PFW Billy Cundiff Article

I just wanted to share this Pro Football Weekly article I came across on Cundiff.

Link

The man is truly having a stellar season and it's good to see him some getting recognition for it outside of games.

Here's hoping he gets more kick-off opportunities and breaks the touchback record.

Yeah he is amazing this season(like i said a million of times) i believe he will beat the touchback record. I think the ravens should give him a shot a trying the record for the longest field goal at the Houston game. I also like how he is helping out in the commmunity as well. he ahs a camp you know click this link. that is his youtube channel. I sending him a letter about his accomplishments and also asking him to sign my hat, that i won on here.

What's remarkable is not just his amount of touchbacks, but the percent. He doesn't get as many kickoff opportunities as other players, but he still racks up more. 58.6% of them go for touchbacks. About 1.5 times as good as the runner up Janikowski. Incredible.

How many does he need to break the record?
Record's 40. Only 7 more!

It's pretty incredible to read his story. He was a journeyman, all over the place, and he was even out of a job for a while. Many people would have just moved on after being rejected so many times, but he just trained harder. I really started liking him after last season, and when we brought in Shayne Graham I was worried (a history of shanks in clutch situations isn't something you can just shake off). Thankfully, Cundiff outperformed him in training camp with his kickoffs, and he began to show Ravens fans what I sensed since the end of last season; he has a strong mental makeup, and his work ethic has been jolted by years of basically being told "you're not good enough." Turns out he's uniquely talented as well.

How ironic is it that so many years we wasted an additional roster spot on a guy who's only job was to kick the ball deep yet rarely ever did. Now almost as an afterthought we bring in Cundiff last season and he is a beast at everything. Awesome!

I'm still looking for him to nail a huge game winning FG easily to make me feel totally comfortable though heading into the playoffs.

Personally, I would have sent Cundiff in to kick the 52 yarder for the tie against the Steelers. I know, it was cold and windy and our drive was rolling right along and while I like Flacco in the comeback roll, sometime you gotta hand the keys to the Ferrari to the TOUCHBACK KID!

Unfortunately, we went for it on 4th down, Flacco flubbed the throw, and now our playoff future is on the rocks. Oh, what a big game against the Texans.

He's going to get the record, and I think he'll get close Monday night, as the Ravens should put up some points against the worst ranked pass defense in the NFL, giving Cundiff touchback opportunities.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Anyway, I wouldn't try to attempt a 50 yard field goal in cold temperature with swirling winds reaching to about 25mph. That's just what I think.

I think hes a Lock for the pro bowl, and of course Sam Koch too.
Not exactly. Last time I heard, he was 7th in voting. He isn't exactly the name that pops up immediately when you ask the casual fan who the top kickers are in the league today. He's just not much of a household brand.

EDIT: by him, I mean Cundiff. No idea on Koch though.

I just had a vision; the Ravens will win the Super Bowl on a last second, record-breaking FG by Cundiff. 65 yards, he just touchbacks it through the uprights.

Yeah, l love how our answer to the kicker question was rejected by 32 teams...until we changed our mind. Now he is putting up numbers that would make him a pro bowler if he ever got the credit he was due. Both him and Koch should be no brainers...why aren't they in the eyes of the NFL?

When it comes to kickers and punters fan voting is largely based on name recognition

Cundiff did that for me too! Although it wasn't game-winning
And Cundiff has been great. He is one of the few guys I would be comfortable saying have been very consistent. But team MVP definitely not. He forces teams to start at the 20, or shorter when they're dumb enough to return, and kicks short field goals since our offense always stalls within/around the 20

3 more touchbacks for Cundiff! I think he's at 37 now, just four more for the record.
4 more in 3 games? lol! he's gonna pass it by a long shot
