What's your point? The Pats also had some of the greatest defensive players in the last 15 years playing for them in addition to the most clutch kicker in Vinatieri. Can you say the same about the Ravens now? Nope.

You're wrong about that, pure and simple. Joe is not Tom Brady.
my point is coaching and tapping flacco's skills. I think flacco could have played this season for the pats in bradys spot and they would have accomplished the same things. Not to say brady is a product of coaching...but belichick can squeeze blood from a turnip.

who is michael jordan or kobe bryant without phill jackson?

You might be right but personally, I don't think so. Joe would probably be sacked less and might be a bit more productive but I highly doubt he could make some of the plays I've seen Brady make this year.

Different sport and are you serious? Phil definitely helped MJ and Bryant become great players but phenomenal athleticism and more importantly, unmatched and borderline psychotic work ethic(including some emulation on Kobe's part) made them the players there were/are.

but a lot of great player go w/o rings. I should have made it more clear...but my point is phill got them the hardware needed to be an all time great. kobe and mike couldn't get it done w/o phil jackson. Coaches help make legends by getting players rings.

So, are you saying Joe is a great player right now?

Phil was certainly instrumental in helping MJ and Kobe win titles but players still play the game and great players(which the championship Bulls and Lakers team had a good number of) can impact the game of basketball like no other sport.

As Flyn said, this is the NFL and OK teams dont go 9-4 in the NFL. We are a very good team but we have our problems like anyone else. I am one of the fans that believes most of our problems are playing way to conservative when we dont need to. Either or all we have to do is make the playoffs I can bet you most teams will not look forward to playing us there.

There are plenty of negative fans around here who will tell you we are worse than just an ok team but everyone has there opinion and only time and ourplayoff run will tell.
I really hope you are right. It would be so sad for me and my friends if we didn't even make the playoffs which the way I understand is questionable without winning against New Orleans. I just really started getting into my team when I went to a couple games and was impressed with our team. but at the same time I don't really understand football strategy that much yet I just know that we should be beating teams like the Steelers (yuck) and Patriots although Tom Brady is a doll!

this forum is pretty reactionary as we tend to post on emotions within hours of a game ending. if anything there has been constant bashing of the ravens since the steelers lost and it's a few of us that have not given up hope.

the bashing of the ravens after the steelers lost spread into "real life" causing coach harbs to say..fans are either with the ravens or against the ravens...and if they don't like it they can find another team to cheer for.

welcome to the boards!
Thank you for understanding-I am just learning so don't mind me if I ask silly questions.

I love my football team no matter what!

Wasn't stupid. We play like an average team for half a game every week it seems. But many people let the frustration get too deep ... quite a few people quit/nearly quit following us after our meltdown Monday night. But warts and all, this is still one of the best (top 5) teams in the league.

We can afford a loss to the Saints this week and we'll still make the playoffs (assuming we beat the Browns and Cincy).
Since you're new, I'll let the Brady comment slide lol

For the record I was never going to quit following the Ravens Monday Night I was just upset and thought we would lose that game for sure. I would never quit on this team entirely.

Well welcome to really being into the team as I am sure most of us are around here. We can definitely still make playoffs with a loss to NO would be harder since we would probably have to win the rest of the games to make it but I for one think we are winning out. This is normally a good time of year for the Ravens. We are one of the teams that steps it up come playoff time. Those "yucky" steelers would be another one. Dont worry though I believe we will be playing another one against the Steelers come playoff time. I think the AFC representative in the super bowl comes from our division!

Yea and as was said previously it wasn't stupid for you to say anything we slack sometimes(pretty much one half a game) but we are still an awesome football team and I personally think most of our problems come down to coaching. That means all of the coaches to not just one of them.

For those speculating, we can actually lose 2 out of these last 3 and make the playoffs, not that we want that of course!

The Ravens should make the playoffs this year as a wildcard. That should not be in doubt.
Also, they should be able to beat Steelers and Jets.
The problems then began.
The ravens have lost to playoff teams (except CinCin) and unless the coaches figure out how to overcome those same opponents they lost to in the regular season, it is unlikely that the ravens will be able to beat them in the playoffs. Which means the Ravens will lose. Saints will be a huge test for the Ravens.

And according to Harbaugh's statements, "If the fans aren't proud of us, they can root for someone else" and "We are who we are, we have to find a way to win".
On the surface these comments don't seem too out of the ordinary, but what he is saying is the fans can stuff their complaints up their *ss and there is nothing he can do to change the problems the team is having.

The Fans have a right to expect better play from the coaches and the players. There is nothing wrong with pointing out problems and discussing them.

Harbaugh's attitude is that he doesn't want to hear from the fans. So everyone on these boards have just been dissed by the coach.

This is true. I wonder how the tiebreakers look against the Colts and San Diego (KC as well I guess)

Flacco has a higher qb rating than drew brees @94

Flacco is on pace to reach 30 tds this season
Flacco is on pace to reach 4000 passing yards

He has a td/int ratio of 21/8. 4 of which were in one game.

Any other would be considered elite with those probowl caliber numbers
He would need to average 250 yards and 2.6 tds a game to reach those numbers. Very very feasible. Especially considering the remaing opponents. He will need to throw alot this sunday when playing the saints

It does get complicated especially if there are 3-way ties. Root against Chargers and Colts to create more separation. We don't want Chiefs or Jags losing their divisions and gettting into the WC mix. but, let's play it real safe and win at least 2, preferably 3 and hope the Browns can upset the Steelers.

Please, dear O-line, give little JoJo more than one second to acquire targets! It burns me to no end to see JoJo scramble on almost every play with no pocket to work from. Max protect him or use whatever means necessary to buy him more than one second. Please!

Well if he says he is, then it is time he went out and played like one beating another one that doesn't need to say it, Drew Brees! Walk the talk Joe! And you will be elite!

Man he was playing with an intensity that Texans game. Wasn't laid back at all, definitely worked for him. You've got to be determined to make that "{*** you" play on defenses sometimes.

OK, being an elite QB does not mean being one of the best 3 or 4 guys to ever play the position. It just means being one of the best in the league. Right now this league has Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers. Joe's playing better than Manning this season. Joe is good enough for how long he's been in the league. There's not a game he starts that he isn't capable of winning. He's the right fit for the Ravens.

Harbaugh's not saying there's nothing he can do about the issues the Ravens are dealing with. He is saying the fans can shove it, though, and I don't blame him. We have a right to our opinion, but how would you like it if our head coach were taking directions from fans? Do you trust the people you read in these posts to run the Ravens over Harbaugh? Do you really think it's a good idea for an NFL organization to run itself based on what the fans think? I don't.

I believe the argument last season was the same. We couldn't beat teams with winning records. Well, we went into NE and not only beat them but dominated them. Who knows what would have happened with Indy if Joe's not hurt? We did hold Manning to 20 pts.
