New Fans

I don't want fans like that, esp if they used to be Eagles fans. Fake fans are an embarrassment.

That said, if Joe Flacco becomes the starter this season I am selling off my tickets for the year. Tickets are too expensive for them to be wasted on an overrated D-1AA wonder boy who was fortunate enough to be drafted high by a desperate team. I will get more satisfaction from rooting against the Redskins then I will watching the junior varsity QB have trouble with the center exchange.

Are you sure your a Ravens fan?

the whole concept of this team is not only to win (which is a main priority) but also bring in more and more people into the Raven Football world, the more fans we get, the better, doesnt matter if they are because of one particular player or not, fact of the matter is that we now have more Fans and more people supporting us than we might of had in January and Feb....and with more and more time with them being Raven Fans, hopefully they can maintain a constant level of "team" support...... meaning if Flacco doesnt get the starting job, they just wont up and leave...... we want more people supporting this team, the more people....the better it will be and the bigger fanbase our fanbase will become.

so we must remember to Retain a constant level of Togetherness as a team and asa fan base here. we are a fan base united and as such we must embrace any and ALL members both new and old alike.....all of which are created equal under one common identity.....All Raven Fans.

so we must remember to do all that and go that much further.

dont hate...embrace.

I welcome all new fans, regardless of past affiliation because: 1) The Eagles are in the NFC anyway 2) Delaware has no NFL team of their own and since their QB got drafted by Baltimore (which is very close) it just makes sense. They are not "fake" fans by any stretch...

Its true they are not fake fans. But they are not raven fans as well. Which makes it that much easier for them to say garbage about our team. Unless they join us that is. I just hope they dont come on to the forums and talk smack during the season.

careful mongoose, we don't need another heated debate that will end up with the moderator closing this thread.

to all the delaware fans, welcome, but i hope you'll still support the ravens even if Flacco is on the bench (I am seriously against him starting because he is a rookie. I'd rather play it safe, and I have faith in Troy Smith).

yes yes i agree, and like i said above......... we Welcome any and all Deleware Fans here and look forward to each and every one of them contributing to the ever growing list of "Raven Fans"....the more people we have, the better. doesnt matter what past teams they cheeredor rooted for, the fact that they want to join the Raven Faniatic craze and really live/ be in the mix of "Bleeding Purple". Remember All Fans and all things must start somewhere, and if people dont start at something (in this case being Raven Fans) then how will they ever start to be "Raven Fans"?......welcome aboard Delaware Fans and all others, weclome aboard, welcome indeed. Let me tell you all a little story. Once upon a time I knew a young lad who was (I'll say it) obsessed with the one and only Vince young. His obbsesion came from the fact that he was a die hard Texas fan (the Colege, that is). now a few years back he listened to all of the sports anayltsts and draft gurus and decided that Young was definelty getting drafted by Houston. He was so ready to go out and chear on the Texans and , more importantly, his beloved Vince Young. He painted his room, changed his screenname to something that had to do with the Texans and went out and bought all the Texans gear he could find here in Penn. Then along came draft day. The Houston Texans decided to pass over Young and select Mario Williams. Now did my freind feel upset that his new favorite team had decided not to draft his heroe? Was he crying himself to sleep? No. He simply threw out all of his Texans parephernalia and replaced it with that of the Titans. No biggie. I later asked him "if the Titans were to ever release Vince Young, what would you do?" His response was more or less, "Good bye Titans."

So there are two things we have learned from this

1. don't trust anyone but Mike Mayock when it comes to the draft

2. No matter how excited and die hard these new fans may seem, all they really are is a watered down version of bandwagon fans. Only they don't go were the wins are. They go where a certian player is.

Well about the Brandon Flowers thing. I'm sure he didn't think that he was the best in the draft when draft day came closer maybe earlier on. And when you really think about it, Mckelvin was only considered the best in the draft because he had that extra elemant in his return game. Also I think that Rodgers-Cromartie may have been overhyped becasue of his (second) last name. That leaves Talib number one and Flowers number two with Mike Jenkins somewhere in the mix. just my opinion.

Oh, and everyone thought Matt Ryan was the top QB in the draft. But don't worry, Mayock was one of the first people I heard speak of Flacco's greatness

If Flacco brings in 10,000 new fans to watch the ravens and Flacco never lives up to the hype, so most of them won't care about the ravens anymore, F it no big deal. If he does become a starter later in the season or even in a year or so and leads the Ravens to success, that will just be more time these ''floater'' fans or whatever you wanna call them, To get caught up in the nest and become full pleged ravenatics. Either way I'll still feel the same about the best team in the league. Go RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'll agree that the moreof us there are, the merrier. However, if the Flacco situation turns sour, the're gone. I just don't like being represented by fans who are , like I said, just like bandwagon hoppers. As far as I'm concerned, bandwagon hoppers are just people taking up seats from real fans. And that's not just pertaining to this situation. It's pertaining to all situations.
