Rex Ryan Allegations

24 posts in this topic

I'm not even sure whether this story should go in this section but I just wanted to post this article regarding some interesting allegations surrounding Rex and his wife.

With every passing drama, the organization looks smarter for not making him their head coach.

While judgment of Rex's "interests" aren't appropriate here, this entire episode is just the latest chapter in a long line of stories to come out of the Jets camp.

Though such incidents have no direct bearing on the product on the field, the cumulative effect of distractions can wear down on a team as they are forced to dodge questions that they don't want to answer. Furthermore, issues like this (not Rex's interest in particular) will leave players pointing fingers at the end of a bad season, wondering how much the negative attention could have contributed to lapses in concentration.

Think of how this reflects on the fans. If you were a Jets fan, would you want to support a team that is ridiculed by other fanbases for stupid things being brought to light and the infinite arrogance of the coach and players? Brian Billick's arrogance, at least, wasn't of the boisterous variety; rather, Billick was condescending in wearing his intelligence on his sleeve, and I loved him for it. Rex is just a blowhard that shoots from the mouth too often, and the media and fans are eating this up because he's made himself such a large target.

If this were Sean Payton or Tony Dungy, there'd be controversy but people wouldn't be as quick to judge and ridicule because of the public image they've created.

Well said as always Franny and I couldn't agree more. It makes you wonder how much longer the Jets will stay committed to Rex. The Jets are talented now and there are building blocks in place but some of their key players will have to be let go due to the cap, which would hurt their chances at making a legitimate run for a title in the coming seasons.

Wow, the fact that there is an article on ESPN about this is pathetic. Who cares what Rex and his wife are into in their personal lives, has nothing to do with football. As long as it's not illegal, it doesn't really need to be an ESPN headline.

Who the hell runs Deadspin.com? It's such a stupid website and the fact that some people even go on it is more embarrassing than those videos of Ryan's wife.

I hate Deadspin. They criticize the media for sensationalism, yet they're guiltier than ESPN of it. Deadspin is the reason why blogs aren't viewed as credible news sources.

I agree that Rex's personal life shouldn't matter, but the issue that the Jets have on their hands is a coach who constantly draws negative attention to himself and the team. This negative attention doesn't just come from the mainstream media's reporting, but the sensationalism of sites like Deadspin, who use tabloid-like tactics to draw in viewers. I can honestly say I can count on two hands the number of times I've visited the site, and I've never stayed long. It's like a cesspool of smarmy condescension and frat-boy immaturity (no offense to those involved in college Greek Life).

I don't think it hinders Ryan's ability to coach or the Jets' ability to play in the slightest but it is VERY embarrassing

I mean, really, that's just awkward. It kinda creeped me out and I wonder, if those videos weren't meant to be public, how did they end up so?

Allegedly, Rex Ryan's wife had posted the videos online years ago under a false handle to maintain anonymity. Just something to spice up their marriage, I guess. Deadspin posited that she took down the videos upon Rex's hire in New York because of the increased media scrutiny.

Have the Jets clinched a playoff spot yet, i forgot. If they didn't i hope they don't make the playoffs and the jets should fire him. The whole team will soon be a huge rex ryan. Like that guy tripping the dolphins player!

Word? That means someone had these videos on-hand for over a year, right? Even CREEPIER!

Anyways, this whole year has been ridiculous with these scandals. Ben Roethlisberger, Brandon Spikes, Brett Favre, Perrish Cox, and now Rex Ryan. Of course, on that scale, Ryan's is one of the more minor ones but, still, lots of crap.

I just find it weird/humorous, just another shot at my least favorite head coach.

Living in New York, I had read a paper that said there was this woman who "appeared to look like" Rex's wife. I didn't read much into it, but I guess sources have found it WAS his wife after all? Well I guess now the video should remain private as it is taken off the internet. Too bad, because today's newspaper had a big picture of her feet on the cover. Oops!

If you read the Deadspin report you can tell that this was all very well thought out and made "hush-hush" due to the timing of everything.. when I say "all" meaning them trying to keep it quiet and not let it get out. At the same time though it doesn't impede his coaching ability one single bit and in the end it is a personal matter to them.. just very embarrassing as stated earlier.

I thought Rex should have got the job. But I don't care anymore. I just wish JH was tougher on his coaches.
What if you found out JH had a fetish thing with his wife and the MSM found out? Fire John? Wish he wasn't hired? None of my business.
So the people who hate Rex are gonna go with this and try to take his job away? Wonderful. I myself think you fear him and his teams, that's why you hate him now.

It makes you think about the timing of this coming out. Rex and the organization just threw Sal Alosi under the bus. He's losing a lot of money. Maybe this is payback? People close to him had to have known about it... Maybe Sal leaked this to deadspin.

I wish Harbaugh was tougher on his coordinators too; I'll agree with you on that.

However, if Harbaugh was ever accused of what Rex is currently being implicated of, I'd certainly look at him different but it'd be the first major incident(the second if you want to count his radio exchange after the Steelers game three weeks ago) involving him that cast a negative light on the Ravens. Rex has repeatedly brought negative attention to the Jets since he took the job.

I don't see how I'm "trying to take his job away" so I'll leave that remark alone. You can think whatever you want but I can assure you that as a fan, I have no reason to fear Rex or his team. A team that has scored a total of 9 points in their past three losses isn't worthy of being feared.

I really don't care what he does with his personal life. You guys should mind your own business. I think you talked more about this then the coach that tripped Noah Carroll. Looks like you guys have a talk about Rex fetish.

We weren't the ones who posted the video or broke the story, so don't point the finger at us. If Ryan had wanted to keep it a "personal matter", it would have never become public domain.

You've discovered my sick truth :th_327321_Spy_23x22: I'm seeking help.

Talk about poking fun at Rex. The Chicago Tribune published a Rex Ryan story in a shape of the foot. Rex's head is the big toe and the letters J-E-T-S is the rest of the toes.

Pretty interesting I think.

It's not his personal life that's at issue, it's that he constantly finds ways to embarass himself and/or draws negative attention to his team. Deadspin has no journalistic integrity, so it's no surprise that they bothered digging into Rex's personal life. But because Rex is a public figure, he's subject to criticism and scrutiny.

However, my criticism is directed towards his smearing of his organization's reputation. Rather than be judged strictly for football, he's bringing other things to the table for the team to be judged upon, whether it's his mouth or the integrity of Jets employees, there's always something about the Jets. Rex, as the figurehead, has to take responsibility and turn this around or else he'll bring more embarassment to Jets fans in the court of public opinion.

The fact that this was happening so close to me is very...odd.

Rex used to live in the neighborhood 10 minutes from where my parents live. I guess this sort of relates to why they made everyone take their shoes off when they entered the house...good thing I had socks on.

Another week, another weird headline. The Jets should sign an affiliation with TMZ.

Too late for that; Jests are already the laughing stock of most circles. I'm glad to have guys like Harbaugh and 'vanilla' Matty here. I don't have to be ashamed to admit that I'm a Ravens fan.
