I'm not sure Harbaugh will enter the NFL just yet. Sure he's talking with San Fran and Miami, but I don't recall hearing him say for certain he was looking for an NFL gig. I wouldn't be surprised to see him join Luck at Stanford for another year.
Me either, when I saw Luck say he was returning, I knew Jim would most likely end up staying as well. Those 2 are like tied at the hip, if Luck would have declared Jim would have left. I think it's good Jim is going to stay, for one the way the Dolphins are treating Sparano with not firing him all while looking for a new head coach is disrespectful so whose to say Jim would be having issues and not doing what they wanted and they interview other coaches while Jim is still the head coach, the same could happen to him. I would say the 49ers would be the best for him but if he stays at Stanford another year, come 2012 there could be better openings at the Head Coaching Position in the NFL.

Here some more coaching news....

Mike Singletary to interview with the Vikings as Linebackers Coach.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/06/mike-singletary-to-interview-with-vikings/
Singletary likely would be the linebackers coach in Minnesota. He was fired by the 49ers after a Week 16 loss to the Rams.
More Vikings news... Josh McDaniels is scheduled to meet with the Vikings as well... though it's unsure what position that is for.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/06/report-josh-mcdaniels-to-meet-with-vikings/
ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that McDaniels is scheduled to meet Friday with Vikings coach Leslie Frazier about an undefined assistant coaching job. (Very likely the offensive coordinator position.)
Yeah... that should be interesting.

I'm shocked.... that Sparano would even want to stay after still being the head coach while his team was looking for a new one... I thought he would want to leave. Watching the Breaking news of it now, and JLC says the Dolphins will be looking for a QB in Free Agency or via trade.

IDK thats a lot of loot to pass up. Luck has the possibility of not getting paid or playing next year because of the CBA.

Cant see much of a reason for him to stay. He's taken that team about as far as it can go.

Jim seems to enjoy where he is right now, he's having a good time with a winning program and top college quarterback. Sticking around to add another (hopefully) winning and successful season before making the jump to the pros isn't a bad idea. Not to mention, he doesn't strike me as the type of guy who's going to be swayed due to money alone. He'll "go pro" eventually, I'm just not sure it's this year.

First Jim Harbaugh, and as of tomorrow Ron Rivera may become the 2nd New Head Coach of the off-season. This comes to no surprise as Adam Schefter reported on Sports Center that he was brought back for a second interview, and the last coach they brought back for a second interview, John Fox.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/10/ron-rivera-may-be-announced-as-panthers-coach-tuesday/
All signs continue to point towards Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera becoming the next Panthers coach. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune says an announcement is expected on Tuesday.
Also other Coaching News from Schefter's Twitter:
"And the sense around the league is that Rams OC Pat Shurmur is the favorite to land Cleveland's HC job."

Saints said the Broncos have requested permission to interview DC Gregg Williams for Denver's HC job.

RT @JustinCasias Is Bill Cowher not coming back to the NFL this season? ... Not this season. But I'm told to fully expect him in 2012.

Former Panthers HC John Fox will interview for the Broncos HC job on Monday.(Note: Due to the weather, the interview with Fox is rescheduled for Wednesday.)
It's official, Ron Rivera will be the next coach of the Panthers. Should really help improve their defense even more now, even though it's their offense that needs some help. I'm interested to see how losing Rivera affects the Chargers' defense.

Yep, Rivera has already said the Panthers will stay in the 4-3, which is a change since most 4-3 teams have converted to a 3-4, which it should be interesting to see how the Texans convert to a 3-4. Even though the offense needs help I think with Ron being a defensive mind and the way Nick Fairley dominated in the BCS National Title Game, I can see Fairley being the 1st Pick in the 2011 Draft and be selected to be the center piece of the Panthers defense for years to come.

The Browns have their new Head Coach! The newest Head Coach of the Cleveland Browns....... Former Rams OC Pat Shurmur is slated to take over the reigns of the Cleveland Browns!

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81da3d1a/article/rams-oc-shurmur-all-set-to-take-browns-headcoaching-job
The Cleveland Browns have completed their interview process and are in talks with St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to become their head coach, league sources said Wednesday.
Should be interesting to see what he does, but I wonder if Mike will can him after 2 seasons like he did Mangini and look for a new Head Coach.

Nah, Pat is Mike's man. He's not an early scapegoat like Mangini was.

Yeah, Pat will have a minimum of 3 years to right that ship, although that's going to be difficult with us and the Steelers in the division... their situation reminds me of the Orioles and how we have to look up at the Sox and Yanks (and Rays to an extent) every season in the AL East

Kind of "meh" on the hire but he's Holmgren's guy and him and Heckert worked together in Philly so it means they're all on the same page. Looks like Rob Ryan will be out as well and thankfully our current OC is interviewing with other teams because he knows he's done.

ESPN mobile alert JUST received:

The Broncos hired John Fox
A bit surprising, I thought they were leaning away from him. But good for John Fox. He'll be a good fit in Denver.

Yeah I'm surprised by this, but I wonder if this means with John Fox taking over and him being a 4-3 guy that Denver will switch back to the 4-3 since they had transitioned to the 3-4 when they fired Shananan. It would be a nice change of pace where everyone switches to the 3-4, and teams go back to the 4-3, and I also think Cleveland may go to the 4-3 as well since Mangini is gone and Holmgren is a 4-3 guy.

They might as well. They need to pretty much start from scratch with that front 7. It's appalling.

Browns have a rookie HC and a young QB. If they draft like a AJ Green. They could make a push to be 8-8.

I would love for us to get a sick WR but drafting a WR is so hard.. the better number of them just wind up being big time divas and it's so much easier to find a quality one later in the draft.

I think it'd be hard for them to land AJ Green with Cincinnati in front of them. Truth be told, I think Cleveland has a pretty decent receiving corp, although the effectiveness of it will largely depend upon how their guys continue to progress. Massaquoi and Robiskie have some upside, Cribbs just isn't much of a receiving option, in my opinion.

I'm surprised Fox found a home so quickly.

I'd say they need a true number one target still. Julio Jones would work well for them.

Some Coordinator news....

JLC of NFL Network just said on Gameday Morning/Afternoon that Rob Ryan is set to become the new Defensive Coordinator in Dallas.

He also said that Josh McDaniels is in St. Louis about being the offensive coordinator for the Rams. The odd thing about that.... the Rams would have the OC who helped put together that amazing offensive season by the Patriots in 2007, and you also have the Defensive Coordinator who shut down that offense in SB 42 on the same staff.... interesting.

1. Cowboys to hired ex-Browns DC Rob Ryan as their own DC Coordinator

2. Rams expected to hire former Bronos HC Josh McDaniels as their OC. Actually McDaniels is in St. Louis right now.

Apparently, Mike Singletary is heading to Minnesota as their linebackers and assistant coach, according to NFL.com. Also, Adam Schefter is reporting that Tom Cable is heading to Seattle as their offensive line and assistant head coach.

Tom Cable landed on his feet as he is now the Assistant Head Coach/O-Line Coach in Seattle.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/18/tom-cable-lands-in-seattle/
the Seahawks announced they’ve hired Cable as assistant head coach/offensive line coach.

It is a nice move for Seattle and ensures the team will get the zone blocking scheme Pete Carroll envisioned a year ago.
Lots of going ons today.

Cable to Seattle is an interesting move. Doesn't really seem like a Carroll type guy. But a guy like that will certainly help the O-Line.

Singletary taking a major step down. They have some good linebackers in Minny. Singeltary and Frazier should be a daunting pair.

Apparently former Bills head coach DIck Jauron will be the next DC for the Browns.

Also interesting in the AFC North, it seems Chilly and our old friend Marvin Lewis met at Paul Brown Stadium to "talk football" before they went to a local restaurant for dinner together. The Bengals' current OC is still under contract, so does this foreshadow a possible termination and hiring of Chilly?
