Anquan Boldin

Anyone notice how much Boldin comes up big for us in big games we've had this season? He's been quiet against middle of the pack teams but shows up and has a good to great game in the big games we have.

Jets: 7 Receptions, 110 Yards
Bengals: 5 Receptions, 35 Yards (Flacco had a very bad game then so that ended up in Boldin having a quiet day)
Browns: 8 Receptions, 142 Yards, 3 TDs
Steelers Week 4: 7 Receptions, 68 yards
Patriots: 4 Receptions, 63 Yards, TD
Falcons: 5 Receptions, 50 yards, TD
Steelers Week 13: 5 Receptions, 118 Yards, TD

Those were all fairly big games for us. Division games speaking for themselves, Falcons game for #1 record in the NFL, Patriots for getting back to #1 record in the NFL (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).

Just something I've noticed and really appreciative for. Hope Boldin keeps this up in the postseason for us when we'll really need it.

he's really been the only consistant player on the Offence this year, Go Boldin

Heap has been having a career season, and Mason has been doing well.

We have to do a better job of getting him the ball every week. I understand that some teams try and take him away, but great offenses usually still find ways to get the ball to their playmakers.

Don't get me started on Clayton! I'm still bitter about his dropped pass last year on 4th down against the Patriots. Boldin is much better and he is so adorable! :)

IMO the Ravens need to get back to their old philosophy of football. Ground and Pound.

Where Boldin makes a difference is in the Red Zone. Pound the rock, play solid "D" and use that upgrade at WR for the big plays.

This, as well as he's performed all season he needs to be utilized even more. Dude is our difference maker on offense, its a crime when he only has a couple of catches in a game until we have to go spread to tie the game in the 4th quarter.

The only problem is, with the offensive line in flux and the weapons that the team has, as well as the success of the passing game and the additional game film that opposing teams have on Ray Rice and Willis McGahee in this system, the Ravens aren't built for ground-and-pound anymore.

I think it's more of Joe looking his way in those games. Anquan plays big every game but he isn't getting the targets. This is why Cam needs to let Joe off the leash.

Exactly. Boldin has only been quiet when he hasn't been targeted.

Boldin = my second favorite WR in the NFL.

Actually it's not a crime imo because when teams take Boldin away it frees things up for Mason, Housh, Heap, Rice and Stallworth. I'm just glad that Joe is good enough and makes smart enough decisions to spread the ball around.

As mentioned before Boldin has a nack for showing up huge in big games for us and that will continue. However when people roll coverage to him, Flacco shouldn't try to force the ball to him just to get him involved.

Case and point, the Housh 58 yard TD in the Panthers game. That play was intended for Housh to be a decoy. He was running a clear out route that was suppose to pull the deep corner and the safety down field with him and free up room for Boldin. However the safety was focused on Boldin and that allowed Housh to get behind him.

Flacco could have played it safe and went to Boldin for about a 15-20 yard gain, but he recognized the over play by the safety and made the adjustment to take advantage of it.

A lot of what Q has done for this team hasn't showed up in the stat sheets, but i'm sure the players and coach are fully aware of it.

Another reason I'm loving the addition of Q is so far, he's stayed healthy.

I remember reading so many articles after the trade that said he'd definitely make an impact but questioned what would the Ravens do offensively when, not if, he missed some games. I'm glad that hasn't been an issue.

I won't say I've been satisfied with how Cam has chosen to get him the ball but tha been discussed numerous times already.

Agreed. The one game of the year when I'll root against AJ.

Boldin rocks!
I wish there were more throws his way. Can he not get clear? He has the hands of gold to actually HOLD on to the ball, something we have never had in our offensive secondary.
Let's see what will happen next...
Love for my :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

Q is a machine and needs the ball more.

By far my favourite receiver in the NFL, probably because I've met him.

On a side note, does anyone know what he benches? His arms are freakin' HUGE.

Mason's TD drop against the Steelers was worse than Clayton's drop. We at least redeemed ourselves by beating the Pats in the playoffs.
Like others have said, teams game plan for either rice, mason, and Q. When they focus on Q, Mason has a big game and vise-versa.

I was listening to Boldin on the radio last Tuesday night. He seems to be a good guy. I think that he really wants to win. Just keep throwing the ball to him and he will continue to produce. If they double him, then it will open up other receivers to have a big game. What a great acquisition for the Ravens. He'll be a star for a few more years, so enjoy the ride.

Yea the main part to me is the health thing, i never doubted his ability as a WR(just all around football player really), heck i never doubted his ability to stay healthy. Guy has been my favorite WR for a few years now. Not saying he is the best but man is he just fun to watch or what?! Anyways I cant wait to see him in the playoffs.

Feels good to break the silence i have been in since the draft really :).

I know it sounds like I have a little crush on Boldin but I'd just like to point out how much I love seeing him pluck the ball out of the air. He rarely body catches and his hands are sooo reliable. It's exactly how a WR should catch.

I have a lot of football man crushes, but surprising Boldin isn't one of them. Ed Reed, Andre Johnson, Cameron Wake would be my faves.
