Merged: McDaniels as new OC?

Hell yeah. Dude made Orton look like an MVP. He would be a be huge upgrade over Cam, and Harbs can keep him in check in terms of running the ball.

I would love to have JMcD as our OC. Imagine what he could do with Flacco with all the weapons he has to throw too.

What does this mean for Orton? I mean McDaniels traded for him and made him his QB....
Orton will be a good pickup for someone in the off-season. My thing is, what happens to Tebow.... maybe Jacksonville can trade for Tebow now and still get him haha.

We have a franchise QB and a Pro Bowl WR.. He likes to trade those :P
Fixed :P

Come on guys! Cam Cameron developed Drew Brees for crying out loud! Brees was on his way to being dropped from the Chargers before Cam took over the offense.

Fact is our offensive line gets pushed around. Have you ever seen a good offense with a leaky offensive line? No!

Tom Terrific has a brick wall for a line. Flacco gets pressure when they only rush 3 linemen. How can Cam mount an attack with that?

Considering, Cam has done a great job. He's developed Flacco from a rookie out of Delaware State, a real breading ground for elite NFL quarterbacks, into an often times, and don't think defenses don't know this, accurate and powerful passer. Flacco didn't throw one pick to the MIGHTY Steeler defense and Troy, the boy, Polamalu.

We just don't have the horses up front which has been a familiar theme with the Ravens. They keep letting them go. Centers Mitchel, Brown and Rabach. Tackle Pashos.

Ravens could have signed free agent left tackle Jason Peters or traded up to draft Ryan Clady. Cris Kemoeatu is now starting at guard for the Steelers and was on our roster at one time.

Ravens have the best coaching staff in the NFL. They just need more talented offe nsive linemen. Do something. Anything.

ok if this guy is such an offensive wizard how come he got fired?
Such terrible logic, good offensive coordinator =/= good head coach. Not to mention that Cam Cameron was in the same boat when we got him.

Bring him in LOL.
Just Joking. Doesnt Belichick call all the plays in new england?
Bill O'Brien calls offensive plays

But I'd love to bring McDaniels in instead of Cam Cameron. As long as he has nothing to do with personnel decision, it would be a fantastic hire

McDaniels' system seemed to do wonders for Matt Cassel, who hadn't played a meaningful role since high school. But how much of that was the system and how much was Bellichick's own genius in drafting great players and/or calling the offense, I don't know. If anything, I'd wait to see if Norv Turner is available at the end of the season (unlikely, but if he is I think he's a much better option). I like Cam Cameron, but at times I really don't undestand what his philosophy is. I'd heard he liked big, strong armed qbs throwing to big receiving targets. Why aren't Dickson and Pitta used more? Surely he remembers what it was like for the Chargers to go 14-2. If memory serves, that was also the year that LT was MVP. So, he has to see wht having a superstar running back and monster run game (Rice, our 3-headed monster) can do for a team. Why doesn't he try to run the ball more on tough defenses, especially when the run seems to be effective?

I'm not Cam's biggest fan, but to change the OC this late in the season when we are still pushing for playoffs would mess things up pretty badly. They gotta stick with what they have right now and hopefully Cam has learned that a 7 point lead isn't enough.

A little off topic, but I was watching the Oakland game and I feel kinda bad that the Raven's let Hue Jackson go, the play calling seemed very good that game and he adapted to what was working, would have been nice to see what he could have done here, but Cam's our OC and it's too late now this season to change that.

McDaniel's is just the man needed for the job. He would help Flacco bloom into a Tom Brady type QB a lot quicker. Look at what he has done with Kyle Orton for crying out loud! The Ravens need to learn how to play 60 minutes of football and they will storm their way to the Super bowl.

GO RAVENS!

Amen.

McD was the play caller for the 07 Pats (highest scoring offense ever), 08 Pats (Matt Cassel story) and also took the reins on the majority of offensive play calls for the Broncos when he was HC (turned Orton in to a beast).

It'd never happen, but I'd faint if we cut Cam tomorrow and signed McD. Phew. He's a beast of an OC.

Can't really change an entire offense after 12 games.... otherwise heck yeah.

Honestly, if Billick had the weapons we have now instead of Boller and Co., he may still have a job. He knows how to utilize talent at the skill positions; he never was given any with which to work.

This, all I've heard from Oakland fans is praise for Hue Jackson........................................

Fml. Flacco liked him better than Cam Cameron too

If McDaniels was such a good OC, how did he not recognize Peyton Hillis is a better RB than Knowshon Moreno or Correll Buckhalter?

Apparently he caught peyton hillis macking on his wife a few times

That was partly his fault for his poor drafting of those positions. Kyle Boller, Yamon Figurs, Travis Taylor, Devard Darling, Mark Clayton, Demetrius Williams, and a handful of others come to mind.

Some poor FA additions didn't really help him out, either.

No doubt, but I put that on Ozzie too. I know Billick had a lot of say, but Ozzie had the final word on who we draft (save for maybe Boller).

Is this a joke? The best days are over for him. He was in a great in highly supported, and well mentored patriots team that had the best cast around him. Then he heads off to broncos and totally rips the organization apart. He makes the most schezifrenic roster changes, and is possibly the worst people person in the whole NFL history. No Thanks.

As Offensive Coordinator, he wouldn't have much say in terms of personnel decisions, and he has done wonders with Kyle Orton and Brandon Lloyd this season. It's not as far-fetched an idea as you might think.

Call me a fool but we need someone like Josh in Baltimore as our Off coordinator. We need someone who plays with intensity all 4 quarters who isn't scared to take a chance, and someone who is emotional and pushes offenses down the field. Josh isn't head coach material maybe one day but not know, but he is good with offense... If they brought him in he may be able to give our O the spark it needs.

Moreno is back and Denver's running game is still below average.

Cam is hurting the team but I won't say he's losing games. We really don't know what Cam would do if he was OC here. I'd like to think it'd be better than what Cam has done but we don't know.
I would have to disagree with their running game being lackluster during Moreno's return. In the last 4 games, Knowshon has gained 381 Rushing Yards, averaging 5.44 over that period. And that's not including the 188 Receiving Yards he gained in that span. This does not excuse letting go of Hillis. That being said, I'm a huge believer in character, and his personality drives me crazy. But I couldn't say that he wouldn't know how to utilize Ray Rice properly.

In regards to the moves he's made, he gave his organization 2 1st round picks, 2 2nd round picks and 1 3rd round pick for two players, all while losing practically nothing. Kyle Orton and Brandon Lloyd are either on pace or have already broken Jay Cutler's and Brandon Marshall's career highs in Denver. I did, however, have an enormous issue with the way each situation was handled. Obviously the chances of him coming to Baltimore are almost non-existent, but if he's brought into a team with a head coach that could keep him and his emotions in check, Josh McDaniels could make that Offense that much more dangerous.

I can't watch the video, but wasn't that the very first play of the Patriots game in the playoffs where Rice took it to the house?

Let's give this kid a call

Meh, meh, meh, the usual Ravens message board 'the grass is always greener' post. Nothing to see here really. McDaniels isn't going to immediately go somewhere else..the man just got fired. He'll go home, rest up and think about his options and may make himself available next year or the year after depending on the lockout stuff going on. We stick with Cam because quite honestly, he's one of the guys that's been bringing us to the post season year after year. Gimme a break, people!

Could you imagine the offseason if he was the coach here?

Trades Joe Flacco for Derek Anderson

Trades Boldin to the Steelers for a 4th round pick

Re-signs Leron McClain then trades him to Cardinals for QB Max Hall. McClain then makes the probowl as starting HB

Takes running back in the first two rounds of draft
