Cary Williams....

13 posts in this topic

So Josh Wilson just goes out (presumably) with a concussion, now would be a perfect time to get Cary Williams some great game time experience.

Chris Carr is overrated playing the corner, he is a nickel. Not sure why Mattison & Co is so hesitant to get Cary Williams some time at D.

He and David Reed have been 2 of our best special teams guys throughout this year.

Yes they are great on special teams, but who knows about defense. I am surprised Washington didn't get more play time with the way Webb was playing. But as far as Williams goes I really haven't seen enough of him in game time to know how he would be, because he hasn't played. But we may find out next year

Agreed with your first sentence.

Fabian did get a lot of playing time. The Bengals spread the Ravens out so often, they had to keep at least three CBs on the field and Webb was routinely beat.

Really? Except for the one play, I really thought Webb had a fairly good game. Was I missing something?

He had good coverage for most of the game and made some nice tackles too but he whiffed badly trying to Benson on a run that went for a first down in addition to giving up Cincy's only TD and got beat deep late in the game too.

"Late in the game," again, though. I mean, if he's out there playing seventy snaps, I'm hesitant to blame him for it. It's still all about the offense not producing.

No, the offense didn't play well at all and again, put too much pressure on the defense but Webb's struggles were still a problem.

Fair enough. I'm just not willing to throw him under the bus or anything yet, but yeah, he's hardly a shutdown corner or anything.

Yes I know I did see Washington on the field more since probably the last time he started (Buffalo right?). But with Wilson down and Webb having an off day, I saw mostly Carr and Webb in on 2 CB sets. The way Webb was playing I would have preferred Carr and Washington, or maybe even Washington and Webb, and give Webb an easier opponent.

Webb was struggling but Fabian is really no better.

Didnt Webb cause one of the Reeds picks an also didnt he have some key plays. Like someone else said you play that many snaps and your bound to get beat sometimes. The offense has to help out the defense in the playoffs our else it will cost us.

I will agree I would like to see Cary got some playing time but if I recall he was in on a few plays as well.I hope Wilson is good for the playoffs cuz we will need him.

Washington played well but Carr has been the best Cb all year say what you want be hes been consistant.

Webb was beaten on several occasions throughout the game, to no fault other than his own. Same with Fabian. I was surprised to see the number of completions they surrendered in the last minute of both halves. Lardarius actually did a solid job of tackling, but overall, he struggled throughout the game. I was at the game, and the mood among the fans was quite similar.

No doubt we have all been disappointed by Fabian's play almost the entire season. And when Webb is on, he is on. Sunday though he was off. He almost completely cost the game for us on the Bengals first play of their final possession. I forget who the receiver was but he most likely could have ran into the end zone. Webb hardly had a hand on him. I am not saying Washington could have faired better n that play, but overall most likely. Palmer was attacking him constantly even though the offense was consistently spread out and he had numerous options. We know it takes a lot more for Harbaugh to pull a guy though. I guess if he had given up 3 touchdowns like Washington did against Buffalo, then maybe. But Webb's matchups on the field scared me, especially in the 4th qtr.
