Have The Ravens Played Their "best" Football Yet?

23 posts in this topic

I'm nowhere near convinced we've seen ALL of what this team is capable of doing....
I have no reason to think we couldn't steam roll any other team in the NFL, but there seems to be a missing link.... what is it?

Cohesiveness, comradery, leadership. Ravens need someone to get off their HIGH horse and lead by example. If they can't do the job, namely blocking, Harbaugh needs to get someone who will. I said it before and stick to it, We may have signed one diva free agent too many. Goodby, we don't need you baggage.

there is no way we have seen all of what we can do.
other defenses can make it tough, but we have the talent to do great things.
after this whole year, where we should be blowing other teams away, I have to assume it is the coaching as the missing element.
in yesterday's game we really wanted to win, you could tell they had that extra something that makes them really WANT to get into that end zone (especially Rice)

Not until we score some second half td's with the great first halves we have been putting together. Imagine if we keep putting up 21 first half points, and something in the second.

NOPE!
Like any team we need to make there defense tired not ours. The O needs to sustain drives and the D needs to get off quickly. Seems simple but we seem to be really susceptible to getting tired in the end.

I'm going to say yes. It doesn't mean I don't believe this team can win a championship or compete with the best teams in the the league(they've already proven they can in the latter regard) but I think we have seen this team play it's best ball at different times this season. I hope I'm wrong though.

What game did the Ravens seem to get tired at the end without justifiable cause?

Our game against the Saints was our most complete game so far.

I disagree, i think the Dolphins game was our most complete, i just think the Saints game, presented a better opponent, and allowed the Ravens to answer a few question.

The Ravens dominated a gamed Dolphins squad back in week 9. They put their foots on the Dolphins throat and never let up.

Now with that being said, I feel the Saints game means more to this team right now.

Considering the way this team has played lately, I was really pleased with the win over the Saints. Hopefully, we are just getting into our groove and will maintain this high level of play for the rest of the regular season and into the playoffs. Go Ravens

The first half of the Texans, Saints, and Pats games were all pretty much the best football that the Ravens could play, but they have yet to really perform well all the way through the game. This week against the Saints was impressive, but our offense still had problems scoring points in the second half with no TDs. The passing game wasn't quite where it could have been, either, with Joe Flacco completing just half of his passes for about 175 yards. Efficient, but less than it could have been.

The next two weeks are great chances for the Ravens to iron out the rough patches in their game for the playoffs.

I think we are STARTING to play our best football. I am really looking forward to see if our O Line can be consistent in blocking, and penalty free.

I believe we will go as far as the O Line will take us.

Well, Ray Ray said today that it will not happen again and Ngata agreed. I'm confident that we will contain Peyton this sunday. Film helps

I'm not terribly concerned about Hillis. It's a quarterback driven league.

If Flacco gets good protection and the Ravens D makes McCoy look like the rookie that he is, I seriously doubt the Ravens lose even if Hillis has a repeat performance.

Yes I think Flacco will have a huge game Sunday. I'm sure the Browns will load up to stop Rice, and Flacco will take full advantage of the 8 and 9 man boxes.

We haven't seen Passing, Rush, Defense, and Special Team in one game. Against the Saints we had three (rush, D, and ST). As long as we have 3 of the 4 show up we are good. When all four dimension show up, that we be their best football yet.

To answer the OP's question, I feel the only thing that is missing with this team is overall consistency. At times the play calling on both sides of the ball has been superb, other times not so good. At times both lines have shown up, other times they haven't. There have been games where the "D" is dominant, others where the "O" is dominant. Some times it's the passing game, other times it's the run game.

This past game against N.O. was probably our most consistent to date, yet still lacked in producing second half TDs. If we can find some way of consistently putting all facets together for the remaining games & into the playoffs, we would be unstoppable.

I was among the many that felt we lacked in scoring second half points but, I was wrong. I went back and researched it and to my surprise we have only scored 24 less points in the second half from the first. 174 - 150 with the 2nd qtr. being our best and the 1st & 3rd being our worse separated by 3 points.
