NFL MVP

40 posts in this topic

with the season coming to a close the MVP conversation gathers pace so who wins it?

i think it might just be a straight fight between Brady and Vick. probably with Brady winning it based on his recent performances etc.

although Matt Ryan does deserve some consideration considering the falcons record.

Anyone besides a QB?
its possible but who? if chris johnson didn't win it last year i can't think of anyone this year that can match that sort of performance

Homer Picks:
Suggs
Ngata
Flacco (why not? He's one bad game away from being top 3 in QBrating)

Realistic Picks:
Brady
Wake
Roddy White
Foster

No one else really comes to mind.

There is Brady and than there is everyone else....

Ya if anyone has watched Brady post Moss its pretty ridiculous, and the MVP is all but sealed already to him.

Unless Mike Vick can pull another MNF Redskins massacre, Tom Brady runs away with it.

Me and my friends have been arguing who's gonna win MVP. He thinks Mike Vick is. I told him Tom Brady is gonna win MVP and Vick is gonna be Offensive Player of the Year.

The man deserves something for what he did against the Jags. Still can't believe this run.

Ahmad Bradshaw, Roddy White, Arian Foster, Andre Johnson, Santonio Holmes, Hakeem Nicks...just throwing names out there. These are obviously not QBs.

McFadden? Eww....

I think David Reed's return yesterday was better but yeah, McFadden's been playing well this year despite me being biased against him.

Tom Brady hands down... but IF it were to go to a non-QB I would say Maurice Jones-Drew. Yeah Garrard has been ok but alone Drew has carried the Jags team to the AFC South Crown and the playoffs and saved Del Rio's job.

ehh.. on a team with a losing record, plus he missed 2 or 3 games.

If it weren't for Vick, I could easily see him winning the comeback player of the year award.

I think the MVP has to go to Brady... Vick hasn't started, what, 3 or 4 games?.. He's playing lights out, but Brady has been unreal, especially down the stretch when it really matters.

Though it's a dead heat between Brady and Vick, the tiebreaker for me is how the season would go for each team if neither man played. Kevin Kolb showed flashes of playing well when Vick went down (ironically after Vick replaced Kolb due to his own injury), so the Eagles could conceivably be afloat in the NFC East with Kolb under center, just not as dominant. The Patriots, meanwhile, have an unknown quantity at QB behind Tom Brady in Brian Hoyer. It's not likely Belichick would catch lightning in a bottle twice with an unknown backup QB playing in relief of Brady, which demonstrates the greater value that Brady has to the Pats than Vick has to the Eagles.

Franny said it best, Brady brings more to his team than Vick. Just like Peyton, Brady has the ability to turn young no-name receivers into superstars and that's something I have to give him credit for despite the obvious detest I have for him. Yes, Vick will probably end up being the runner up but I have my doubts on whether he would be able to accomplish the same stats he has if he were to play against AFC defenses week in, week out.

As of last Sunday I'd say it's Tom Brady 1a and Mike Vick 1b.

Depending on what happens in these last two weeks could swing momentum for either player.

There could also be an possible choice of a Co-MVP like Manning/McNair in '03.
