this is great!

my wife and i was in Baltimore last week for the Steelers game. we stayed in the same hotel as the Ravens did. when we were on the second floor, my wife noticed the Ravens players coming down the escalator to go in to a make-shift area for a meeting. i saw:

Flacco
Rice
Stallworth (just said; "What's up?" as he went down the escaltor to the first floor)
Boldin ("Q" gave me the peace sign when he spoke to me)
McGahee
Suggs
Cam Cameron (he actually spoke to me first and said; "let's go get a win tonight shall we?")

when my wife and i went out of the hotel for dinner and came back in, we saw Tom Z and Webb. i actually shook Webb's hand on my way out of the hotel to walk to M&T Bank Stadium for the game as he was listen to music and waiting for his White Cadillac EXT sittin on 24s to be brought to him to ride to the stadium. i started to say; "Yo, Webby! Hook a brutha and a sista up with a ride cause it is freezing out here!" LOL!

great experience for me and my wife to drive up to B-more from VA to attend our first "LIVE" Ravens game and to see our boys in person at the hotel and on the field. i'll never forget it!

LET'S GO RAVENS!

I think so too. I think if you have greatness in you, you can learn from other players. Train? I think that's coaches job. Oh wait...we don't have coaches in Ravens.
It's not up to coach's alone to train a player. Numerous top-flight players around the league(like Ray) put in the work on their own time to become great.

He did a signing at this place in Jarretsville.

I have been to quite a few of these signings and Ray is the first and only one to ever extend his hand to me and look me in the eye and say "Hey man, hows it going?!" and seem like he was excited to see me.

Dont get me wrong I am NOT getting all sour grapes on the other guys I have met. None of them had to be there any way and they were all cool to one degree or another.

But Ray extended his hand to me (with a broken finger mind you) to shake my hand before I extend my hand to his. Looked me in the eye and greeted me.

There IS a reason he is the number one sports hero in Baltimore.
This guys is first class and all about the fans.

Ray's a pretty nice guy, his mom and family seem like good people too. I find a lot of the players are really down to earth despite all the hoopla over their celebrity status.

Not to go into details, but I'm (what I consider) blessed to have a position that allows me the opportunity to be between owners and players alike. I meet some of the players often, and occassionally I get to meet guests (big name guests) of these hosts. My best moment was meeting most of the players from the 2000 team when they came to town for the XXXV Superbowl win celebation. Stover, Taylor, Boulware, Siragusa and others; it was the most fun I've had since I started the season. It was nice listening to their take on the game and critique of the plays or players. One of the guys gave me a hug on the way out (thought that was weird), but when I say these guys are down to earth, I really mean it.

A friend of mine saw Kyle Boller at the airport a few years ago. He said Boller was a complete jerk.
Well you can't blame him, he was probably freshly frustrated after throwing 4 picks and tripping over his own feet during a loss.

I'd say alot depends on the context of what boller was doing at the time.

I've met two athletes I admire and both were great but I had heard from others that these two were jerks. Both I had met in an environment where it was more conducive to them being open and I.m really not a gawker. I know people that tried to talk to one when he was out with his family. So to me that's a bit of private time and I would have just said hi in passinf

i met ray when all the murder stuff was going on and i have to say even then he was a great guy. I was working at the Sports Authority in Catonsville at the time and he and a couple of buddies of his came in to buy a bunch of weight equipment. I helped them out with everything while trying to keep it professional and not be like a 15 year old girl in the presence of my favorite football player. Ray was quiet as I figured he would be with everything he had going on during this time. While bringing the weights up to load into his car I asked one of his friends if he would mind if i got an autograph after he was done shopping. The friend kinda got excited and was like oh yea man he would love that, he loves his fans and anything that can take his mind off of his issues right now helps. So I loaded up his Range Rover and the rear was sagging down from the 5-600 lbs of stuff back there now and he said something like dang this thing is sitting on the rims now. Being somewhat of a car nerd I told him he could raise it up because it had air suspension. He looked at me like what the heck is this guy talking about. So i walked up and pointed to where he could adjust the suspension higher to get home. He tried it out and made it lift up to clear the wheels which were gigantic btw and he gets back out of the car and shakes my hand and said something like I dont know how you knew that but thanks that was awesome. I of course was smiling from ear to ear to hear this from him. At that point I asked him if he would mind signing a ball for me and he was like yea man whatever you want. So I ran and got a ball off the shelf and he gladly signed it for me.
Met a bunch of guys in that store, Ed Reed, McCrary, Boulware, Marvin Lewis. Ed always looked like somebody who was trying to steal football gloves so security would alert me on the radio to go help him out then I would see who it was and feel stupid.
