It's Clear: The Ravens Need A Thorough Thrashing To Get "it"

Hehe! It didn't happen after NE, CIN, or ATL now did it?
The offense hasn't imrpoved much, if any, improvement since then but everyone who got in front the mic was visibly upset about how Steelers game played out. Personally, I don't know if we'll the offensive philosophy change much but again, at this point in the season, asking for a blowout just to shake things up is moronic.

Not only is this thread completely ridiculous to suggest that the Ravens need to lose badly at a time where we cannot afford any more losses... but these "It Clear: . . ." threads are going out of style... fast. It was humorous at first, now people are just overdoing it.

So I suppose you'd be okay with us sleepwalking through more quarters of football, limping into the playoffs, and back home in Baltimore before the MLK holiday?
Obviously not. Me disagreeing with your wish for this team doesn't suggest I'd be okay with an early play-off exit either.

The fact is, you have zero way to prove without a doubt the Ravens getting blown out would help them. And considering a loss would likely close the gap between the Ravens and other play-offs hopefuls behind them in the standings, you're theory looks even more stupid.

Okay, I get what you're saying, so let me ask a question - since what I suggested is totally off the table to you, what do you propose the organization do?

I would actually listen to what you had to say if you didn't find the need to be a condesending ***.

I get what you're saying but at 11-5 we're pretty much guaranteed a spot. All of the other wildcard teams (save NYJ) have already lost 6 games. I just don't want this team (OC!) sleepwalking through a PO game.
11-5 guarantees nothing; ask the 2008 Patriots, who missed the playoffs and were the first 11-win team to do so.

There are other ways to motivate. Another loss doesn't have to be one of them. For all these worries about going into the postseason flat, look how soon we've all forgetten last year, when the Ravens endured a close loss to the Steelers and then nearly let the lowly Raiders come back to win in the final regular season game, only to completely decimate the Patriots in their own stadium in the Wild Card round.

I swear, it's like losing to the Steelers suddenly triggered the end of the world and people think this team is a completely different team than the one that had a great showing against a good Bucs squad only a week ago. 8-4 doesn't mean the sky is falling. Inconsistent play does not condemn anyone to a playoff loss or missing the postseason since games still have to be played. No Super Bowl Champion is perfect and no roster, no matter how talented, is entitled to anything.

Yes, there's all these expectations and all these Pro Bowlers and all these other factors at play -- but that's, again, all on paper. Bottom line, does the team not have 8 wins? Have they not had 4 close losses? Have they not gotten the job done this season more often than not? Are they not in playoff positioning? Until the regular season is decided, there is not one reason to panic or suddenly act like this team is a bad team when the record says otherwise.

Too bad ED20 is probably one of the most knowledgeable, "approachable" (for lack of a better term) posters on here. Just because he's disagreeing with you, refuting your statement that he must want the Ravens to exit the playoffs early, and stating why he disagrees with both your comments does not make him condescending.

Watch Suggs post game conference. He looked as if they lost the super bowl. Lack of heart is not what this team lacks, they just don't use their brain in the 2nd half of games.

11-5 would guarantee a PO this year because everyone looking for a wild card berth has already lost 6 games (except NY who will probably slide into a spot).

I don't really take the TB game as a 'great win' because they haven't beat a PO team this year just like we haven't.

It actually did help the Falcons but it was much earlier in the season. The eagles embarrassed, no, thoroughly embarrassed us and since then we have stopped going so conservative with the lead. We also had no sense of urgency before that game to put up points even when behind. Since then we are back to putting up points early in the game again and our offense has started to click.

However, you are sort of out of time now. You can make small adjustments but to change up an entire game plan would probably hurt more than it helps. The other thing is we already had the plays in the playbook we just weren't using them. We, also, already knew from Ryan's rookie campaign he was able to take it all on his shoulders, read the defenses, and run the no-huddle (even though we stopped letting him do it for nearly a year and a half for some inexplicable reason). I am not saying Flacco is not ready for it, he probably is, but you are so close now, is it worth the risk?

The one thing you can learn from the pats and the eagles who both have very winning coaches is that you play like you are behind even when you are ahead. I am not sure we have learned that lesson yet but we are certainly on the right track now.

His logic doesn't make him condescending. His usage of words like "stupid" and "moronic" make him so.

I stand corrected if only because those games were put out of my mind as soon as they happened lol.

Make adjustments try to put together 60 minutes of complete football every game they play. In the off-season, whether it's after the Super Bowl or play-off game, evaluate and continue to build a perennial contender.

It's a generic but that's all a fan can really ask for right now.

No need for insults buddy. I've criticized your idea but haven't attacked you personally.

Thanks for the kind words ATD.

And the thing is if you miss the sb again this year your coaches will have to explain why which will have the same affect as taking a big beatdown.

Exactly. Teams "miss the SB" every year but considering how aggressive the FO was in off-season in acquiring talent and the obvious talent that was already here, some heads could roll in the evaluating process if this team doesn't win a SB.

Some people sure know how to make an impression. Should this topic say "needed"?

If you think you're mad about the outcome of the game, imagine how the people whose livelihoods depend on it feel..

Maybe this huge loss is what Cam needed to "get it". However I won't get my hopes up.

It's possible but not probable, we've suffered losses before at Cam's hand. Harbaugh said, about as viciously as he can at a presser, that he wasn't happy with the play-calls. Who knows?

You guys definitely beefed up the roster. I know we made a play for Boldin.

It all works out in the end. You either get to the bird bowl this year where we unfortunately beat you (heh) or you don't and changes are made that will help you next year.

I'd say Harbs and company are probably on the slightly warmer seats than Falcons coaches just because you were a more complete team when you drafted Flacco. Considering we are rebuilding and still need some pieces I give our coaches another year before their seats warm up if we don't make the super bowl. I think they probably got some calls after the Eagles games though. We looked so stupid in that game.

I haven't given up hope for our bird bowl. I think you stand a good chance even if you end up as a wildcard just because you have a good defense that will play lights out in the playoffs. Of the two teams I think we need HFA more than you. We might do it as a wildcard but our defense still needs work and you really need a good defense to make a run on the road.
