Jamie Dukes Says The Ravens Offense Doesn't Scare Him

17 posts in this topic

NFL Network's Jamie Dukes, when asked about being the #3 seed in the AFC and if you had your choice to face the Ravens or the Jets which would you choose? stated that; "when i look at Baltimore....that offense doesn't scare me! you saw what they did today!"

what is your take on this?

Well, SHOULD they scare him?

Actually, the answer is yes: If you look at this offense, they SHOULD scare EVERYBODY. ...but they don't, because-- Well, the popular scapegoat is Cam, and maybe it is him. I don't know. Could be we're not executing, or whatever, but we just aren't the offense we should be.

Jamie Dukes is your typical blowhard commentator in the same vein as Michael Irvin, Warren Sapp, Matt Millen, Joe Theismann, Steve Beurlein, etc. He talks loud and makes sweeping points but doesn't offer a whole lot of meaningful analysis. Therefore, I take all of his comments with a grain of salt.

Now, if someone more thoughtful like Marshall Faulk or Brian Billick said it, I'd be more inclined to listen.

Either way, I'm not panicked. I'm concerned about the offensive line, of course. But I've watched enough football to know that, long-term, this story is written every year where a team will struggle at the end of the regular season, only to improve in the postseason. Conversely, a team will play outstandingly at the end of the year, only to collapse and lose in an upset in the playoffs.

I usually disagree with everything he has to say, but you'd be hard pressed to disagree with him here.

I never really pay attention to Jamie Dukes because of his rediculous statements and complete lack of football knowledge.

The fact he played the game and knows so little about it dumbfounds me.

I can understand his way of thinking to an extent, but to say that when we're compared to the Jets offense?!

I take that as an insult that he holds Sanchez and the Jets offense in higher regard than our own. Sanchez has shown nothing special so far in his career.

Our offense only stalls when we try to run down the clock (aka the entire second half). Joe can carry the team if he needs to, but so far we always enter the 4th quarter with the lead.

It's really hard to watch the Ravens win. They seem to have a knack for going down to the wire. Still, we won! That's all that matters in the NFL. I think that everyone in Baltimore was satisfied a 12-4 season based upon the difficulty of the schedule. Go Ravens. Let's focus on the incredible plays that the defense has made in the past 2 weeks. No one picked the 2000 Ravens to go all the way but they did. The Chiefs will not stop us if we play up to our potential. Neither will the Steelers nor the Patriots. The NFL is very unpredictable so no one knows what will happens in the playoffs.
