Wild Card Weekend: Ravens @ Chiefs

382 posts in this topic

Its funny, even though we actually won, both of these teams has just about as much momentum at this point...N-O-N-E.

We both stunk it up in our respective games, the Ravens just happened to have a few more balls bounce their way.

Rest up Wilson, we'll need you.

Dorthy we are going to Kansas and coming home with a victory.
I think going to Kansas would be a lot easier then the Colts. Chiefs are an inexperience playoff team. They may lose composure, we have 3 years of no absence and have the edge when it comes to playoff psychology..

Kind of think we already did that hoss, he won't shutup even when he loses. I like having confidence in your team but we will see how they do in the playoffs.

i wasn't talking about us (Ravens) hoss! in general! and....Rex did shut up when the Patriots blasted the Jets. as a matter of fact, that cat looked like he was ready to cry at his presser. lol!

They aren't pushovers but we can beat them. If the offense steps up and plays the way we know they can and the D and Special Teams keep up what they're doing then we should be fine. But you know our boys like to keep us at the edge of our seats. I don't really know what to expect but it's probably gonna be a good game. By the way, if we do happen to lose I will be disappointed but at the same time I won't be to upset losing to KC compared to losing to anyone else in the playoffs.

The Chiefs are a good football team and if you can't stop their run game it will be a long day. I actually wanted to go to Indy and face Manning especially with how banged up they are. We are more familiar with them too.

Lets hope the offense gets its act together, they just looked like they didn't care out there today once they saw the Steelers raping the Browns.....which is to be expected, i guess.

Yea I guess he kind of stopped after that but hes stil talking now and like i said its all good to have that kind of confidence in your team but I will take mine over his anyday. Kind of hard deciphering who you were talking about sorry for the assumption that it was about us, hoss.

So I guess if Eric Berry is the next Ed Reed... that means he'll be learning from the Real Ed Reed on how to be a ball hawk.

KC Chiefs fan here......congrats to the Ravens and hello to you for this year's playoffs....should be a good game....stats call this a pretty close game...we'll have a hard time rushing against your "D" probably....our "D" has improved, but is still erratic......if D.Johnson/LB is having a good day, our "D" is having a good day and things will open up for Tamba Hali.....then our DB's get into the act....If Cassel can't pass and protect the ball, Ravens probably win....good luck

Good Luck to you too. Let the best team win. I dunno bout you but if you guys win, I'll be cheering for the Chiefs the rest of the playoffs since I Loathe the Pats, Steelers, Jets and Colts lol

I like how Todd Haley turned that program around. It really does help when you have a gem like Jamaal Charles

I'm happy for KC, glad to see them turn it around so fast.Great offensive core with Cassel, Charles and Bowe, and good young playmakers on defense.

We can beat the Chiefs, they have major consistency problems. If we play like we are capable of we could put it away early.
We need to stop the run: Jamal Charles averages 6.4 yd's per carry, very scary.
We need to fluster Matt Cassel, their offensive line, I believe, isn't the best.

I for one, believe the Chiefs are a more high powered version of the Texans. They have a strong run with scary playmaker wideouts, but tie it together with a better defense than the Texans. If we play like we did in the first quarter of the Texans game then we'll win, no doubt.

Jamal Charles, McCluster, Jones, Bowe, Cassel. They scare me a bit more than an injured Colts team. Especially that 7-1 record at home. Raiders are not a bad team so don't minimize the loss they suffered today.

Unfortunately we have major consistency problems. Shoot almost every team does this year minus the Patriots.

I am worried about their defense the most. Their offense is very explosive but our D will show up. I'm more worried about Cam Cam and his crew against that pass rush. Tamba is a beast and will eat Oher alive...

Jamaal Charles is the most dangerous weapon on that roster, and maybe the most dangerous weapon on anyone's roster. With his insane YPC average, he is certainly the most dangerous RB in the league this year. Thomas Jones gives them good power at the goal line to drive the ball in after Charles gets them down there. The key will be to contain Charles by closing up those lanes on the inside. Force him to cutback and lose his speed, then corral him.

Through the air, Dwayne Bowe is easily their top threat. He is a big strong target with good speed and very solid hands. He is a huge threat down in the red zone as he can physically compete with even the toughest corners in jump ball situations.

However, I think that the bottom line is that the Ravens can win this game, and they can do so simply by playing disciplined football and moving the ball efficiently. Discipline is how you stop a running offense, and moving the ball efficiently and constantly (meaning three and outs) will help wear out their defense for later in the game.

Id much rather play them ,then the Colts but either way i wouldnt have cared because i really do think we could beat the Colts this yr. (Mind you if Cam gets his head out of his butt).

But i just looked at K.C s schedule for the yr and they didnt really play anyone worthy and won. The good teams they did play ,they got their butt handed to them.

Just go google their schedule and you will agree. Although i have heard Arrow Head is pretty tough to play at. But the way are Defense has been playing ,im very confident. I dont want to hear anymore talk about our secondary, as long as Wilson is back their next week ,we will be all good.(Our CB are really coming into their own, even though Webb got beat a few times)

My one complaint is im sick of hearing we need to run the ball more, screw that if your going to run it than do a pitch ,screen or check down to Rice. We should have won by 30 plus points.

And another thing that im P.O ed about is not atleast getting another field goal so our boy Cundiff could have broke the NFL Record for touchbacks. That was very dissapointing and im sure everyone would agree. I think i would have rather lost that game and have Cundiff break the Record. (Well Maybe lolol)

Im sooooo proud of our DEFENSE ,its not even funny.

Can we please protect Flacco a little bit more so he has time to throw to one of our many Talented recieving core please, thats all i ask. Oh nevermind another thing (for next year)i want is a New O.C , cough, Josh Mcdaniels cough please. I hear alot of teams want him for next yr. I hope the Ravens office is one of them.

I think that this is an easier opponent than the Colts but we can't sleep on them. We have to open the offense up and move the ball and we have to provide some kind of pass rush and make Cassel move out of the pocket so he makes mistakes. We can't let him stand there and pick us apart like Brady, Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan, and Drew Brees do. If our offense is not doing a better job moving the ball and getting 1st downs then our defense will ALWAYS be on the field and they will be tired by halftime. Then it will be easy for Cassel to shred the defense apart. They said that the Ravens defense was on the field for 78 plays compared to 40 plays for the Cincinnati defense.

No offense but Cassel is not on the same level with those QBs you mention. They have one talented WR so even minimal pressure with good coverage taking him out of the mix should get the job done on the passing game. Shut down their running game and the Chiefs have little else IMO. I think Oakland proved that. There are the typical Flacco haters that say Cassel is on par with Joe because the numbers are close but KC has faced only one defense in the Top 10 all season. I don't think we need to get complicated in this game. Against this team we can play old-style Raven football and win handily. Shut down their running game, get in Cassel's face and control the clock (btw that means first downs, not necessarily running the ball for every down).

I think the Cheifs are a good team, actually when I heard last year that Romeo Crennell was hired as their DC, that they would most definitely play a lot tougher on defense and probably win a few more games. I never expected them to come out as the AFC West Champs though. Nonetheless, I think the Ravens are most definitely the better football team, but they are going to have to just come out and punch them in the mouth. No matter how close the games were, the Ravens DID win 12 of 16 games with a pretty tough schedule to boot. We'll see how it all pans out but I'd expect the Ravens to be moving on to the Divisional Round.

BTW as much as I hate saying this, GO JETS..if both teams can win two games we would host them in the AFCC

don't know if it's allowed I haven't read the TOS. But the Ravens are 2.5 pt favorites vs KC.
Don't admit that in public. But you are allowed to post spreads. Surprised they have us as favorites. I would've thought they'd give the chiefs maybe a 3 point home favorite line.

Remember what Tamba did to us 2 years ago? Remember how he was thought to be only an AVG player and everyone was dissappointed that he got at Joe soo often? Well, turns out, he's a very good player. We need to keep him off of Flacco!

Tamba's better now than he was when we last met. You also have Dorsey who is starting to Roll. Brandon Flowers and Eric Berry will be jamming routes, Flacco will get moving out of the pocket and they will get pressure.

Their defense actually matches up quite well against our offense.

That is one positive, but then we have to face a red-hot Steelers team that is hitting its stride... not sure I want any part of that.

there defense is very talented hopefully we can get the running game going or we could be in trouble.

i think our defense also matches up well against their offense so could be a low scoring battle.
