About two weeks ago I was told by a fellow resident about how Google was designing and releasing a laptop using their new Chrome OS. It's all Google - designed, programmed and built by and for Google. The best part... only 60,000 models were built and were being given away for free to individuals in education/programming/development who can use and give reports on how the laptop performed on a professional level.

Being the excited little researcher I am I applied and Friday I received a phone call with a recorded message saying I was selected for the pilot program and should expect the beta laptop in the mail shortly (apparently some people received emails, some a recorded message like mine, some a live person on the phone, some received nothing and got the laptop in the mail). I'm not exactly sure what "shortly means"... but I guess we'll see.

Apparently the laptop is in heavy beta and I'll be required to report issues/complaints and send in detailed messages with my experiences with the laptop. If/when the laptop goes public I'll be able to exchange my beta laptop for a new one at no charge.

Good stuff, man. I've read mixed reviews about the laptop thus far from blogs and reviewers who already received their beta models, but at least this is another entry in the marketplace. The most consistent thing I've read is that at least Google was conscious about every decision they made, rather than merely slapping their brand onto a laptop with their OS. I'm most curious as to how the keyboard and touchpad is, especially with the design changes made to the keyboard.

The video I made was pretty funny. I showed my Macbook Pro 13, Macbook Pro 15, Macbook Air, I-Pad, I-Pod.... and my Droid 1 and Droid 2. Then I said, "Why do I use all mac products but yet I use a Android phone? BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANY GOOGLE LAPTOPS!!!". Then I went on and talked for 5 minutes about what I do, etc.

I was surprised I was selected to be honest with you.

Going to? lol ...
Everything Google touches turns into gold, or so it would seem ... awesome company; better them than someone else.
