What A Surprise

We finally see a good full game from the offense, especially the offensive line, and we beat the current Superbowl champions. I have to give credit to every man who laid a block for Ray and Willis in their dominant game. Then the rest falls into place, we look, in my opinion, the best we have all year.

Flacco, while not having the best of days in the stat column, made a couple of beautiful throws.

The D was good for the most part, and came up in the clutch when we needed them to.

This is what I said in the pre-game thread: One good offensive line performance was the line between us struggling and looking like one of the best teams in the league.

My hat is off to Cam Cameron, I can't think of one situation today where I was thinking that he made a bad call.

while yes im happy the Ravens beat the Saints and they actually played a full 60 mins.

you really cant say they dominanted the whole game, they did the first half but ill tell you this, me and my buddy were on edge the final few mins. But are D finally came through, it was and is a great feeling. I can honestly say are Secondary are not the problem, i have confidence with them, especailly Wilson and Webb. Carr has been playing well all season. The only thing i dont want to see is Ed Reed back there recieving punt returns, for one i dont trust him (fumbling) and another he is way too valueable for our Defense.
We need to get to that ball faster and be aware of it when we strip it, other than that im feeling confident for the play offs and we are tied for the #2 seed or slightly behind with one divison win less. Booyaa

[font="Century Gothic"]Don't stray too far now that the week is over! We actually like having you Saints' fans around!

there are a few of them and ill tell you this, they sure were confident and being cocky. Talking about our secondary being suspect which has been the case for a few games now.
They were also talking about how bad are defense is, im guessing because the only game they saw was the Texans game.
Man this win feels really good ,especially after the Steelers lost. Shouldnt we be on top now since we beat more team in are conference, Jetts we beat, they lost, Saints we beat they lost, Falcons we lost, they beat. But i think that doesnt matter, its all about the Divison wins more i guess. All we can hope for is they lose another game and we win out. It would be funny as hell if they lost to the Panthers next week, man that would be icing on the cake

I meant that the running game was dominant all game long, which you could certainly argue. And I fully agree about Reed fielding punts, the man is far too valuable to be hurt or give the ball away. Maybe he only does it when Webb is out of breath, but he's been very good recently with his punts.

I was fortunate enough to be at M&T Bank yesterday. Wow, what a game. We may not have been complete with no second half TD's but we did enough to win against a damned good football team and that is good enough for me. Great Job men. Loved the all black. I missed that.

Am I the only one (probably am) that has felt Reed has been lackluster for the past 2 weeks?
He just seems off. :th_sneak-1:

Offense played pretty good, the defense was iffy at times, going into stupid prevent but like last week, they came up with a big play to put the nail in the coffin. I was yelling for Redding to go down because I didn't want him to fumble the int lol.

As I mentioned in another thread, Zorn needs to tell Flacco that he can't take a loss of yards running out of bounds. He needs to throw that ball away. That was by far the stupidest thing I have seen a QB do since Orvolsky ran out the back of the endzone to give the other team a safety.

He hasn't been Ed Reed. That's for sure. But he still has played on a better level than Zibby, Ruki or Hamlin ever have.

I suspect the cold weather is making his bad hip ache. That would slow anyone down.

For the people that want Q more involved, it's natural to feel that way, but you might just be asking for too much. Boldin wasn't brought to Baltimore to be a huge stat guy, he was brought here to be a guy that we can look to on the outside in big games.

Boldin pulls double coverage often, and that allows others to be open. In a game like yesterday, it would have been pointless to try and force anything to Q. The offense was working just fine the way it was, and I give Cam props for not using Rice's success in the ground game as a reason to start airing the ball out.

The Saints did a good job of rolling coverage up on our WRs on the outside, but Flacco did an even better job of taking exactly what the defense gave him. The Ravens only attempted 20 passes, and completed 10 of them. The only players that had more then 1 catch was Dickson and Rice. Rice was a huge mismatch all day and it would have been foolish not to continue to feed him the ball.

I understand the feeling of, we brought Q in and he's a stud so use him. However Boldin is giving the Ravens just what they expected, and I believe that Boldin fully expected to have his numbers reduced playing in a run first offense with lots of other weapons.

If Cam would have tried to force feed Boldin or the pass game period, there would have been a lot of people really mad at Cam right now.

As for the offense as a whole. Gotta love the Baltimore Ravens fan base. We score 30 points(all offensive) and we still want more.

Chase perfection......and knowing you will fall short of perfection, keep pushing forward and you'll achieve excellence. That saying describes the Ravens fan base.

The Ravens only seem to put Reed back to field punts when the ball is expected to land inside the 10 yardline. I guess the Ravens just trust Reed's judgment more then Webb's right now. I think that'll change soon.

I also think when the Ravens just need a spark to get the offense going, you'll see Reed field punts.

I agree with your point that trying to force it to Q yesterday would have been pointless with Rice tearing it up, but in the bigger picture, I would like to see him a little more involved is all, especially as he is the best WR we have on the team.

Yeah that makes sense to be fair, but it still won't ease my nerves when I see him go back to field the punt.

I think the team values Ed's ball security(even with his occasional poor decisions) more than his actual return skills at this point. Webb has had a 20+ yard return in each of the last three weeks so he's been the spark.

You are 100% correct about that, but if we as fans can clearly see that Q is our best WR, then defenses around the NFL can see the same thing.

Could the Ravens force the ball to Q a lot more, of course. But why should run the risk of turnover when you have capable guys like Mason, Housh, and Heap who benefit from the coverage Boldin pulls.

Now if the Ravens can continue to run the ball with the amount of success we did vs NO, then it will be really hard for any team to roll coverage to Q's side of the field.

It's just like last season in late in the year and in the playoffs. Everybody knew that Mason was our best WR and Rice was our best second option. So they loaded the box to stop the run and shadow Rice out of the backfield, keep a safety over the top to account for Mason, and forced the Ravens to use Clayton and Heap to beat them.

Now having Q, Housh, Mason, Heap, Rice, Dickson, Stallworth, teams won't be able to do that as much because the Ravens will still be able to create mismatches.

If the Ravens can run the ball well, the passing game won't be pretty, but it will be extremely efficient and with the play action it could look explosive at times.

If the Ravens are in a playoff game and it appears to be a defensive battle, it's a 10-10 or 10-14 type game and the offense just isn't getting into any sort of rhythm.

I'd put money on Ed Reed going back to return a late punt. Unless Webb has had a really good game returning. But in most cases i believe the Ravens would go with Reed in that situation.

Point proven haha, fair enough. I just hope to see Q make some more plays before the season's done.

I actually think he'll go over 1,000 and get 10TDs in the next 2 weeks.

He needs 187 and 3TDs.

I can see the 3TDs coming in, but I would be less sure about the 187 yards he needs. I hope he does it of course, but he will need added attention, which I doubt he gets because we're not that kind of team, and nor is he that kind of player. They will put the win before individual statistics.
