Favorite Stand Up Comedians

157 posts in this topic

Who are your favorite stand up comics? Personally I like Daniel Tosh. I still think Dane Cook is pretty funny, but not as much as I used to. Nick Swardson is pretty funny as well. Who is your favorite?

Let's see, my top ten would be (in no particular order at all. It's too difficult to rank them):
Mitch Hedberg
George Carlin
Lewis Black
Greg Giraldo
Kevin Hart
Jim Gaffigan
Patton Oswalt
Brian Posehn
Bill Engvall
Christopher Titus

My ole man saw George Carlin way back in the day, got the tickets from someone that owed him money.

Dave Chappelle always cracks me up, Joe Rogan is a pretty funny guy as well.

It's good to see a fellow K-Hart and Patton fan. Very few people crack me up like those two do. I can't even go to KFC anymore without thinking (and singing in my head) Patton's KFC Famous Bowl song.

From those who are no longer with us, it is true that Bill Hicks, Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Greg Giraldo are very good. Sometimes I wonder what Bill Hicks and George Carlin would have to say about current events in this day.

As for current comedians, my favorites are Bill Maher, Kathy Griffin, David Cross and Alison Arngrim. Those are my fave-raves.

King of the one liner- Mitch Hedberg
Rodney Dangerfield, Steven Wright... much better one-liners. Mitch was just... Mitch. He was king of Mitch.

During "Seriously Funny", his bit about his cranky grandfather had me rolling. Maybe because my grandfather is exactly like that. Now my girlfriend hates when I give her that look and "Look at that cat drinking milk out the bowl!". Not to mention, he's alot like me.

Hahahaha, it's sad because I know exactly what you're talking about. I love when he tells about his zoo story, running away from the gorilla!

I couldn't stop laughing at that part myself. Kevin Hart is hilarious.

I don't know too many stand-up comedians but the ones that have really made laugh include:

Dave Chappelle
Jerry Seinfeld
Charlie Murphy
Arnez J
Bernie Mac
Rudy Rush
Chris Tucker

Carlin, Hicks, Pryor.

Classics can't go wrong. Even add Eddie Murphy "Raw" to the mix and you can't go wrong.

He is my favorite. You have to be a random person to truly enjoy his randomness.

But some of my favorite current ones (and alive) Jim Gaffigan, Zac Gaf, Pablo Fransisco, Bob Sagat, Brian Regan and Todd Barry.

I used to be able to recite most of Mitch's material by heart. I'm a stand-up fanatic...

Another classic comedian (who is also dead now) is Sam Kinison.
True. Too bad he died just before his career could have really taken off.

Same here but over the past few years I've sort of died off from watching many comedians. Its a shame. But I did get to see Mitch in person, blitzed (both of us) and it was a laugh fest.

"....An escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. You would never see an "Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order" sign, just "Escalator - Temporarily Stairs". Sorry for the convenience. We apologize for the fact that you can still get up there."

Oh my god, I had to look him up, but that guy?! He's awesome! I saw his special and was laughing the whole time.

"I would like to have a product for three easy payments and one ******* complicated payment. We can tell you which payment it is, but one of these payments is going to be a *****. The mailman will get shot to death, the envelope will not seal and the stamp will be in the wrong denomination. Good luck, ******!"

Mitch's delivery just made everything even more hilarious.

That's just it, he was all delivery. I hate watching comedians that have any sort of Mitch influence. It's easily detectable and annoying. One of the few comedians who cannot be touched at what he did.

That's because a helluva lot of drugs help to make for a great delivery.

Anything that's not Dane Cook. I don't even understand how he can be funny.

I don't really watch a lot of stand up, but I saw Daniel Tosh once before his show. He is definitely hilarious.

I didn't really like Seinfeld's stand-up, from what I've seen, but his show is one of the best things on television, still.
