"i Am An Elite Quarterback" --- Joe Flacco ---

266 posts in this topic

I like point this fact out, so even though I've said it in something like three other posts, Flacco was projected to need two seasons on the bench before he would be ready (i.e. capable of playing under center and reading defenses) to even start an NFL game. I think we as fans have been a bit spoiled with how well he's actually played in his first three seasons, and we keep comparing him to Matt Ryan (the guy Ozzie tried to trade UP for) when Ryan was the only qb in that class anyone thought was NFL ready. In fact, most draft guys though Brian Brohm and Chad Henne were more prepared than Flacco to start in the NFL. The fact that he is where he is and he still makes correctable errors i.e. problems reading certain coverages, holding the ball too long, sometimes locking in on one target and not seeing the rest of the field gives me so much hope for what he will become when he fixes those problems.

Well said, sir!

He has not peaked yet and its exciting being privileged enough to see him grow right before our eyes.

I can partially forgive Joe for missing Rice on the team's second-to-late possession considering he hit McClain in the facemask on an earlier at the goal-line but Le'Ron couldn't reel it in.

What I really wanted to talk about though was Flacco dropping around 50 f-bombs at the referees after he felt they should have thrown a flag when he was sacked and someone fell on him. The sideline reporter(forgot his name) even commented on Joe being a lot more animated during the game too. I've maintained Joe has a "quiet fire" like many great QBs through the years(not comparing their abilities) but today was proof that it can boil over.

Flacco is human, like all of us, and he hears the criticism. Every time he throws a touchdown, that's one big middle finger to all of his critics. He does everything to spite his critics, and I like that.

Flacco just beat Brees in a shootout. Nuff said.
Logical fallacy. Brees passed against our defense and flacco against NO. this doesn't make thewinner the better qb

On the replay, Flacco was already down on the ground when a second Saints defender came in and fell on top of him, also, hitting his helmet with a glancing blow. Have to admit it was odd to see Joe so fired up. I have to imagine the blow was more than glancing and something really went on there for him to be going off like that.

Because clearly you're so well versed that your post made complete sense especially with the nuff said.
Oh thanks for showing you don't know what a logical fallacy is

Agreed. I thought he was talking to an o-lineman initially when I saw him mouth the words,"...protect me...", but then he called a ref by his name, gestured for him to come over and just let the obscenities fly.

Flacco posted his 8th 100+ passer rating of the season against NO.
23 touchdowns, 8 picks, 95+ season passer rating with 2 games to go

Big Joe is elite.

Boys... each of your put your phallus away.

ZINGER!

~ Malkavian Raven

PS: Joe will always be an elite QB in my eyes. The play calling, the running by our backs and the short passing game just made one of the "top ranked defenses" in the league look like Swiss cheese.

PPS: To all the respectful Saints fans on the forums; it was a great game. Nail-biter to the end. You may not win your division, but you're still inline for the playoffs. Maybe we'll see you in Dallas come February.

That throw to Ray for the touchdown in the first quarter? That was beautiful.

Also, how about Joe getting all fired up at the ref? I loved Ray Rice's comment in the aftergame: "When you see Joe fired up, you've gotta go.... [makes faces, glances over shoulder]"

Man, today rocked.

I also had to laugh at the post game conference. Have any of you taken a look at Joe? His hair is mussed, he hasn't shaven this week. He's a blue collar QB on a blue collar team and I'm dang proud of him. He fits this team like a glove.

I think Joe is almost at that 'elite' level. Very close, imo.

The only game where Flacco had multiple interceptions was the Bengals game. Other than that, he's only thrown 4 int so far. Which is very impressive. ^_^

Yeah, 23 TD and 4 INT over the last 12 games -- that's 2 TDs every week and an INT once a month. I'd say he's doing alright. I guess an elite qb would have had 24 TD and 3 INT

Funny, but I agree with you .Joe is playing at an elite level right now.His only bad game was Cincy.

Flacco would be a heck of a Quarterback if our front line men gave him more protection! You can see it in him also. He had 2 or 3 GREAT throws yesterday!

How fitting we play the Bengals at the end of the season, when we played them the second game at the beginning of the season. It's a perfect time to see how Joe has developed, by placing him in a setting where all eyes will be on him because he's playing against the team where he had the worst game of his young career. I really want to see how Joe responds to their defense that seemingly gives him more fits than any other defense out there. Scorching that team on pace to the playoffs will give us a lot of momentum heading in. I'm a believer that he's on the cusp of being not only good, but up there with the upper echelon of QBs in the NFL.
