Do Steelers Bring Out The Worst In Fans?

20 posts in this topic

Is it me or do the Steelers bring out the worst in us as Raven fans? Are we more critical of them after a loss and praise them more after a win?

Not so much just against the Steelers, just whenever you have an ugly loss that you know should have been won.

Losses to the Pats bring out the worst in terms of our defense.

Losses to the Steelers bring out the worst in terms of our offense.

It's the greatest rivalry in football, so emotions generally run high during the week. When you lose a heartbreaker like that, it gets nasty sometimes.

Nope, it's the Ravens themselves. Last year they could have beaten Pittsburgh at home if it wasn't for that dropped TD by Mason and numerous dumb penalties to take away TD drives. Then just this year when the Steelers were very weakened and the Ravens took their foot off the gas and let the Steelers come back and win the game.

The Ravens can matchup and beat the Steelers. It's when they shoot themselves in the foot and lose the game on a big play that brings out the worst in fans after tough close loses.

Our board turns into a monkey cage with poo flingers when a saints game is coming up. We are not modded as tightly as you are here so it can get sort of embarrassing to see fellow fans make fun of Katrina. I can talk smack and flame with the best of them but I have standards.

Any loss is a sock in the gut. But some can make the biggest homer look to see if the sky is falling. We hate, and I mean hate, the Eagles. After our loss to them this year we were the most miserable SOBs on the planet.

That's what makes this board so great.

I have to agree with this.

Im not quite sure its the rivalry factor, or the fact that we lost the game. I beleive its how we lost the game. 2nd and five from the forty you have the ball 4 min left. And nobody on the opposite team can block Suggs. And you throw the ball. Wow really, mind boggling. We got out coached as we often do in big games. We lost to the Patriots, Cincy, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and should have lost to the Bills. Really have we beat a good team all year? We are masterful at beating the teams your suppose to beat. But as far as beating elite teams my confidence is dwindling. Im wondering if Hue Jackson not being here has anything to do with that.

I wouldn't say the Steelers bring out the worst, I'd say it's the majority of Pittsburgh's fans.

For example, a guy I went to high school with said he was going to the Pittsburgh game on sunday. So I asked him what section he was in. Further, I said even though I hate all the black and yellow, Heinz Field is nice in that you have a good view no matter what. What happens? Some guy who I do not know and does not know me goes:
"no one cares when u went u dumb*** classless ravens fan f***" (censored obviously for the forums).

Then when I commented on his brilliant way to represent himself and that at least I'm able to show respect and construct a sentence without having to swear, I get blasted back about how I must be confused because I live near Pittsburgh yet I like Baltimore. And how the Steelers do no need "to kill people or sell drugs to prove their hard or beat their chest like a gorilla yard ape b****** that they are".

It's people like this that ruin football for everyone, and give all Steeler fans a bad rap. It still amuses me that whenever ignorant Steeler fans talk trash on the Ravens the only thing they can bring up is the decade old Ray Lewis schtick.

So no, I wouldn't say the Steelers bring out the worst, it's some of those fans of theirs who can take a win gracefully.

I probably should have included that in the question. Losing to the Steelers is bad enough but their fans(most) love to gas up the fires afterwards. Losing to the Pats and Falcons they way they did was bad enough but this one sickened me more because of the way Steeler Fan rolls!!

This is it (for both sides) in a nutshell.

It depends on the loss... I actually watch Steelers when Ravens aren't playing. I don't really root for the Steelers but I like watching them so I have no real hate for them. I just don't like losing key games every year to our biggest rivalry. If it was the Browns I would feel the same way just losing big time games to our division rivalry makes me a little unhappy very much so when we have a shot to make a run at the superbowl.

The problem with the Steelers is their fan base--not the Pitt natives but the bandwaggoners that come around and talk smack when they win but are no where to be found after they lose and the annoy the Ravens fan base so bad that they turn on each other AND the Steeler fans. I have never see another fan base do that to another.
