T-$izzle

28 posts in this topic

I am still puzzled as to what is taking Ozzie and the rest of the front office so long to sign T-Sizzle to a lucrative, long-term deal. I realize that the draft has taken priority the past couple of weeks and that the grievance hearing over his Franchise Tag designation is still TBD but he is one of our best pass-rushers, if not THE best pass rusher we have, and he won't be 26 until October! Forget the Franchise Tag, just lock him up Oz!

I think everything is on hold pending the outcome of the complaint filed through the NFLPA about whether he's a LB or DE.

they need to come up with a new position, a Linebacker End, or a Line End that way we could sign him to any deal and he would be the highest paid in his position because he would be the only one!! lock him up already!!

maybe Suggs is what's holding things up. After all he has said he would like to play in AZ...

Here's the thing. If both sides really want a long term done and the goal is the long term then a one year franchise tag wouldn't be holding up either side because it would be negated by the long term deal...

Also remember that with our cap situation we may not have the money right now to sign him to the type of deal he wants. Once the season gets closer and we can free up some cap space we may lock him up to a long term deal.

Signing him would IMPROVE our cap situation. The franchise tag is a huge hit on our cap.

That statement was taken out of context. It would be extremally unprofessional to say something like "absolutly not, I would never play for Arizona", when asked whether he would consider playing there if he became a free agent. He has stated many times that he wants to play for the Ravens.

Exactly BirdFan, which is why Franchising him really doesn't make any sense, financially or otherwise =/

I think he wants to play for Arizona also. His family lives there he went to ASU. Ofcourse he is going to say he wants to stay a Raven, because he is a Raven.

But money talks, he wants DE money instead of an OLB money.

I wish Suggs wouldnt ask for DE type money. Just sign a long term deal or something. Unless he doesnt know that the team is low on Cap space..

I am mixed on this one. I am all for guys trying to make their money but I am also not big on greed. Suggs is not a defensive end and Oz has a great track record of paying top dollar to his best players, in some cases making them amongst the highest paid in the league. In case our current cap situation doesnt tell that story. When Suggs finally quits this crap, he'll get top dollar from us, there is no doubt about it. It wont be the 70 million dollars that Jared Allen and Freeny got but he will def be one of the highest if not the highest paid OLB in the NFL.

Actually that's not 100% correct. It's still based on the contract he signs on if it improves the cap situation.

LOL. He went into details about how he wants to play there because he's from there. It wasn't the being professional thing it was the "eventually I'd like to play in my home state" thing that made it newsworthy so please don't patronize me with the "it was taken out of context" bs. He, like every other pro athelete out there, always claims to be misquoted when what they said comes back to him and this is your attempt to do the same for him....

Again, if somebody asks you "Hey would like to play for such and such organization if you become a free agent?" are you going to say "no, I'd never play for such and such organization?" No your not. Of course he could have just not answered the question but that would have probably been seen as a diss of the organization. Its not as big a deal as some people are saying it is. The media can make me running a stop sign seem news worthy. Not that I run stop signs or anything.

no wonder why athletes are crying about being misquoted, there's always someone to believe it when they want to take back what they said...

No, some of us just are not as cynical, as others.

Stupid media and the misquotes... I think they do it on purpose just to get more attention.

You don't think they do that type of stuff just to have something to talk about? Look at what happened with Stover when his email got leaked. Things like that and what happened with Suggs don't come up during the season its only now because there isn't as much to report on now.

Strangely I haven't heard Suggs' quote brought up outside of this board anymore because I think even the media know that it was just crap they made up to have something to talk bout...

And now they have a factual story about a player wanting out to cover in Cinci.

Yep a real player wanting out of their team is far better than one the media made-up for themselves.

they might be waiting to see haw some of our back up guys do or how our draft pick does before we give him a deal worth 30 million dollars so be patient and see what happens this year

Hey... Maybe Barnes will be able to take Suggs spot on the roster. Hey may very well be that OLB that we see in Suggs.

apparently a linebacker/DE hybrid is called an 'elephant'.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3378373

Carroll and Holt brought back the "Elephant" -- a hybrid end/linebacker position --

PS. the story is about some random USC 'elphant'. It's just there to show you I wasn't making it up.

i think a majority of this whole Suggs deal is not necessarily Suggs himself, but his agent. Suggs said that he just wants to get back on the field and play football and get to the super bowl. which is exactly where his focus should be at... like Ray Ray said..."if you start thinking about the other stuff, then that will interfere with your play on the field" so

again... this is mostly due to his agent.
