My Apologies To My Team The Baltimore Ravens

32 posts in this topic

I pride myself on being a huge Baltimore Ravens fan. When it comes to fanhood in my school, I am unrivaled. I love this team no matter what. I've always hated negativity I like to focus on the positives no matter what which is why I've kind of shied away from these boards recently. Anyway, we were up big last night and there is absolutely NO WAY we should've let them back into the game and when they drove down the field 90+ yards for the second drive in a row and tied the game, I did something that I never want to do to this team. I quit on them. I said to myself "I've seen this before. We're going to lose this football game." I took off my Derrick Mason jersey and threw it onto the floor. Fortunately, we were able to force Schaub to throw that horrible pass and win the game. I just wanted to own up to what I did and say I'm sorry my fellow fans and I'm sorry Ravens I won't give up on you ever again!....Whew, glad thats off my chest :)

We could go 0-16, and I wouldn't stop bleeding purple. Gotta take the good with the bad!But yeah, as soon as they got up to 20 points, I said to myself 'here we go again...'

Agreed. If we made it through the 2005 and 2007 seasons we can make it through anything.

I shared your relief when Wilson picked Schaub off.

In fairness, that was as strange and un-Raven-like performance, win or lose, I have ever witnessed. Allowing back to back 90+ yard drives was something I never thought would happen.

Out of interest, which strip is your Mason jersey?

At halftime I was hot. So I took off the Ed Reed Jersey. Then when the Texans tied things up, I realized it was because I didn't have my jersey on. I promptly put it on, pounded my chest and said "see I'm sorry! It's on now", then the Ravens won.

Sorry guys I let you down, I took my Jersey off for a half because I was hot.

Everybody...I have a confession. Last nights game was my fault. I totally forgot to put on my lucky Ray Lewis jersey until the overtime coin toss. The game would've over much earlier had I remembered to put the jersey on sooner.

I'm with you, I almost gave up. Almost didn't watch the end. But soooo glad I did. WOW what a mood changer in 0 to 100 in 1 sec! I think I woke everyone in my apartment building screaming.

Good call with the away strip, I've got a Ray Lewis away jersey. Being as I live in the UK, when I went to the international series game, I didn't see too many Ravens fans, but I bumped into a guy with a Heap jersey on in a bar, that was pretty cool. Far too many Brady jerseys though, I had to restrain myself.

i have a pair of purple denims that i looooove to wear when the boys are playin...but--i noticed that when i wear them (more specifically when i wore them last sunday--) the Ravens lose a game. my bad, guys.....last week i shed my 1st EVER tears over a football game. afterwards, i went home, vowed never again to wear the purple jeans on game days; and created a spirit stick to rally my energies on Sundays (much to the dismay of my boyfriend--it makes alot of noise)...i put a ton of spirit into said stick and toted it around with me all day yesterday. Low and behold... their excellent 1st half, defense plowing through the Texans, and that last play (the game winning touchdown) all were fueled by my rallied spirit stick, and my devotion to the Ravens!!!! GO RAVENS!!!!!

seriously, if you DIDNT have a sinking feeling going into OT, you are not very realistic.

We had just watched two quarters of butt whoopin' with a defense that was beyond exhausted. Having a sinking feeling doesnt make you less of a fan.
By no means.

Had we not won the coin toss we likely would not have won.
In the end, we figured out a way to win.

I'll take it.

I did not have my purple underwear on last night, for that, I am sorry. I did not realize until I went to get dressed for work today. They are on today, in support of the Ravens, and my manhood. I knew darned well how "the sky is falling" would be the mantra on talk radio and the net. It is what it is, it is a game. I bleed purple, and I wear purple, right down to the undergarments.

I almost didn't watch OT. Part of it was that I was almost sure we were going to lose, but most of it was that I didn't care. Not that I didn't want a win, because obviously I did, but because I was already more mad than I would be when we LOSE. I kept it on though, because I wanted to see first hand what happened with my team. Then after we won I didn't know what to do. I turned the TV off (kept the surround sound on to listen and make sure there were no penalties haha). So many highs and lows, I felt like i needed xanax.

Last night was actually my fault. I was cold, so I put on clothes in the second half. Then I realized, "Hey, why am I watching the game at the bar with my clothes on?" I took them off, and Josh Wilson did "the rest" (aka nothing).

And last night, before I practically cried from happiness, I had a feeling I hadn't felt in the regular season in a while. I thought to myself "we're not going to tjhe playoffs". The Chargers and Colts have an EASY schedule left. We cannot afford to mess up.

very funny!
does everyone have "lucky clothes" (wherever they may be on your body) for the wins?
gotta wear the same things for the next few weeks!
I have a sparkly Ravens shirt - I only wear it when we win!!
Go get 'em! We need to show up for the Saints.

RAVENS silly bandz that my daughter gave me.
its the number 5
the number 27
both in yellow,
The Raven bird head in purple
and the logo B in yellow.
I wear those four silly bandz and the team does well.

Ya I seen a guy at a bar wearing a Brady jersey and I sacked him. It was just kinda instinct. The bar owner threw me out for roughing a customer wearing a Brady jersey. I tried to argue it was perfect form sack and there for legal. He didn't listen to me.

BTW maybe we should all start wearing "play like a raven" shirts. Maybe they'll start playing like it. Jk jk

I can honestly say, I was thinking to myself when they tied it last night that if we lost, I wouldn't be able to watch anymore regular season games until the playoffs or something, or else i'd have a heart attack. Glad we won so I didn't have to think twice.

i thought that myself actually, i love my ravens and all but still. all my friends that are ravens fans were saying the same thing. i thought it was ridiculous. i actually was yelling at the tv.

the texans had all the momentum going into overtime. and then they sacked us on 3rd and 10 so we had to punt. i knew they had all the momentum from coming back and then that sack so i thought the game was over. then i saw our defense wake up and must've had benefited from the rest they got. i saw the pressure again and then the pick and i was yelling at the tv for good this time lol

Yep, that's a true fan..... The Ravens have never played that bad, and I'd hate to see it. Atleast we'd get the 1st round pick. About the Texans, we got the win, and that's really all that matters at the end of the day. I'll be honest, I am an Orioles fan, and I get excited every spring with optimism, and have stuck with them for all these years, can't help but love'em.

I left the jersey I wore to the Steelers game in the closest, and broke in my new Jersey last night for the W. My previous jersey had a 4-0 streak. I had to tell my dad to shut up because his crying and yelling at the tv was becoming quite annoying. I already knew the comeback was coming, I just didn't think it would be that bad. I said coming into the game we needed at least 24 points no matter what our D did. Sadly this week we're going to need at least 30 and I don't see it happening. I hope I'm wrong but I'll be supporting them no matter what like all real Ravens fans should.
