Troy Smith Goes Red Bull Rage On Singletary

33 posts in this topic

Troy Smith got an opportunity to shine today, thanks Coach Singletary. Hold that thought.

Troy Smith was sitting on top of the bench after he threw a pic; coach was talking to him calmly about the pic and Troy was fire and brimstone in coach's face like someone was taking away his child in a custody battle.

As well many of his balls were batted down because of his diminutive size.

Good Decision Oz.

Wow I just watched the video. He was livid. Players shoving towels in his face. Singeletary telling him to calm down. But what a blantant INT by Smith.

That was Ted Ginn shoving a towel in Troy Smith's face, telling his childhood friend and college teammate to calm down.

If it wasn't already obvious, Singletary has probably lost that locker room and he certainly doesn't have a solution at QB on that roster.

I always have backed up Singletary in saying how he still has Alex Smith on the roster who was drafted by the old Head Coach and how he needs time to find his own QB, well it seems to me Singletary may not have time to find his own QB as he may be gone. It just amazes me how he looks like he would be a Good Head Coach but he just isn't doing well as a HC. If Singletary is still Head Coach, he better use that First Round Pick on a Franchise QB.

A lot of QBs have been in that situation before.

Singletary may be gone before the season ends.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/26/singletary-firing-could-come-this-week/
According to Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, 49ers owner Jed York would not commit to Singletary coaching next week against the Cardinals. York also said the 49ers will begin interviewing general manager candidates soon.
Well it seemed like a good thing for the 49ers when he Singletary was given the Had Coaching Job but now everything has gone wrong for him.

Now the Countdown begins.... Singletary for Defensive Coordinator Threads in 3... 2...1

You would be PERFECT for a job in the media. Completely spinning something to make your personal point.

I've seen Flacco and Boldin have bigger arguments than Troy Smith and Singletary had. Flacco and Housh also. You have no idea what was said. If you think about it... the 49ers were within 1 score and Singletary probably told Troy Smith that he's taking him our for Alex Smith. If I was Troy Smith... I would be upset at this too. You're in the game and coach is taking you out. What situation does this sound like? The Redskins and Eagles! Taking out their starting QB when the game is a 1 possession game. It's just another example of Singletary making a move to make it. You know... like the Ravens deciding to hardly run the ball at all today because.... the run worked too well last week. It just doesn't make sense.

Bottom line... the 49ers are a TERRIBLE team. You all give Flacco all the excuses in the world... "it's the blocking, it's the playcalling, it's the receivers."

But you completely fail to acknowledge that the 49ers have one of the worst offensive lines in the league, their defense can't stop anyone, and their kicker is HORRIBLE.

If you are impressed with what Flacco did today against the Browns... don't worry, I'm sure you'll see plenty more of that in the playoffs.

What's with this fascination with Troy Smith? Why? I don't understand the love for a mediocre player who had a good college career and nothing more -- just like thousands upon thousands of college players before him.

Did you even watch the game? Are you even a Ravens fan? Because we ran it plenty, and you don't give yourself much credibility when you make a silly statement like that (not that you had much to begin with).

I'm more impressed with what Flacco does regularly than what Troy does regularly. You're just so biased that it's not even worth arguing, you never give Flacco any room for error, but Troy gets every excuse in the book. Every objective observer knows that Flacco is better. Get over it.

He doesn't like Flacco...at this point his grasping for straws is just comical. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a relative of Troy's.

Troy is just an average QB and nothing changes that now. He's best to just fit as back up so at least he can handle the expectation bar rather than attaining a position of which he couldn't handle.

Besides, he has so many chances to shine in the NFL but he couldn't take full advantage of it. Not because he didn't treasure the opportunities, it's just his skill and talent are reached to the limit. He is who he is.

Being the first QB to make the playoffs three times in a row, including his rookie season, is pretty impressive.

Also, a 90.2 rating > than a 62.0... That's elementary.

Wish I could find a slow-mo of the video above. Looks like one of the D-Linemen may have got a piece of it, nothing to send it wobbling but just enough to get it off course. Maybe another angle...

Anyway...

I usually get a laugh out of your Flacco rants, because it's hard to take them seriously. Case in point: Rice ran the ball more than Flacco threw it today; it makes your claim that we abondoned the run kinda silly.

And just an FYI - no one makes excuses for Flacco. You know why? Here's why

I'm sorry, what's Troy Smith going to be doing come January 8th and 9th? Probably at home having another temper tantrum, because he certainly won't be in the Playoffs... like Joe will be.... for the third straight year.

Also, that pick Troy threw to Otogwe was laughable. Joe's thrown some picks, but not as pathetic as that one. Hell, I'm not sure I'd even call that an interception so much as a completed pass to the intended receiver, Otogwe. Smith going over to the sidelines and throwing a Grade A Hissy Fit and making himself look like a giant baby doesn't help him either. I'm glad this guy isn't in a Ravens jersey anymore.

I think, had Troy Smith handled some of his hardships better, he wouldn't be such an easy whipping boy. But because his skills at the pro level aren't proportionate to the college hype, and because his followers defend him so ardently, it's just too tempting to keep piling on.

We don't rag on John Beck. We don't rag on Todd Bouman or Drew Willy. We sarcastically rag on Kyle Boller because, despite his struggles, he handled everything with class and was always our mistake at QB. We rag on Derek Anderson because he was a pretender all along and his past success is overshadowed by some boneheaded performances along with boneheaded public comments.

Honestly, I give props to Troy for sticking up to Singletary like that.

HOWEVER, that's not as important as how he does on the field. Glad we don't have to worry about him anymore.

Ray Rice carries: 25
Mcgahee carries: 8
Flacco pass attempts: 19

Your arguments fail so hard I honestly can't take them seriously.

After watching it on NFL network, I could pick out Singletary saying "calm down" and Smith saying "Im trying to prove it." Using context clues, I can guess what was going on.

On the Flacco comment, all I can say is... too bad we will never see Troy Smith in the playoffs.
