A Question On #52

Ogden doesnt deserve an honor like that? He's probably going to be our first HOFer. He's been here as long as Lewis and has had the same impact as Lewis. Lewis lead a record setting defense. Ogden came *this close* to anchoring a record setting offensive line, during J.Lew's 2000 yard season. Because of Ogden even when our running backs sucked we have a solid running game.

Oh dont get me wrong Ogden is every bit as deserving. I am not implying that he doesnt.

But like some one has said Ray Lewis is the face of the Baltimore RAVENS. On any given Sunday at M&T stadium I would dare say fans wearing 52 out number any other number two to one. ( maybe )

It is more than just stats in my opinion. Ray is an icon for the RAVENS. Its a P.R. thing.

Its true fans would rather be wearing that 52 jersey... But who helped solidify the OL? Ray Lewis didnt do it.. Ogden did. He went up against top notched players on his side of the ball.. Ofcourse he had his troubles sometimes. But most of the time he held whoever he was supposed to. The one person I know he had trouble with but still kept him on lockdown a couple times was Dwight Freeney. Show me someone who stopped Freeney more times compared to how many times Freeney got to the QB.... Name a LT that did that as well as Ogden. Ogden does deserve just as much if not the same thing Ray would get if he retired.

Hold on, lets be fair for a second. 1) people dont buy lineman jersey's. I dont even know if they make them. 2) Ray Lewis has been around since the begining. Of course you will see more Lewis jersey's just based on pure longevity. There are some fans who own more then one jersey but realistically most people only own one and unless they out grow it they are still wearing the jersey they bought years ago. I still see people wearing Peter Boulware jersey's when I go to the stadium.

Well.. Im not sure I want to see the numbers retired anymore. Imagine seeing someone else playing that number with the same intensity Ray did? As well as that same stout OL guy like Ogden? I dont think I want to see the numbers retired now.

think of it this way..... having a Player of Ray's caliber play on Our Team (The Ravens) play for 1 organization for this long, and contribute so so much, and seeing how he's often referred to as the "heart and soul" of the Ravens Defense and team (for that matter).....it seems only fitting to have something happen to his "# 52"
