i have no doubt about that. But I also dont think that's necessarily something he wants to stop doing. It becomes second nature to some people at an early point in their lives...it's a gift, not a curse.

I guess. Regardless of what I say, he's been successful throwing the deep ball even with him doing it off his back foot a lot of the time.

I would say Michael Vick is the best I have seen... his deep balls are the most effortless throws you can imagine and they literally zoom out of his hand with a flick of his wrist!

Joe Flacco underthrows his receivers a lot. I would not say it's an arm strength issue, but more a timing issue.

But best deep ball used to be Peyton Manning. In the days of Marvin Harrison you pretty much couldn't do anything to stop those guys from going over the top.

But present day I'm going to have to say Aaron Rodgers never dissapoints. I don't know why he is the last in voting in here. And I never considered Brady to have a strong arm so not sure why he is on here.

I think it's Aaron Rodgers. His ability to get it down the field coupled with his accuracy, IMO

How Peyton and Aaron Rodgers are that far back in the polls just shows the homerism and lack of NFL knowledge within these forums. Timing on deep balls is his biggest issue. But really no comlaints. I hope he becomes accustomed to Stallworth's speed, because when he does those two could be unstoppable.

Tom Brady that's a given 2nd to Brady would probably be Micheal Vick. So just because I am a ravens fan doesn't mean I am going to agree with one of my teammates when they have less talent. I am unbias when it comes to player skill and talent.

Not a very large sampling so far, but Vick definitely has the nicest deep ball Ive seen.
agreed!

Vick has a killer arm and his deep throws are streamlined and travel fast. poetry in motion!

Are we talking about throwing a deep ball that ends in a completion?
lol ... Brees isn't exactly the first (or second or third or fourth) name that comes to mind when I hear the phrase "deep ball"

Okay, there are way too many homers here lol ... I'm okay with Flacco winning, because he is definitely in the top 3. But to run away with the award??

I chose other because - for me - it's 1. Michael Vick, 2. Rex Grossman, 3. Aaron Rodgers, 4. Jay Cutler, 5. Tom Brady, 6. Joe Flacco. People can knock me for putting Jay Cutler there but you have to look at every deep throw circumstantially. I didn't want to over-analyze any throws, like the one A-Rod missed in the playoffs.

A year ago, I'd probably have McNabb at #3 but he's not been accurate on deep throws this year.

For me, the criteria is velocity, control of the velocity, and the accuracy while on the move. If we're judging exclusively balls from 31 and beyond, that's my list and I'll defend it. Tom Brady very rarely doesn't get to step into a deep throw. I won't count the 2007 Championship Game or Super Bowl against him due to an ankle injury.

You lost any credibility when Rex Grossman was mentioned....

Tune in tomorrow. If Sexy Rexy is sacked four times or fewer, he'll have a higher yards per completion than McNabb.

In preseason, he was throwing fastballs into small windows. Remember, in Chicago, he had no receivers and suffered from a simplistic offense. Run, run, play action bomb to Bernard Berrian (how's he doing?) or an extremely raw Hester or Mark Bradley (who is out of the league).

Look at how Orton - who said he learned more in a week with McDaniels than he did in four years in Chicago - flourished when he left Ron Turner's system.

58.5% comp., 2972 yards, 18 TD, 12 INT in 15 games
58.8% comp., 3653 yards, 20 TD, 9 INT(with 3 INTs last week while hurt) in 13 games

And Rex has a far stronger arm than Orton.

What would you prefer me do, just judge based solely on stats, irrespective of opportunity, protection, and weapons? That takes any debate out of it.

Rex Grossman has totally otherworldly arm strength. He may not be the most accurate but I'm making an educated guess based on all I've seen of him situationally and in pre-season (the most relevant evidence from a pure deep throw standpoint).

I'm not a Rex homer. He can't run or throw on the run. I admit that I could be wrong on my guess. He is one of my favorite quarterbacks (Cutler, Kitna, Rodgers, Brennan, Saskatchewan's Darian Durant and Schaub are the others), but I wouldn't put him in the top 5 overall quarterbacks.

Might as well throw in j Russell too... He can outthrow em all since it seems u love pure arm strength and don't incorporate accuracy into the op's question

Agreed....both QBs suck. This is one of the most hilarious attempts to build someone up on our board that I've seen in recent memory.

The best deep ball top to bottom

Phillip Rivers
Payton Manning
Tom Brady
Michael Vick

Flacco is somewhere between 7-10 in this category.

I have no clue who Matt Schrab is, and Brees can't hold Flacco's jockstrap when it comes to deep passes. You watching the game today?? I present exhibit A.
