Nfl.com Article On Ravens

i'm very pleased that harbaugh was choosing not to use the "R" word. (re-building) he spoke of just continuing to make the team stronger and i personally believe that's the way it should be!

as an eagles fan, i have been a part of a pretty significant winning run for the last decade. not too many teams can say that! we had 2 years where we didn't make the playoffs because of huge injuries and inexperienced players filling those spots. we recognised the flaws and simply made the team stronger and were a contender the following years.

OK,OK...we didn't win the big one, but what i'm trying to say is i'm not a gambling man but i would put money on it that the ravens will endure the same type of winning fever as philly.

i hate seeing our coordinators go but it's part of business and they deserve the chance to grow. if ever one of my coordinators were to go anywhere and me not get mad, it would be baltimore. hats off to you guys....you got a helluva coach on your hands.

Found this on NFL.com talking about how Harbaugh is going to try and bring the offense up to at complement the defense this season if not try and make it more on par.

I just thought I'd share this and see what you all thought about it.

Nice article. I think that the offense will have early success though, considering Troy Smith will (hopefully will) start at quartarback, and Cam Cameron will have his new, fresh style of offense, centered around McGahee as he did with tomlinson before.

"Sometimes you can say, 'I want to throw to set up the run,'" Cameron said. "Well, we're going to run to set up the passing game. That's our starting point. That's kind of my history. It just gives you a foundation to build from.

Thoughts on this?

I personally am very excited about the dual back threat we will hopefully have with McGahee and Rice. I also think it will relieve pressure from whoever starts quarterback, and result in less turnovers.

Yeah I like this idea as well, hopefully by setting a strong tone with the running game we can get the defense to over-play the run to the point where play-action passes and the like can set up for big plays for quickly moving receivers down the field and cause the defenders to hesitate just long enough for us to break something out without having pressure hitting our QB quite so fast.

Nice article, but I don't like all this recent attention we have been getting... I like when we fly under the radar and nobody likes us. Once we start winning games, then all the pundits will start praising us again =/

Nice article. But I still think the key for us on offense is to have a healthy Todd Heap. When Heap is healthy we can move the ball, whether its just in the running game or we are more balanced like in 06. Granted we are not the flashiest offensive team in the NFL, even with Heap, but when he's in there we can atleast play a field position/ defensive type of game. Without him we cant do anything right on offense. Here's to hoping Heap stays healthy and helps Cam give us a real offense in here in Baltimore.

AMEN Neepo! Heap is too much of a key player to not have in the game. whether its blocking or catching he does it extremely well and we can't afford to not have him in the lineup on gameday. i really hope wilcox can get healthy too because he is no slouch either. last year i thought sypnewski played great for the way he was thrown into the mix. im sad to see that he will be out for the season.

A point worth mentioning is look how important Gates was in Cam's offense in San Diego (I think San Diego means a whale's V, but when in Rome). Another point worth mentioning is that Cam had a more veteran QB to throw Gates the ball. All that being said, we still need more depth at TE. Right now things aren't looking that great in that department.

Hopefully the new offense will help the TEs avoid running "go 3 yards out and get annhilated by a LB or safety" routes. It's vital that Heap and Wilcox stay healthy.

I call that the Madden Video Game approach to football, as the game will allow you to do that without risking injury as often as in real life. It's also that philosophical approach that fools Madden gamers into thinking they could do a better job of coaching in the NFL than insert-your-head-coach-here.

Cool story, thanks for sharing. Oh man, August can't come soon enough, can it? Can't wait to see the offense in action, and I hope they do improve because once again we got a tough schedule.

your Eagles should've won the Super Bowl, if it weren't for Roy Williams injuring T.O, because while T.O was productive , he didn't seem to have that second gear which could've really busted the game open.

anyways, im loving the whole culture change, outsiders see our team having another so-so season but Harbaugh's got our guys to think otherwise. watch out now!

Yup, I can see the Ravens going to a possible super bowl run this season. The offense is underrated imo, and if Troy Smith proves himself this season and with cam's new offensive scheme, I expect a playoff run.

even though you can't really say a 2nd rounder was a steal just yet, i thought rice was easily a top 3 running back in this draft. some may say i'm crazy, but i saw a lot of this guy living in jersey. everybody's trying for the 2 back combo nowadays. i think the ravens just solidified one for many years to come. i was saying how coach harbaugh would have a lot of fun with mcgahee.....imagine what he'll conjure with both in the backfield!

Seriously... Heap took too many hard hits like that when Billick was here. Especially that one against the Cards...

<Athletic all pro tight end, all pro running back and a capable relief running back, much maligned QB (looks like the team might let him go).>

Does this scenario ring a bell!?

I dont know about that second part. Philip Rivers was green in the gills when he took over last season. Boller has been around longer then Rivers and Smith has more starting experience then Rivers had going into last season.
