I can't provide a link as I'm posting from my phone but I'm guessing CNC read Kindle's Twitter page.

Earlier tonight, Kindle said he was "nervous" because his doctors aren't saying he won't suit up next season will or that he will either.

Wow that would suck if he can't go next season. I think he would be a great addition to this defense. Our defense isn't getting any younger, and with Cody and Kindle and whoever else they look at to add some more youth to this defense would be good in my eyes.

The D definitely needs an impact rookie or two but Ray, Ed and Gregg are really the only "old" defensive players.

Even if Kindle can't return, I'd say Ngata, Suggs and Webb are a solid foundation. Kruger has the rest of this year and next to prove himself, Cody has two, Arthur Jones has potential, Foxworth is still young, so is Wilson and Ellerbe has ability too.

While I hope it's not the case, even if he can't play, wouldn't the league give us a compensatory pick since he was never able to play?

Well, I'd rather not be talking like this.
I hope he can play, I was looking forward to seeing him.
It seems as if he would have filled a major role on this team.

It's tragic.

Ahhh this stinks, I was pumped the day of the draft when they snagged him, all I could think was the next Brian Orakpo opposite of Suggs.

While inconsistent, the Ravens have still managed to generate a pass rush without Sergio Kindle. Much of the talk about Kindle has been about his potential, rather than his actual production. Obviously, Kindle has been unable to show us what he can do at the professional level, but I'm not sure the loss of Kindle hurts as much as it initially seems, especially if he is an unknown quantity with no guarantee that he would ever have panned out for the Ravens.

I'd much rather have Kindle take all the time that the doctors recommend and fully recover before there's any talk of a long-term deal with the Ravens. His quality of life is more important than his performance on the field. Although the draft pick may have been "wasted," this was a freak accident that no amount of prognostication could have foreseen.

The Ravens are fortunate to be in a position, as a team, where playing their rookies has been a luxury rather than a necessity this season. Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta did not need to see the field often in the first half of the year because Todd Heap had played so well. David Reed was not on the field often at wide receiver because of the triple-threat in front of him. Terrance Cody was not forced into action before his weight and recuperation allowed because of Haloti Ngata's All-World performance. Sergio Kindle's timetable should not be an immediate concern and likely won't be a pressing issue in the offseason, especially if the personnel staff plans on reloading the defense anyway.

Tell you what though Franny, we have Kindle in those games against the Texans and Falcons and the outcomes would be different IMO.

But do we really know that, though? We're only judging him based off of his college career. Remember, for every success story like Mario Williams, there's a Vernon Gholston in the bunch. While I think that Kindle has the potential and skill set to succeed in the NFL and be a contributor to this Ravens defense, there's nothing to indicate that he would've had a greater impact this season if available, especially if he wasn't up to NFL speed compared to the guys in front of him.

I know it's hard to believe that he wouldn't beat out Paul Kruger or Prescott Burgess, but you can never underestimate the gap between being physically ready vs. mentally ready. Rookies that have early success will usually admit that they got by on their athleticism but struggled with the mental aspect through their first two years.

Hey... next season is still nine months away, even longer if something were to happen with the CBA. I think it's too early for us as fans to get concerned or worried. It might even be too early for Sergio to worry about it. There's still alot of progress that can be made in that nine months or so. At worst, he could miss another offseason and come into the game next year a little behind. However, I won't be concerned until I hear it from a valid source that he won't be able to suit up next year.

You all know the saying: No news is good news.

Ed, I see where you're are coming from but you say only Ed and Gregg are the only "old" players on our defense? Ray isn't old? Suggs is no spring chicken, Double J is no spring chicken either. I hate to say it but Haloti is getting some miles on him as well, and how bout Redding he is in his 8th season, I mean that might not seem like alot but when it comes down to it, we really have alot of guys that have alot of miles on them. I mean when you look at it our defense isn't a bunch of spring chickens, and as physical as a defense plays now a days or way back when, you have to say we have alot of guys that have age on em, and don't know just how long they will be able to keep a fast physical pace this day and age that the NFL calls for.

My bad I thought you were talking to me when you said "but ray" lol ok you were saying Ray Lewis, so I take the Ray Lewis back in the above. My bad lol.

And believe it or not, but our team is one of the oldest in the NFL on average, and most of that is on defense. Look it up and check it out, I couldn't believe it myself, as it just seemed like last year they were saying we had one of the most youngest teams. I mean something has to be going on, and I really don't buy the "well we just aren't getting pressure on the QB" fall back. We just have to face it, our defense is getting up there in age, to todays NFL standards and yeah it sucks and what really will suck is when Ray retires. Just imagine how that's going to be, he has been here since day one, so reality is coming and it's coming fast. I just hope every one doesn't start going postal when the real reality sets in on our defense. Catch my drift?

I still don't understand how over a year will not be enough time to completely heal from a fractured skull? I know not every injury is the same but a man called Jamie Roberts who plays rugby for my Country fractured his skull in a head to head collision against Australia. He was back playing again after six weeks.

I know, Fractures dont take that long to heal. I think it has something to do with his reaction time. But something about this screams Jared Gaither to me

I don't think it's a now or never moment with Kindle's recovery just yet people. The guy obviously needs time rather than being rushed into action. Remember, he thought he might be able to make it back this season, obviously an indication that his head is healed physically. While it's not a guarantee, I would think he will be able to play at some point.

Yea, I don't get it... I've had a fractured skull and was back to playing in about 4 months. He must have had some severe swelling. What a shame this would be, at least he has his life though and didn't Len Bias it.

I agree J-Man, players need to realize how idiotic they look by butchering the english language in such a way. Most are "college Grads".... LOL

when i saw us draft kindle i pictured him as a player to help JJ with a few snaps and develop over time to be his eventual replacement. Kindle looks like a high motor terrel/ Joey porter kind of player which we could use in blitz packages haloti suggs redding and kindle all rushing the opposing o-line looks intimidating in my mind plus he offers a quick pass coverage player also hunting down RB's in the flat. I personally think that he has plenty of time as said before with the 9 months till next season if the CBA is existant by then. And how i see us using him he has plenty to time before he becomes a need im pretty sure we can extend him again with a one year minimum contract and place him on I.R or whatever injury list i.e PUP if his future looks promising to be healthy in a year so its no cost of a roster spot. If the raiders wasted 50 mil on Russell i think we can spend 300k for another year to keep our first pick in the draft on our team developing for another year then deciding what to do. he obviously wants to play and is working as hard as possible thats the kind of player we need to hold onto and not give up hope on.
