charlie Weis still coaching in this game even though he took the Florida job? I figure it would be somewhat of an advantage if they had to find someone else on the staff to call plays for the first time.

That is an interesting point. I bet KC's management is pissed about this who Florida/Weis thing. I'm sure he'll be coaching (but you have to wonder at what magnitude?).

Especially with the apparent rocky relationship between him and Haley. It'll definitely be interesting.
