Kubiak For Oc?

42 posts in this topic

Its speculated that Kubiak could lose his job in Houston, and was even asked about it by Houston area reporters in his post game press conference. Now there was a thread for McDaniels to bring his offense in, but I wondered about Kubiak last night. He is an extremely accomplished OC with the Broncos and he calls the plays in Houston. I think if you were to replace Cam it should be with a guy like Kubiak, not McDaniels.

Just a fantasy "what if" scenario but then again so was the McDaniels scenario.

If Ed Reed thought they had the best playbook, I'd be for it, since he always does his homework. But the likelihood of this happening? Pretty slim.

I'm not one to advocate changing coaches too often. I believe you should give the ones you have a chance but I MUST for the first time look away from Cam Cameron whom I highly redard as an OC and look to Kubiak. I believe in coaches that can evaluate talent not just call plays. There are a plethora of play callers in the NFL, and we've had our fill of them here, but a coach who can evaluate talent is worth his weight in gold. Kubiak knows offensive linemen. He could be the answer.

Good thought from where I sit

Apparently, Hue Jackson and Tom Cable do not get a long at all. So im hoping Hue gets fired and we bring him in as OC.

I like this idea. Kubiak is a great OC and he isn't a headcase like McDaniels. I'm not sure whether the FO is ready to cut ties with Cam yet but I certainly wouldn't object.

"Apparently, Hue Jackson and Tom Cable do not get a long at all. So im hoping Hue gets fired and we bring him in as OC."

If we wanted Hue as our OC wouldn't we have hired him while he was still with our organization?

Definitely worth a thought yes. I think he could certainly make Flacco look elite, he managed it with Schaub. Don't get me wrong, but we all know Joe has a great deal of upside to him. If he calls the plays for Houston, one of the best offenses in the league, I wouldn't be opposed.

Can't see Cam being fired however, not unless it becomes clear that some more people become unhappy with him.

Word is that the organization loves Jackson. So I'm pretty sure they would get rid of Cable before Hue.

Kubs would be a great hire IMO, and is a huge upgrade over Cam. But than again, most people are.

At this point yeah. Scoring only 21 points against one of the worst defenses in the league is just disappointing. I wonder what the team does in the locker room during half time? Start packing their bags so they can get ready for next week?

I like Kubiak. He has done a great job with the offense there. No problems on that front. Right now, I'd probably like him more than Cam.

Hue and Cam came in together. We do miss him and I think so does Flacco. Hue has been stellar everywhere he's coached, Cincy, Atlanta and now Oakland. If Cable can't get along with Hue Jackson he can't get along with anyone. He needs more than anger management therapy but don't tell Al Davis. He might do the right thing and hire Hue as head coach. Atlanta really screwed up. He was there doing a great job and they let him go. This guy is a genius of a leader.

I don't think we can pin this one on Cam (unfortunately haha) ... I felt he did a great job last night.

You think he did a great job, even with the 3rd and 2 call?

A great job? The offense left the defense out to dry the second half, whatd they get 4 first downs the entire half? There was defensive guys on the sidelines getting oxygen and IV because they'd be on the field the whole second half.

If they had executed the plays he called we might have a better perspective. We all think of the assets a new coach, like a new OC, can bring to the organization but we don't see how that will affect our team's progress in developing the new talent that has been acquired. Maybe we signed too many Divas this season. I smell owner intervention here.

Huh? The team signed one diva in Houshmandzadeh in the off-season; two if you want to count Mason being re-signed. Q is a team player through and through.

Bring it on Ed. I've seen "The Quan" doing a lot of yelling on the sidelines lately. We got 3, Housh, Mason and The Quan. Shame Ozzie napped on Dez Bryant and let Dallas jump ahead of us in the draft to pick him.

Can you bring up specific instances where Q has yelled on the sidelines? The Falcons game where he urged the entire unit to play better and the Bengals game where everyone was justifiably frustrate were the only games I've seen Q demonstrative on the sidelines.

EDIT: You talk about the team possibly signing too many diva WRs and bring up Bryant?

Before the Steelers game, look at his stats for the last couple of games. Mason clearly was outshining him, and he wasn't targeted very much.

Not one comment by him about this, which is rare in WR's today. Boldin is the furthest thing from a diva WR in the NFL.

You gotta "bring it on" more than that man.

Why would we trade up two spots when we only had three picks at the time?

OK Ed. I'll accept that. I brought up Dez Bryant because he's a beast.

Sounds like a topic for a new thread, Dez Bryant.

First McDaniels... now Kubiak, I guess if Jason Garrett is retained in Dallas we'll see a thread saying Jason Garrett for OC lol but now to be serious. I would take Kubiak over Cam and McDaniels but there is one thing we should be worried about, the Head Coach Vacancy in Denver.

With Elway back in Denver, and the fact Kubiak was in Denver when Denver won the Super Bowls with Elway, and considering Elway will have some input on the new coach, Elway would probably choose Kubiak since he is familiar with him. Plus I'm sure Kubiak would also be sought after by other coaches with HC vacancies so if he is getting offered Head Coaching Jobs he wouldn't basically take a demotion to OC. Kubiak will be tough to get but it would be worth a shot.

Bryant's a beast and an impact player. Developmental players are a tossup. We actually had 4 but it doesn't matter. We had picks next year to trade. Ozzie gets pretty good value for his picks.

Well, would you give up three draft picks for Dez Bryant? Also mentioning that we already had tons of depth at the receiver position back then.

No doubt Dez is a man-child but please, no new thread. He's a Cowboy, end of story. WRs are getting acclimated to the pro game quicker than ever so there's no reason the Ravens can't draft and develop a productive WR even if they're not the specimen Dez is.

Who knows, David Reed could be that guy.

Him being a rookie doesn't mean he doesn't have an attitude. We saw it during training camp and on Thanksgiving.

The video isn't available but I clearly remember seeing it happen.

This team doesn't have too many divas. End of. Anquan is clearly the most unselfish receiver that you could mention. He actually said somewhere, when it was mentioned that he was quickest in NFL history to 600 receptions that he didn't care about personal records, he just wanted a championship. That is NOT a diva at all. I don't count outbursts about the offense underperforming as being a diva either. Mentioning Dez Bryant is irrelevant as well. There was simply no need for us to trade away picks (which we didn't have too many of, and Ozzie doesn't like trading away future picks) to take a receiver when we were as stacked as we'd ever been.

Nah not a fan of Garrett's. But I have heard Kubiak could go back to Denver if he is fired, but if he is fired I think we should make a run at him for OC.

There are quite a few sources that believe Jackson will be targeted by the Bengals for their next head coach ( Lewis likely to get canned).
