I Met Ray Lewis Tonight

42 posts in this topic

He did a signing at this place in Jarretsville.

I have been to quite a few of these signings and Ray is the first and only one to ever extend his hand to me and look me in the eye and say "Hey man, hows it going?!" and seem like he was excited to see me.

Dont get me wrong I am NOT getting all sour grapes on the other guys I have met. None of them had to be there any way and they were all cool to one degree or another.

But Ray extended his hand to me (with a broken finger mind you) to shake my hand before I extend my hand to his. Looked me in the eye and greeted me.

There IS a reason he is the number one sports hero in Baltimore.
This guys is first class and all about the fans.

Ray learned from his early problems and has become a classy person, and a player. We all know he will be a first ballot hall of famer. Hopefully he can turn some of our young line backers into stars.

Oh man I live in Niagara On the Lake now, and I'd give my two front teeth to be in the same room as that guy, such an inspiration. Also an incredible father, I hope to be like him (as a person haha no way I'm becoming the best LB ever) when I get older and have a family.

I could get jacked by my fellow Steelers fans for saying this, but I'm not surprised. I agree with what Grem said: He learned from his mistakes and never looked back.

I met him once at a signing. You are exactly right. He is very inviting and friendly. He said "Hey buddy" and waved to my son. My son stood in awe and couldn't spit out a single word. lol
Very nice guy.

He put my son in a headlock ... my son wanted me to help, and I stepped back and shoved my ex towards him lmao... he is a genuine guy, but a very large one. I value my safety haha

Cool man. I ran into Ray at the players entrance and was about to shake his hand until some Steeler D-bag cut me off and grabbed for it.

There are a lot of guys on the team that i've heard are real down to earth.

Matt Stover let me friend hold his super bowl ring.
Bart Scott shook my hand .
Willis signed 2 things for me, got a pic with me, and we kinda did a 1 arm hug. I was teasing him about how i started him in my FF league in 2008's opener and got nothing. He laughed. Real cool dude.

Ray Rice was kind of a tool but it is what it is. He was probably having an off night. I still like to see him succeed.

Damn, I wish that steeler fan didnt deprive me of that hand shake. Ray's hands probably smell of coal and incest now. (from the steeler fan, not you)

My wifes father just gave me a brand new Ray Lewis Jersey last week, man if i would of known he was signing autographs, i would have been there. If i would have gotten it signed id plack it and it would be sitting right in my living room wall.

Good for you man, i am seriously envyous right now.

I got one of those manly half-hugs from Ray last year after the Bears game. I sure am glad that Ray has turned out like he has.

Reminder:

Ray will be making an appearance at the Game Day Warehouse in Baltimore ( near the stadium) AFTER the Saints game. So, for those who want to meet him, go to the Warehouse. Lots of TVs, Couches, and of course food and booze.

Met Anquan Boldin at a "signing" at the Annapolis Mall Under Armor store. He seemed really quiet and reserved, but maybe that's just his personality. I would love to meet Ray Lewis someday. Jealous!!!

Hey K-DOG you are right , he is a class act . I have met him there before and numerous other places . I attend alot of these signings and the only other player that ranks with Ray is Todd Heap . Heap talked to my son about football and school , asked us if we wanted a picture taken with him and did so with my son , niece , wife and myself individually then a family photo . That means alot to us as fans and we are paying for this too . The worst one to sign for me was Mason , honestly i'm glad I got everything I wanted signed by him because I will not support his signings anymore . Well i'm glad you enjoyed the signing .

I'm curious to hear what happened as well. When me and my buddies went to the game in Minnesota last year D-Mase and Heap were the only ones to give us a reaction when we were in the stands. Yelled Derrick at him and he looked up at us and gave us the ole thumbs up for the game, looked surprised to see some Ravens fans there, if only Haushcka made that FG.

All the others were all focused and just ignored us like any other person would ignore a bunch of drunks lol

I think so too. I think if you have greatness in you, you can learn from other players. Train? I think that's coaches job. Oh wait...we don't have coaches in Ravens.

Sorry I missed the Ray Lewis autograph session, but I did meet Joe Flacco after his first win in his rookie season. He was a guest at Derrick Mason's radio show in Hunt Valley. Joe was so cool. He couldn't understand why the fans were so excited. He said something like "I don;t know what all the fuss is about, we only won one game" LOL! He signed a football for me and took lots of pictures with fans after the show. He was really nice and seemed to appreciate all the attention, even though he didn;t really understand what all the fuss was about.

was he wearing a snuggie?

the only Raven I've had any interaction with was Bart Scott when he used to train at a facility I worked at. He seemed like a really fun guy. I get the impression that athletes really appreciate the dedication and support the fans give them.

Met boldin in az right after he was traded. Actually second time I saw him but first time I was in a position to talk to him. I told him that the thing I wanted to see from him most was a crack block on a steeler lb. he laughed but admitted to being excited and ready to play

I went to a Mase signing and he seemed cool to me. Normal really. Nothing about him screamed class act, but nothing seemed toolbag either. He shook my nine year old daughters hand and said hello to her so that was cool enough for me.
