The Raven

Don't Worry!

20 posts in this topic

I know today's game was ugly. One thing I noticed is that we let the foot off the pedal, and slowed down. We had little to play for. Towards the end of the first quarter, I noticed the Steelers were up 21-3. About that point, we gave up. We had nothing to play for.

We have a history of playing down to our opponents too. While this is something I'd like the team to improve, we have proven against the Patriots, and the Steelers that we can compete with the big dogs. We CAN beat them, we just seem to go easy on bad/average teams. I noticed that the Steelers and the Patriots both anhilated the Browns and the Dolphins respectively. We need to learn how to do that.

In summary, we play to our competition, meaning we play down to bad teams, and up to winning teams. We have to play up all the time. But really, I don't think there's alot to be worried about. Slight concern, yes, but not worry.

Don't you dare post positive stuff!!! lol sorry I couldnt resist that anyways i agree with you completely.

We WILL make a playoff run and beat some tough teams like we should. Anyway anyone wants to look at it we are 12-4 in the NFL which isnt easy at all. We could play better on both sides of the ball and coaches could step it up to but us as fans need to be there and stop complaining about everything. You cant be perfect in the NFL as long as you come out with the W thats all that matters.

Anyways been doing a bit of drinking so all that might not make to much sense but it was nice to see something positive around here :).

We are playing bad today, but I'm tired to dissect the game. It's good that it's a win in the end. Lets move on and win the next game. Mentally, I'm ready for our team to take on any team in the next match up.

PS: Our team seem to click all cylinders when in playoffs. What I worry is the penalty.

Exactly. And I forgot to mention we also beat the Superbowl champion Saints.

But our team is terrible, we almost lost to the Bungles. We have a horrid offense, and a pathetic defense
/sarcasm.
No, pardon my cliche, but we lack the KILLER INSTINCT

I look at it like this, get the bad game out the way. Hopefully our offense is so embarrassed and pisssed off by today's performance they come out next week and roll.

nothing bothered me about today's game whatsoever. it's the Bengals. did anyone expect us to dominate them? I hope not.
[/quote]

how could this game be the Bengals when they turned the ball over 5x?

I'm not sure what you're getting at there.

either way, our offense seems to have problems vs. Cincy always so I'm really not surprised at the outcome of this game. point is we won and we're playing the Chiefs and we finished 12-4.

I wish Cundiff would have had one more touchback. bah.

I respect the Begals but the o-line getting dominated didn't bother you?

We turned it over a lot in the first one and it was still a game, welcome to the division its just the way it is here and probably always will be. Bengals are a tough team despite there record.

We are 12-4 and in the playoffs its a new season so lets see how it goes from here but my bet is most people around the forums will be pleasantly surprised with how good we do.

While I agree that we play up to the level of our competition, I totally disagree with letting up on the gas pedal just because the steelers were winning. If that game meant anything to us, then harbaugh would have pulled the starters. You play to win the game, PERIOD. We had 5 games won by 16+ last year. I was there when we beat the Lions 48-3 and it was a joke. THIS team, THIS year just doesnt play that kind of football anymore.

what i am getting at is that the Bengals turned the ball over 5x and the Ravens offense did absolutely nothing (scoring wise) with the opportunities that the defense gave them.

I'm concerned about our O line play.
I'm concerned about Cam's play calling.

Yet, I did not expect us to blow the Bengals away. Not because they are so much better than us but because they are a team that has had our number for awhile. I am pleased that we ended yet another streak though. Last season, we put an end to the Ravens have never beaten NE. Now we have ended the Bengals' streak of wins against us. Now if necessary, it is time to end the Big Ben nonsense and put the Indy demons to rest. We CAN do this if Cam gets out of the way.

I'm actually surprised we won today, I figured once the Ravens players saw how badly the Steelers were whooping up on the Browns they would pack it in.
