Flacco Outperforming Boller And Smith

19 posts in this topic

Interesting indeed but thats not saying much seeing as though ESPN doesnt have a high opinion of Boller or Smith. I wont dismiss whats being said because it may be true but I will say take it at face value. Personally, I dont put much stock into anything that ESPN has to say. I'll wait for our coaches to tell us who looks impressive and who doesnt.

"Interesting" is not a valid take on a story. If you are going to put a link to a story...please don't have a lame one word take on it.

Just because a hack espn writer has an OPINION does not make it FACT.

Not to mention that it was a passing camp in shorts, no pads, no contact....3 days at that.

As for me, I'll wait to see how well all three learn the new playbook and perform once the real action starts...then I'll have an opinion.

Agree Crowdog, wait until they have to start reading defenses and are getting knocked on their butts. I want to see how this O-line protects said QB.

I agree, this should probably only be taken at face value. I mean, given the situation, I would assume Flacco would have looked the best, as he has the arm and is probably the most accurate of the three. The mini-camp played to his strengths. I am just waiting to see what happens when they really get into it. I mean I want to see what Flacco can do when he gets pressured. I would like to see if he can get the pass off in time, as holding on to the ball too long was one of his knocks going into the draft. Until then, you're right, it is just interesting.

Its true the mini-camps played to his strenths.. What about when training camp starts and they hit him in his weak spots? Pressure? Especially when our team blitzes. Even the best QBs dont know what to do at times.

I hope He is our QB of the future, Boller is the same ol same, and Smith Only shows flashes of being good. If Flacco outperforms Boller and Smith in training camp and pre-season then let the Flacco area begin.

Not just yet... Flacco shouldnt get more then 5 starts this season.. Thats what I believe should happen. He should gradually get it into the NFL. That way he can have more time to be that Franchise QB we been lookin for and not just thrown to the wolves like Boller was.

I've always believed in letting rookies sit and learn, but some QB's can come in and start right away while most cant. B-More needs the best QB starting regardless of what round they was drafted in, or how many years they have under there belt, Whatever QB lights it up in pre-season has my vote.

where did you get that one from? for a rookie in his first two starts, Troy did a hell of a job. the coaches and players were very impressed with how Troy handled himself when he played. i'm sure that the only reason there is so much speculation about the starting qb this year is because of the coaching changes. if billick were still here we would not have drafted a qb that high, if at all. today on the nfl network, jamie dukes reported that he was hearing out of ravens camp that if the season started today, TS would be the starter. let's just wait and see what happens in training camp and preseason, then the coaches can make a better assessment of who should start.

I think thats accurate. I've been hearing from alot of different places that the coaching staff is very impressed with Smith.

that's mabey the worst article I ever read in my life, there's a opinion but no facts, just stupid

Having Troy Smith in your signature doesn't have anything to do with that perspective, does it? Man, the TS fans are rabid...

Sometimes articles are editorial in nature, and all these articles don't mean squat because the coaches decide. Troy will get his shot - the coaches don't care about the Flacco hype. Best QB wins (if even it isn't your Troy).

Its not a good article. The guy doesnt even explain why he feels Flacco has out performed Boller and Smith.

As I've said many times before, I have No idea who you all were watching, Troy Smith DID NOT come in and do "a hell of a job". You really call a QB not completing a first down in a ENTIRE first half of His first start good? In the 3 day Mini-camps Flacco is the only QB who stood out from the rest. Take it for what it's worth but the reason none of the "experts" or any of the coaches has jumped on the Troy Smith bandwagon is simple because He did not show that He was ready to lead a team. I have no doubts that TS is learning and progressing this year, but unless He makes a huge progression then I dont think He's ready. I HOPE He proves me wrong, We cant beat having a 5th round draft pick be our franchise QB, but all I want as a fan is a QB that can be "our" QB.

agreed- i hear everything ESPN has to say, but if it isn't john clayton i don't take it too seriously.

however, if flacco does outperform boller and smith, he WILL start! it's really not a situation where you can say "but he's just a rookie, he needs time to learn " because though troy has a year under his belt, flacco is so smart that i would venture to guess that he already has the playbook down pat, and if it comes down to physical play-he deserves it. also, even though boller is still here, one has to wonder if he's anything more than an insurance policy anymore?

Espn is just going to say anything to grab you attention long enough for rating's... I my personal Opinion Boller was a good enough QB to get by... And I know I am probably going to ware it but McNair was a bum We had a party just to celibrate his being gone not retiring... I feel Troy will get the go ahead for atleast the first half of the season and then I expect to see Flocco the second half and dont forget we got a few new Hammers on the D-fence keep an eye out for Washington and Zbikowski... Washington has to either go big or give up and Zbikowski is a hard hitter just like Reed I am pumped about the up and coming season.. I work with all Eagles fans too <_< I cant wait for that home game...
